Rydges Darwin Central

Considering the large number of us checking in at the same time from the Ghan, check in was very fast - obviously well organised group. The meals so far have been excellent. The room is super and very clean. We would like to particularly praise our room attendant, Delphine, for the excellent job she did - very thorough, she even found my pen that I had dropped and couldn't find. It must have been under the lounge chair. Great to see such thorough cleaning and attention to detail.

Booked a room early hours of the morning due to not wanting to drive back home because of drinking. There where 3 adults staying so I asked for a 2 bed room apartment and ended up with 2 beds in 1 small room after ringing down to reception and asking for the 2 bedroom apartment I originally asked for they didn’t have any and wouldn’t refund me. Before that unless all 3 of us had I.d we where not aloud to check in and of course 1 person had no I.d, where’s the duty of care? We had been drinking try do the right thing so we aren’t on the roads, I even said we have come here to not drive cause home was 1.5hrs away and your happy to let us drive home? The response. (well yeah sorry sir). After managing to get a picture of the person I.d staying with us they eventually let us in the our 1 bedroom 2 bed apartment. They could not speak English properly the communication was terrible the mannerisms were atrocious and the room was wrong. He even repeated back to me at the counter “so 1 apartment with 2 seperate bedrooms”. And still got it wrong. Unless your looking for nothing but mistakes don’t stay here. The bed sheets had what seemed to be dust marks on them to so I ended up leaving after about 3hrs to stay somewhere else.

Unless your looking for a low budget not so clean place that makes nothing but mistakes and refuse to fix them go ahead Rydges is for you!

A little tired and actually reminded me of motels in the early 90's when I walked in and realised that a lot of 'fresh air' from a can had been let loose. Bathroom was kind of half now, half then. Ducted air was too cool even for Darwin weather. Bed was comfortable and big room. No free parking which I thought was a bit rich. Staff nice enough. It is very convenient, walking distance to everything we needed in the time we were here

I'm going for 3 stars based on 7 nights in 3 rooms. Initially was impressed but look a little closer and you see shortcomings. Rooms were good but let down with MDF timberwork (?) and aging fittings. 2 rooms had the chrome worn off of the bathroom taps (209 & 309) and in 722 the toilet seat looked like someone had given it a flogging. We found the aircon a bit too cold (and we came from winter in Victoria), adjusted it and found a blanket.
The staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was the standard routine serve, nothing special but could start just a little earlier. Convenient location and easy walk to the waterfront where you can eat just about anything.

Nice motel, staff were friendly but at times very busy. Needs cheaper parking. No free parking.

Racism is rife in Darwin.n this place was extreme, especially when you are unaware of the racial attitude of this town n businesses.i will never return to Darwin.

Centrally located Rydges is in the center of the food and drink area that is worth trying. Become a Rydges member for a faster check-in. Room is large with a small view of the sea and the city. Bed is comfortable, room is airconditionned, shower seems renovated, large and clean. Room 707 is large enough for family with kids. Mini bar available. Walking distance to CBD, park, shopping. Pool is small but large enough for kids to have fun. Staff very helpful and friendly. Great online management. Use the website for cheaper rates.

I loved the place it is a pleasant atmosphere, quiet it's how I liked it. Friendly staff. The women who comes to clean our room were friendly and polite. Downstairs inside the complex are restaurants, hairdressers and other shops. We washed our own clothes. The laundry area is big enough. If 2 or more people washes clothes at the same time there are chairs out in the foyer close to the laundry room to sit and read from your mobile phn. We have 1 bucket per room, when we needed ice cubes we help ourselves. It is also located in the laundry room. It's accessible 24/7 all you needed is a card instead of a key to get in it's also our key to the room. I will stay there again hopefully in 6 months time.
