Prefer a setting that fits with nature, s design, lacks lifeforms like all our constructions around the planet

WiFi didn't work. I had to check in and out via an automated kiosk and I was overcharged. I do not recommend this hotel, they clearly have no interest in providing a pleasant guest experience.

Having stayed in a number of hotels in Darwin, this is certainly one we won’t be returning too. The facilities are abysmal and not as listed on the website. Yes there are restaurants nearby, but they are independent businesses that operate in a close vicinity. The pool is essentially a paddling pool and the reception is understaffed. With that said, the staff members we interacted with were helpful and professional. This was a soulless hotel, lacking in any form of character or charm. However, if your just looking for somewhere to stay for a night, it’ll suffice. We ended up looking at other hotels in the same price range and moved across to another hotel in the CBD.

Good centrally located hotel. Rooms neat and clean, staff helpful and friendly. Only downside for me was no food or restaurant. Staff referred me to Salvatore's around the corner a short walk away. This restaurant was quite good with a varied menu and reasonably priced, probably cheaper than hotel prices.

Excellent location for walking to everything. Staff were helpful and accommodating, and the daily room servicing was excellent

The only thing is that there is no area for smokers no smoke bins out the front.
There is an area next to the pool that is not being used it's out doors that would be a good area.
Also by law they have to provide one.

Rooms smelly and bathroom sink mouldy and no ventilation in bathroom. The room was clean enough. Staff not there at most times so a few things were self service. We went at low season so no comment on hotel food.

Great location, walking distance to shopping centre including Coles. Plenty of hot water for shower and room is looking clean. Check in is not the easiest with the app. It is easy to get the room cleaned via the app.

Kind of disappointed since Rydges is a reputable 4star hotel chain and this one does not meet the standards. Smells like an old establishment.

Spacious, clean, quiet, good blockout curtains, Comfy-enough beds. Very mediocre customer service let this place down. I don’t rate the do-it-yourself, human-less check-in and check-out and any staff we did see ignored us. On arrival we struggled to get a luggage trolley out from behind a bunch of linen trolleys in the foyer while the guy behind reception just looked on and offered no assistance and was not attending to anyone else. We then preceded to the elevator (no direction) and was swiping for access and he just laughed because it wasn’t the right elevator. Gee thanks. Extremely poor room service choice, especially if you don’t like Italian! It’s just from the restaurant downstairs that is never open. Also, room service closed so early. A friendly staff experience would have improved our stay immensely but the place itself was as good as expected.

I stayed in Rydges during the Darwin trip and enjoyed the accomodation. It is located in very convenient location. Although the self check in machine was slow but the staff were very helpful and polite. Room was neat and tidy with fresh towels, tea and coffee. Wifi

I will definitely choose Rydges for next visit too.

We booked for our wedding and honeymoon. The staff were very nice right up until the father in law hit the boom gate. Instantly wanted to charge our room the replacement boom gate for $1,350.00.

The boom gate got caught between the the warning bar and the ute. In most cases the warning bar is at the entrance and not at the bottom of the ramp.

Whilst he shouldn't have tried to drive down there I feel the position of the warning bar is just wrong and was the cause of bending the boom gate which still functioned as intended. Was just bent at a 15 degree angle from the post.

The whole situation was handled poorly and quite frankly, rudely as we didn't even know about the boom gate until the following day as it was still perfectly functional when we came back from dinner hours after the incident.

Kind of ruined the honeymoon, thanks.

Could not check In on time, have a kiosk
check in which created a line up of travellers.
(No hurry as rooms not ready) 1 staff member who DID not check people in to hurry up process. Very obvious using a self serve check in at the cost of staff. Paid over $300.00 a night, to check in our selves and no service. Also free wi Fi that did not work.
Overall not coming back and would not recommend. When questioned Wi-Fi issues was told " it's no big deal haven't amputated an arm or leg. Not at all professional.

Great price, service excellent. Thank you Sarah Mullins for going above and beyond, nothing seemed to much to ask.

Good location.clean but very basic rooms - no phone, or hot chocolate! The check in was odd, having to check yourself in on a computer not directly with staff.
Pool is nice but very small - not a great size for keeping the family happy.

My partner and I was very disappointed in the hotel. After driving a long 7 hours into Darwin, we just wanted to relax. So we paid $383 for a room. The room was to be fully serviced with milk and coffee facilities, fresh towels, soap, shampoo and all thse bathroom needs to take a shower. There was nothing in the bathroom. After a long drive the first thing we did was take a shower. Only after we jumped in we realised there was no bathroom products and no towels. We then looked for the phone to ring down to reception. THERE WAS NO ROOM PHONE. We were wet and had to find our mobile phones to ring the hotel desk to ask for a towels and soap etc. Reception came up with 2 towels and no products. Obviously not in a rush because 10 mins we waited. Dripping wet.
My partner asked about the password free WiFi for usage later. Staff advised that there was no password and did not bother to show us how the WiFi was used although my partner had asked him how to show us. I ended up having to used all my internet which is not unlimited and I had to recharge half way through the night. That cost my a other $30. So all up we feel like we paid $400 for something that was advertised on the website that was not delivered.
My partner and I will not be visiting not just the RYDGES DARWIN but will be boycotting all RYDGES. My partner and my friends are frequent users of these hotels, we both felt like we wasted what money we had to treat ourselves to a decent room for the night. I will be letting my friends know about this awful experience and making sure that we all won't be visiting any of your chains again.

What a dump. To get in the door to check in you need to use an intercom to get buzzed in. Reception is not staffed so they expect you to use a self serve machine that wants you to type in details already supplied at the time the company travel agent booked. The key didn't open the carpark as it should so it took a while to get that fixed. The room is dated and smelled musty. The beds have very cheap mattresses and only have a top and bottom sheet and nothing else. The TV is unwatchable with just snowy lines flashing across it as they are using an old Movielink system that were around in the 90s and as it is only a Movielink remote and there are no buttons on the TV you can't plug in your own device to the HDMI. No phone to ring and complain. Nobody at reception. Speaking to other guests in the lift all their TVs have the same issues.

A very impersonal hotel.
Rooms not flash.
Service abysmal.
No restaurant.
Only thing going is the location, but looking around there are other hotels in the same blocks.

Staff, when you could find them, were friendly and helpful. Location is good. They are the only positives. Self check-in had to be guided by a staff member so really what is the point! TV reception in the allocated room was atrocious with horizontal lines across all stations. When a change of room was requested, was advised all TVs had the same problem. Forget watching TV, but was given a larger room with a "view". The view over roofs was obstructed by the filthy windows. The blockout curtains for the brutal western sun had come off their tracks and were useless and the toilet would not flush properly unless the button was held down. Lodged a maintenance request via their app and promptly received a confirmation call (good). They fixed the curtains but not the toilet. The room also had a damp musty smell to it. All in all extremely disappointing accommodation, well past it's use by date and one to be avoided.

No one at reception. Self check in, very unwelcoming particularly if you are hot and tired after a long journey. We stayed for 6 days ond only saw 2 other guests! No dining room, unless you count the public food hall outside. Instead of breakfast we were grudgingly offered vouchers. A bit like the end of days.
