RFDS Darwin Tourist Facility reviews
77This is great! The RFDS facility provides a terrific overview of the importance of their role in assisting the remote region with care. The facility also houses the 1942 Darwin bombing. This is such an amazing walk through Australia's actual wartime experience. It is interesting with so much to learn but it is done in a way that it is interactive. Great for both kids and adults to learn Aus history.
This facility, located on the wharf, also incorporates a Bombing of Darwin presentation.
One entry to experience both.
Staff were really friendly and took time to explain the layout and features.
RFDS - has a VR area with multiple seats and units. One a scenic flight and other an onboard flight with a nurse and patient. There is also a RFDS plane on display that you can walk through. Lots of photos and information on display.
Theatre - offers two films - one on the Bombing of Darwin and other the RFDS history to date. Good size and informative. Has a holograph type presentation which is very effective.
Bombing of Darwin - Great VR presentation (about 8 seats). Holograph PM Curtin and Japanese pilot (1st war prisoner of WW11 in Australia). There are other supporting displays.
Overall a must see facility. Well worth a visit, that tells of a times in Australia’s history that are both important and one, sadly, little known.
The staff are very lovely and very knowledgeable and all the interactive activities are fun and educational. I would recommend every tourist visits the centre.
Best tourist place in Darwin. Should see when in Darwin. Very informative. Nice staff. VR was amazing. Free shuttle bus to other attraction places nearby to spend the rest of your day. Also there are water front eating place next to the museum, good for lunch.
Really interesting, lots of good information about the RDFS and THE Darwin WW2 bombing. The 3D interactive D.bombing story was novel. Allow 90 mins. Look for the food places for snacks further around the wharf. Walk out for the exercise, but there is a shuttle bus.
A unique place to visit with a Good presentation of the attack from Japan on the area in and around Darwin.
Recommend this place for some history of Darwin's and it's people's war experience. The virtual reality experience of the Japanese bombings is crazy. Also experience the RFDS on a flight in VR transporting and treating a heart attack victim.
Loved it great staff too fully recommend and buy souvenir shop good prices and profits go to the flying doctor service.
This is a must see if your visiting Darwin.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. There are interactive experiences in flight with nurses and pilots on the job.
There is also a full size plane to climb into and out yourself in the hot seat
There is also holographic show which depicts the bombing of Darwin in 1942.
Well with the admission price. Expect to spend a few hours here.
Highly recommended.
Brilliant presentation of the bombing of Darwin and the Royal Flying Doctor's Service using holograms and virtual reality. Wow I could have spent all day there.
Interesting place to visit. The virtual reality shows are something to experience in themselves. Thought it was a little overpriced for what it was, but the staff are very nice and friendly. Make sure you look for the free shuttle bus from the end of the wharf, otherwise it is a bit of a hike in the heat.
A lot of exhibits well presented need to plan for a few hours to see and experience all the exhibits
This was an amazing place to see with it's rich history and lots of information on the Darwin bombings and the Royal Flying Doctors Service.
Good experience to be able to walk through a retired aircraft of the RFDS. A little pricy for the entrance fee
Great films and VR experiences. Staff were friendly. Good story boards and the RFDS is really a great service. However, $28 is quite steep for such a small museum and the VR headsets are dated and you can’t really fit glasses very well in it and you can’t adjust the optics like the newer headsets
The 3D glasses were terrific giving a great insight into WWII and RDFS. Holograms were worth seeing too. G good spot to spend an hour or so.
