On arrival we were greeting by a lovely receptionist who informed us our room had been upgraded to a suite. How lovely! Internally, the galleria is just beautiful and resembles a tropical oasis. We opted for the prepaid breakfast and the selection was wonderful. Our room had a coffee pod machine and a selection of nice Twining teas (I am a big tea & coffee lover), so I was delighted. I had booked two rooms, one for a friend (we were all attending a concert), she was unfortunately unable to attend due to a tragic event (made the news). The Novotel staff were so helpful in showing me how to cancel her room and then they went above and beyond and waived her cancellation costs. A big thank you so much. I had requested a 'quiet' room because we are bush residents and are quite sensitive to 'urban' noise LOL. The room was wonderfully quiet. And of course, the Novotel is on the Darwin Esplanade so walking distance to the centre of town. Perfect.

I did not get my qantas frequent flyer points when I was told that i was legible for them.
I think continental breakfast a little expensive of $20.

As the title suggests the room was barely better than a back packers,

One small bath towel
No soap for the shower
Room design - while on toilet your feet are in the shower
Bathroom not clear - black hair everywhere from the previous guest …stayed 2 nights never cleaned.
The room itself is like an ancient dentists office and falling apart.
Ordered a room with king / queen got a 2 beds

Certainly won’t be staying again!
Not the kind of quality i would expect from

We had a great time. Love that the restaurants and bar are just there in the lobby. Is definitely our pick for ease with a family in tow.

Our group of 6 stayed at Novotel Darwin CBD for 4 nights and were looked after by the most amazing hotel team in all our travels. Arya from Front Desk called me 2 nights prior to our stay to confirm details of our 3 rooms and even offered an upgrade! Checking in was a breeze and our rooms were par excellence. Throughout our stay, the Front Desk team comprising Arya, Kathryn, Bintang and Henry went out of their way to make our stay in Darwin truly memorable. They accommodated our request to vary our package inclusions, made flexible arrangements for our car parking, gave tips on local attractions and ensured we had everything we needed. Because we booked 2 x 2-night packages for each room, we would have had to check out technically after the first 2 nights and re-check in for the second 2 nights. However, the Front Desk staff made it a seamless process of simply re-activating our key cards without having to vacate our rooms. The team exemplified service with a smile, were always polite and made their guests feel special. Special kudos to Kathryn for her outstanding service excellence. Over at F&B, the team was equally delightful and wonderful. Special mention goes to Anna at the lobby bar for making great cocktails and lovely conversations while concocting our drinks. She clearly loves her job and it shows! Housekeeping did a fabulous job and made our rooms spick and span. Our stay at Novotel Darwin CBD was exceptionally wonderful, thanks to the entire team. We will definitely stay at Novotel next time we’re back in Darwin!
We stayed in a junior suite and the room was perfect in every sense. There were even 2 TV sets in the room! The bed and pillows were super comfortable. The hotel is right on the waterfront along the esplanade. The location was great and within walking distance to the main CBD shops and restaurants. WiFi was great and worked perfectly.

Nice hotel, lovely airy green filled tropical feel atrium. Rooms are tired, with sub-par air con. Some room TV's do not work properly. Location is great. I walked to main street for more restaurant options, 5 min walk. Park is across the road, which is pleasant. Hotel pool and spa is nice, but has an uninspiring minimalist feel. The restaurant is fine. Had the crocodile entree and pork belly main, which was overcooked and dry. Staff have been helpful and pleasant. I had to extend a stay, which was simple and done without fuss.

Nice location on the Esplanade overlooking Bicentennial Park, unfortunately from our room we looked at the wall of the next door hotel. It is also handily placed for a short walk into the main centre of the town and even not too far from the Waterfront Precinct.
Upon entering the hotel, the lobby/atrium looked impressive with all the greenery.
A very nice choice at breakfast.
There is also a free guest laundry, with washing powder available for purchase from reception.
So there are some nice aspects of the hotel, however, unfortunately the 2 rooms that we stayed in were in dire need of a good clean (the carpets were absolutely filthy where you felt that you had to wear shoes at all times). Also in both rooms, the bedside lights and safes didn't work. When we complained about these we were fobbed off by the team on reception; eg.safes are on order, the maintenance person has finished for the day. The rooms are in desperate need of refurbishment and the rest of the hotel could probably benefit from this too.

Stayed here for a week with work and it was pleasant and well located!

Room itself is roomy, bed comfy and the interior atrium is certainly a standout feature. Some elements of the room were a little dated, I didn’t really fit into the shower with much space, but all totally acceptable.

There is a nice bar on the ground floor in the atrium which was a great space to have an evening beverage and work. The plant fit-out and space down there is really pleasant.

One standout for me is the location. Being on the esplanade you are close to parks, 5 minute scooter ride from the waterfront precinct and close to shops.

Would happily stay here again!

Laxman at the bar provided us with an excellent service and great cocktail recommendations. One of the best espresso martinis in Darwin! Highly recommended!

Very disappointing. The manager (July 22) was rude and very unaccommodating.
The room bookings were messed up resulting in the wrong type of room which couldn't accommodate everyone, and for 3 out of 5 days we were there we were unable to get bath towels. We were offered bath mats to dry ourselves.
Poor service
Poorly cleaned rooms
Ageing hotel

It was a filthy, rundown, descrepit hovel! The carpets were filthy, stained and clearly had never been cleaned. We stayed in a two bedroom suite, it was dark, decorated in what appeared to be furnished acquired from an op shop.brown depressing decor, the “kitchen “ comprised of a two ring job and sink, rusty and scratched saucepans were there for our use (as if) and a sign above the shower told us that we would be charged an additional $1,200.if the smoke alarm went off due to steam from hot shower water… I am amazed we didn’t leave with scabies

For $361 a night you would think they could have a shower curtain that isn't mouldy at the bottom. They are cheap at kmart this should be a no brainer! Asides from the trainee at the front who was proactively helpful the other staff were curt and not very informative. I thought given the lack of information provided on arrival, that there would be info in the room. Such as "here is pool", here is laundry, "do you need help with luggage"? "you need gate code to access the rear carpark gate l, it's here" and also "book your breakfast in advance" however nothing at all. The girl who checked us in waved vaguely in the direction of the elevator and was very cold.
We got so much more for so much less in other parts it's a real shame because the place is beautiful and the atmosphere could be like that of Singapore or SE Asia if only they adopted the hospitality of the same.

Stayed 5 nights
Location: good. Short walk to pubs and shopping malls in CBD. Or just crossing the road to the park /beach. My room facing the Bicentennial park has beautiful sea view.
1-2 staff at the front desk. No bell boy. No security guard. On the day of arrival, an indigenous people was sleeping /lying in front of the entrance for hours. He/she was gone later.
Reception counter: smoothly, fast and nice. Not all the staff have name tags. When check in, the young girl, looks like a training staff, spoke too fast. Andrea (only she got name tag) was nice and handled our check out carefully. The staff at the reception smile to guests. Other staff in the hotel I met were almost lack of smiling, or indifferent.
Check out time: 11am (confirmed with a female receptionist), it's good.

Parking: the entrance covered carpark is besides the hotel, $10/day, safer and more convenient. Uncovered carpark behind the hotel is free.

Room: after the check in, we went inside and started to smell and feel that "it's an old hotel" from the lifts to our room. The carpets were old. The door lock wasn't very easy to open. Air-conditioning and ceiling fan functioned well. Bed and pillows were good - comfortable. Free wifi with password which haven't been changed for a while, not too slow, can watch youtub on TV.
Have a large desk with hidden sockets, a big TV, a 2-seat sofa, an iron, hair-dryer, electric kettle, and a small safe (not big enough for my laptop). There's a cupboard/ minibar with a mini-fridge. The fridge was not cold enough and kept dripping, can't adjust it's temperature.
Some tea bags (3 popular flavours), instant coffee, sugar, and milk in the mini bar.
Little old-styled toilet with shower. Towels and cleansing gels were provided. No bath tub. The shower wasn't hand-held. No ventilator. Advised to close the door when and after a hot shower. The steam will activate the smoke sensor which is near the toilet door, costs $1200. Water wasn't very hot or need to wait for a while at night. Have a very hot water immediately in the morning.

Room service: can't order food to dine in room (only during COVID?).
Housekeeping: once per day - in the morning normally. 1) clean the room and bed making once daily during hospitality - good. 2) supposed change used towels only when put them in the floor. But, I felt that they changed the used towels on the rails daily. 3) I switched off the air-conditioning deliberately before leaving room. But, air-conditioning was on every time (+ ceiling fan sometimes) when we came back. Let's cool down immediately after one hot day journey. 4) Only refill the tea bags when not many left in the drawer obviously. 5) we already double confirmed the check out time (11am) with receptionist. At 10am sharp, an (? African) housekeeper kept knocking loudly until I rushed out from the toilet. When I opened the door, she just said 'sorry' and then left. I looked at the clock and our mobiles my watch again and again.

Environment: tropical style. Full of hanging plants between various levels.
Lifts: dirty glass, stingy.
Lounge/Bar: good vibe, little bridge in the middle, nice place for watching football matches on TVs. Live music on Friday night.
Zest Restaurant: on ground floor. 3 sections: breakfast, luncn, and dinner only. Looks nice. But haven't tried.
Swimming pool and spa at the rear. Can ask front desk if need towels for swimming.

Disappointing stay at Novotel Darwin CBD. Location is great, rooms are tired and in need of a makeover particularly the bathrooms, air con is noisy and impossible to sleep in and in our 4 day stay, we had to had to use pool towels as they didn’t have any bath towels. For the price you pay, it’s ordinary.

When you book months in advance for a water view, get written confirmation and turn up at 6pm after 5 days on a bus tour to be offered the wrong room with no chance of the room you booked just isn't good enough. 5 years without a holiday and taking your 13 year old son on a holiday for the first chance in 5 years together after losing my wife his mum to cancer, you plan everything. To be let down like this is unforgivable and a peak season, I'm forced to stay here in a room I hate. Just totally unacceptable.

Service was shocking, we didn’t get the room we had booked instead we were staying in a dodgy, dark dungeon. The rooms weren’t ready until 5pm and there were no towels. There were also no sheets available for bedding changes. A huge renovation is needed.
