Hilli Restaurant & Cafe reviews
37Extremely arrogant and rude chef. Couldn’t handle it when told his food was not cooked to specification, accusing us of wanting a free meal.
The most unappetising tasteless meal I have ever eaten. Presentation disgusting - lamb in gravy with lumpy mashed potato. Only good point was that the lamb was tender. Two serves of this plus 2 glasses of wine cost $93.
Disgraceful. Cancelling a Mothers Day table at 8: 40pm the night before despite having a booking in place. To be told initially it was due to wet weather. This was a lie. I was informed prior that they were only setting up inside. When I said this their story changed and I was advised it was because there was a bigger table booked. So why take a booking for 2 adults and 3 children. Oh no, they just want 11 paying adults instead of a family there.
Awful service and the clients I now bring in to Norfolk will be advised to avoid this establishment!
We have had many memorable dinners at Hillis but last Tuesday’s was for all the wrong reasons, we probably wouldn’t go back for dinner again. To top the night off we had the waiter chasing after us as we walked to our car yelling to us that we hadn’t paid our bill!
I can only echo what most people are saying.
We had a very nice meal in pleasant surroundings with good service.
This restaurant represents good value and we would have gone again had time allowed.
It was a pleasant surprise to note that they don't gouge diners with drinks prices.
Don't miss out.
Highly recommended.
What a great place, friendly staff, beautiful food in a nice relaxing atmosphere. We had 3 lunches and one dinner, all dishes were really nice. Highly recommended for a visit,
Good work guy's and girl's
Friendly restaurant for lunch and dinner serving local meat, fish and vegetables. Inside, verandah and garden setting to suit the weather with good views from the verandah of the Queen Victoria gardens-which are worth a stroll after a meal. There is a gallery with unusual jewelery glass and pottery from local artists which are good for gifts or souvenirs and it is also the entrance for the Cyclorama an historic display of the island history.
We enjoyed 4 wonderful meals here last week! Service was great and how the chef prepared such top class meals in their little kitchen was amazing! We loved the garden setting and staff were attentive and friendly.
By the time we got here at 6.30pm the only vegetarian option for a main meal was unavailable. My partner is a pescatarian diner, but had eaten trumpetfish the night before and so selected the vegetable curry… none available. He then asked for a main size of the calamari and was given the entree size. When we questioned this we were told they couldn’t do a main size! Don’t get me wrong, the meals we ate were delicious and the service mostly good, however, this scenario is unacceptable.
Very nice food and service, I did think the portions werw a touch on the light side.
Still overall, great!
Lovely atmosphere, sit outside if available. Open for lunch’s and dinners. Dessert was always my favourite. Depending on day lunch can be a hit or miss but service and atmosphere never disappoint.
Food was of a great standard. When here twice for both lunch and morning tea. Had the seafood crepe which was absolutely to die for! Except for when it cane out and there was a tiny spider in the flower on top of the crepe Highly recommend the banana bread for morning tea. Was very yummy
Very good service, good menu, licensed. Seating inside or outside, overlooking the gardens. I recommend booking.
The menu was wide ranging and interesting. The quality of the food was excellent and the prices are reasonable.
Lovely food and ambience, staff were brilliant amd accommodating, so good we are going back for lunch tomorrow
Went here for lunch and had the best chicken burger ever. Quality ingredients and very tasty. It came with cheese and smoky bacon. I requested to have it with no sauce or salad (as I’m a purist) When it arrived at first, the kitchen had not granted my request, but just as I was about to complain, the waitress had realised the mistake, came back to the table, profusely apologised, and had a replacement burger ready within a few minutes. It was delicious. There is a lovely outdoor dining area in the garden surrounded by greenery, with a great atmosphere. I highly recommend this place.
The food was fantastic and the service was second to none, was nice to speak to one of the owners and hear about the Island
Professional venue and meal. Perfectly cooked to request. Simple variety but very well done.
No burgers and nuggets here, it's quality.
I had a lovely lunch of sirloin steak with Baileys creme brûlée with a nice wine. They were really tasty and a great sized lunch meal. I suggest you book as it is quite popular
Excellent meals at very reasonable prices.
Service was fast and friendly in a comfortable, homely setting amongst the gardens.
