Hilli Restaurant & Cafe reviews
37 My favourite restaurant on Norfolk Island, located in some very nice gardens just off the main road. The restaurant is in a old converted house sharing a space with a small art gallery/shop. It has a very comfortable feel with both inside and outside seating, nice to enjoy the garden and fresh air.
Everyone working there is friendly, and the service was great. I enjoyed both a lunch and dinner as there are different menu's trying several of the local dishes. The Seafood crepe included the local fish, the Souffle from local Goat Cheese and the highlight a local Beef Filet. Whilst the deserts weren't specifically locally aimed, the lemont tart and sticky date pudding, both were also excellent.
Very nice food and service, I did think the portions werw a touch on the light side.
Still overall, great!
Absolutely stunning food, with bubbly and attentive service to match. The decor and atmosphere had an inviting and homely warmth.
This place is excellent. Great setting with nice outdoor seating and lovely service. Both the owner and Joyce (?) went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Lovely dishes and big portions. Went twice during our stay on the island.
Lovely atmosphere, sit outside if available. Open for lunch’s and dinners. Dessert was always my favourite. Depending on day lunch can be a hit or miss but service and atmosphere never disappoint.
Food was of a great standard. When here twice for both lunch and morning tea. Had the seafood crepe which was absolutely to die for! Except for when it cane out and there was a tiny spider in the flower on top of the crepe Highly recommend the banana bread for morning tea. Was very yummy
Very good service, good menu, licensed. Seating inside or outside, overlooking the gardens. I recommend booking.
Dined in at night on our last night on Norfolk Island. Both our meals were top class and delicious. The service was top class as well. Would definitely recommend this lovely restaurant!
Food was excellent. Cooked exactly the way I requested. Staff were wonderful. Lovely atmosphere.
The most unappetising tasteless meal I have ever eaten. Presentation disgusting - lamb in gravy with lumpy mashed potato. Only good point was that the lamb was tender. Two serves of this plus 2 glasses of wine cost $93.
I can only echo what most people are saying.
We had a very nice meal in pleasant surroundings with good service.
This restaurant represents good value and we would have gone again had time allowed.
It was a pleasant surprise to note that they don't gouge diners with drinks prices.
Don't miss out.
Highly recommended.
What a great place, friendly staff, beautiful food in a nice relaxing atmosphere. We had 3 lunches and one dinner, all dishes were really nice. Highly recommended for a visit,
Good work guy's and girl's
We had morning tea here, scones and banana bread and it was fresh and delicious. Nice setting too.
Friendly restaurant for lunch and dinner serving local meat, fish and vegetables. Inside, verandah and garden setting to suit the weather with good views from the verandah of the Queen Victoria gardens-which are worth a stroll after a meal. There is a gallery with unusual jewelery glass and pottery from local artists which are good for gifts or souvenirs and it is also the entrance for the Cyclorama an historic display of the island history.
Disgraceful. Cancelling a Mothers Day table at 8: 40pm the night before despite having a booking in place. To be told initially it was due to wet weather. This was a lie. I was informed prior that they were only setting up inside. When I said this their story changed and I was advised it was because there was a bigger table booked. So why take a booking for 2 adults and 3 children. Oh no, they just want 11 paying adults instead of a family there.
Awful service and the clients I now bring in to Norfolk will be advised to avoid this establishment!
The menu was wide ranging and interesting. The quality of the food was excellent and the prices are reasonable.
