Governor's Lodge Resort Hotel reviews
41This company will not refund any accommodation costs so please be aware of this fact. My husband stage [3 Lung Cancer] had secondaries detected [3 brain tumours] 3 weeks prior to departure therefore was advised not to fly. ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS! This was to be his last holiday. Heartless and no empathy at all.
Governors Lodge is a marvelous place to stay when in Norfolk Is. It is central, and very well presented/managed. The Food at Bailley's is just brilliant. The young backpackers that staff the Lodge are fairly well drilled, and friendly.
Loved our stay here, very friendly staff. Baileys restaurant on site served wonderful meals. Would stay again.
My wife and I stayed at the lodge from the 17th July to the 24th. The cottage was extremely clean and comfortable. The staff, cafe, reception and both restaurants were very nice and helpful at all times. Pickup and drop off were on time. We will definitely come back to Governors lodge again.
With car hire it was easy to get to town, 2minutes and you were there. The stall were so helpful and friendly abd the rooms were great as it had afans, heater and tv, microwave, coffee and teas plus fridge. Make sure when booking that if you have trouble with walking and stairs you let the booking office be aware of that.
We had the disability cabin, which was well located across from the restaurants and other facilities. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Beautiful location and very close to the township.
The scarcity of food items was a surprise to people used to having access to everything, so certainly not confined to Governors Lodge. Meals are small, and compared to the mainland, overpriced. Again, it's the same all over the island. The rooms are 20+ years old and starting to show it. Staff are mostly international backpackers but quite good.
This is a well positioned resort and comfortable accommodation in nice grounds.
Check in was not able to cope with the influx of both accommodation and car hire in a timely manner.
Lack of eggs and fresh fruit very noticeable. Change your menu if you can't supply
Ate at Baileys Restraunt last night. The food was decent but portions were small and way over priced. The food at the local bowlo is much better.
Governor's Lodge has been on the island for many years. There are lots of units here. There is a pool and spa, two restaurants and a shop which you can buy lunch and coffee and non alcoholic drinks. If you book tours a bus will collect you at the office and return you home. There are a couple of restaurants across the road that you can walk to. Cars are necessary as a fair way to walk to town. You
rent these via the office allowing you to drive yourself where you wish. These are mostly earlier models of smaller cars imported to the island. A car is rented from the office.
Tropical gardens all over the complex with colourful flowers.
Governers is known to be completely for the traveller.
Just loved Norfolk Island.great location.accommodation rooms need a spruce up.fabulous food & service.would defs go again.
What a beautiful place.
Staff are friendly, and the serenity is a welcome change for myself.
I haven't seen the rooms, but the rest of it is beautiful.
I went to Bailey's restaurant for dinner and had the gnocchi, which was amazing. All the staff were friendly. The new owners have done an great job with the refurb.
A fantastic restaurant, lots of meals to choose from & sensational espresso martini!
A good thing to keep in mind, is that you'll definitely need to book ahead, we noticed several dissapointed groups, that weren't able to be seated, as they hadn't booked.
Once there, you'll appreciate the nautical themed restaurant & the friendly, knowledgeable staff.
We really enjoyed our evening at this restaurant
1 week ago.
Dinner in Bailey's was not a good experience. The steak was overcooked and tough. Not good when the cost is $42.
I would not recommend this supposedly fine dining restaurant.
My burger at the Leagues club was much better.
I liked the setup.individual units. My main issue was the shower and the constantly changing water temperatures which were either very hot or very cold. Food and variety.were excellent. Internet was not great but that would not be the facility, s fault
I just want to say how amazing Merrilyn is. Always so helpful and nothing is to hard. She is a great asset to the Govs family.
Great location and staff willing to help all the way. Helen at front desk is full of information and always willing to help.
Just returned from 8 days at Governor's Lodge. Really enjoyed our stay and cabin was very pleasant. Loved the food in both The Boatshed and Bailey's. Couldn't fault it. Difficult times for the Island. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Looking for a holiday destination where you not only get value for money but also supports decent hard working people? You've found it. I have just finished my final day working here before continuing onto my next adventure. I can tell you that my experience here was unlike anything else. The combination of everything makes me want to recommend this place to everyone I meet.
First of all the staff. Such incredibly hard working people who dedicate themselves to giving only the very best service to their customers. A wonderful mix of locals and backpackers doing their best so you can enjoy your holiday and focus on relaxation and fun.
The venues. After recent upgrades and many more to come, there is a huge focus on customer experience. From housekeeping, reception, food and beverage and grounds keeping every detail matters. Everything you need is right there in front of you and everything is beautiful.
But the owners. The real stars of Govenors lodge. Local people, who grew up on the Island. Genuine people with hearts of gold. Nothing is ever to hard for them. They care about their customers and treat their staff like they are family. They put the money they make back into to business and back into the staff. I have never had owners that are so selfless and caring. They genuinely want everyone that comes to Norfolk island to have the best experience of their life.
If you want a holiday where you can relax, unwind and experience something different come to Governors lodge. If you want to put your money into a place where you know it is put back into the community come to governors lodge. If you want to know you're supporting hard working, decent human beings who treat their staff incredibly well, come to Governors Lodge.
You won't be disappointed.
