Yarrangobilly Caves Visitor Centre reviews
61Awsome place for family. Has good facilities and be mindful of the one way road if you miss it, you can to travel a loop.
A wonderful place to visit with friendly staff that are very knowledgeable. Fantastic scenery and the caves are just as good as any you will see anywhere.
Yarrangobilly is amazing and most of the staff are very friendly and helpful, however one was particularly unhelpful in a time of need. However I don't want to service of an individual tarnish a well run place which has plenty to offer so 4 stars
Well worth the trip out, staff are so passionate and knowledgeable! Loved the guided tour first as it helped the self guiding tour after. Would highly recommend!
The cave tours have minimal numbers because of covid. The cave tours felt like a high school tour with so many rules and regulations in there. We had to wear masks, sanitise and stay in our 'bubbles. '
Through the masks we had to wear, the caves smelt like cleaning products which can't be good for the caves.
The tour guide was knowledgeable and we loved how we learnt about limestone and caves before we went inside. While I was recording the outside of the limestone formations I was put on the spot about it by the tour guide. I was using my DSLR camera with no microphone attached. This was quite embarrassing and not necessary.
I came here to take photos, videos and learn about the caves.
A lovely national park, great caves to explore either by yourself or a guided tour, a lot of steps to climb but okay if you take your time
The Yarrangobilly Caves are a nice place to visit. Large outdoor areas for the family to picnic and play. Facilities are good. As to personal experience we were unlucky, due to a large rainfall the night before we arrived, the thermal pool and caves were closed. We came back the following day and was able to have a guided tour of their oldest cave but other areas still closed. Would recommend maybe calling the day you plan to go to check. We will definitely come back to visit.
Great place for family. I enjoyed the tour to caves and had lots of fun at the thermal pool and river. It's the first cave I have seen in Australia so I had loads of fun. However, my friends with me had been to other caves around Sydney and they weren't impressed. According to them Jenolan and Abercrombie caves are better.
Also a word of caution, the path to thermal pool is very steep coming up on a hot sunny day can be very taxing.
Really good, well organised and friendly staff. Good selection of tourist stuff to buy ranging from ice-cream to toy snakes to books of geology of the area.
Basic facilities. Pretty well set up for covid. You'll need to use their free WiFi for online log in as there is no mobile reception. Caves were spectacular. Guided tour (masks required) led by enthusiastic and knowledge young lady. They have been so lucky not to have more damage from the fires. Worth a visit. Hot Pool early morning is absolute perfection.
Stayed at Yarrangobilly Caves House-closed to the public. Working nearby. Fantastic restoration. Great location. Excellent chefs.
Sad to see the damage of the 2020 summer bushfires as there has been extensive damage to the area, including to some signage at the caves and walking tracks. It was surprisingly busy, with lots of people out enjoying the weather, but not so crowded that social distancing was at risk as there is so much to do and plenty of room to spread out. I had an unfortunate encounter at the end of the day as I entered the visitors centre to buy a refreshment and one of the staff members inside had a bit of a power trip over the covid allowed numbers inside. As I entered she chased after me and quite rudely demanded myself and four other people outside, then did a head count and realized that not only were the 5 of us allowed in but that she was actually 6 people under capacity (16 total). I found it to be a disappointing end to an otherwise pleasant day.
One of the best cave. Toilet facilities available. Take extra care inside the cave as it can be slippery. The stairs to exit is steep.
We visited Jillabenan cave, which was a bit smaller than we were expecting. However, the tour guide James was very friendly and really informative - he taught us more about cave formations than I’ve ever heard on a tour before.
Well worth the visit to the caves.
Staff were super friendly and helpful with giving you directions on where to go.
We didn't expect how good the caves were so we all have to return again
We loved it. It was a hard walk with a 4 year old but he did it himself. Very nice day out with the family.
Very helpful staff. Take a walk to the thermal pool. But be warned it's a step climb back to the car.
Brilliant spot. Clean restrooms and good tables for a quick bite before heading down to pool and Caves.
Closed. Nothing at entry point to entrance to say park is closed after driving 6km on dirt road. Didn't know till we went to visitor centre
No idea the caves were closed, no signs along the highway advising us. Drove out there and very disappointed, even though the visitor centre is open, they should have written something on their website ️?
