Yarrangobilly Caves Visitor Centre reviews
61Great to walk through steps ate easier to walk up as opposed to down. Only a short walk suitable for most people. Cost of a self guided seemed a bit over the top.
Did the Jersey Cave Tour, amazing cave. Fantastic tour guide Josh. Cannot recommend highly enough.
The caves are an absolute wonder to behold. The tour guide was knowledgeable and informative. Admittedly, the rough gravel roads connecting to the highway were unpleasant to drive, but it's worth it for the caves.
Loved this place. However the dirt road to arrive is not very friendly to small cars motorhomes or caravans. No matter how hot it is outside the caves are super cold so a jumper is a must for comfort. It is $26 for a guided tour or $22 for a self guided tour. The tour guide has access to all the lights and lockable doors. So i would highly recommend the tour guided one. There is 4 caves so early arrival would discard rushing through them all. The thermal pools are incrdibly beautiful and warm. The walk down to the pools is rough steep and very long so comfort running shoes is a must. I would not recommend anyone wear thongs doing this trip down and back. However as there was a recent landslide we were forced to take a rough route walk. So we are not sure what the normal one looks like.
An absolutely magical place! Roslyn was the most amazing tour guide ever! Her excitement and passion for the caves was so infectious. Such a joy to be led through these ancient spaces with someone so warm and bright. The guided tour was definitely worth it.
Reachable via unsealed road. Snacks and beverages are available if you need a refresh. Free Wi-Fi connection. Staff are friendly and helpful.
We did the self guided tour of the South Glory cave.
We could take our time as we had the cave to ourselves.
The photos don't do this place justice.
We went in December 3 families there is no Cafe around this place to take your own picnic or lunch. 1 out of 5 caves was open.but it was nice experience.hot baths was also good experience but need to walk on unpaved road for 750 m to reach baths.take picnic rugs as there is less space to sit.no showers.
Much informative & helpful staffs. Cave guided tours ends at 2: 30pm, so make sure u reach there by online booking or making a call.
Always worth the visit. Caves both guided and self guided available. Swimming in thermal heated springs or river bathing. My tip do river first for refreshment then continue to spring and walk out via river to caves. Parking $4, plan a day for full visit which includes 2 hr drive from both approaches Tumut or Cooma end.
A bit pricy, I would stay away from thermal pools, not like what they say, there is no steam, feels like a cold pool.pool is free, caves are $20 per person
Must explain for people who visits if they have any illness or not fit to do the very long walk to the pool and afterwards to the cave could of lost my husband our friend had to get his car and meet him shame on that lady who said it's a short walk that is not a short walk must take a lesson about long walks and short walks so disappointed none of us made it to the cave anyhow taking vulnerable money is not a good way to make a business, driving to get to the cave is very dangerous as well and not maintain by the council should care for people life.
Great visitor centre. Staff very helpful. You will need to buy your passes and tickets here. Flushing toilets are located here also.
A bit disappointed it's such a long steep descent to reach the thermal pool. When mentioned this to staff, advised arrangements could have been made in advance for people with mobility issues. Please put this information on your website as we would have used that option had we knew it was available.
A great place to take the kids for a bit of exploring. Good walks to enjoy through the caves and along the river, and the staff are friendly and informative. The price is on the steep side for access to the caves though.
Staff service was excellent nothing was a problem. Well explained as I have had recent hip replacement so descending 200 steps was not a viable option to take the self guided cave tour. Having other medical conditions also added to the disappointment. I would not recommend this for anyone with a disability particularly in a wheelchair. Its worth a mention that the cafe as such didn't offer much so go prepared with snacks. It is about the caves after all. There is a long descending oneway gravel road to navigate from the highway, equally a long winding ascent back to the highway. Check weather conditions before hand. I don't think you will be disappointed for the effort.
The caves and thermal pool are great... Would be good if the visitor centre provided a range of food though.
Gravel access road off of the snowy mountains highway.
Well maintained and presented, Caves with tours, walks, hikes natural beauty and thermal pools
Special family getaway ️
Beautiful place. Jersey Cave didn't disappoint. Bernie is an excellent guide. Will visit again, worth the journey.
Such a beautiful place and the rangers were so friendly and helpful. Actually, my son's friend lost his mobile phone out there but the ranger opened the office after close of business and we left feeling very grateful.
