DEUTSCH

I was in Sydney for a few days - so I used Thailand's "local closeness" to Australia to visit this metropole. Since my accommodation was in the predominantly student-populated district of Surry Hills, I had the opportunity to meet the local branch of Woolworth Metro.

This branch is very special, according to the local residents, as it is tailored to the needs of the many different nationalities of the students. For example, you get fresh sushi and sashimi in a variety and quality that some Japanese restaurants do not have.

There is fruit from all over the world, an extremely large selection of breads, pastries and patisserie products, as well as a selection of chicken in every possible form of preparation.

For example, because of the emphasis on freshness, the store is reducing barbecued chickens by up to fifty percent after a certain period of time - I think that was an hour. The production times are always on the outer packaging of the products.

The wide offer of juices killed me. The business is in comparison - consider it is a discounter store - to shops like we have in Germany, a true delicate business.

Should you be in the vicinity just have a look - and afterwards get yourself one of the best coffees of the town in the almost opposite Factory Cafe and the day is yours.

The only positive thing I could say about this Woolworths is the courtesy of the store staff in there but.
It’s a Dumping ground food items not sold. If you want unripe mediocre produce or re-labeled Black-n-Gold-style sugar infused food snacks n dry-goods that they call ‘woollies brand’ and ‘macro‘ (pull the wool over your eyes that it is truly ‘healthy’. WRONG!) and the disappearing products that reappear for 2weeks only to be removed again for weeks and months after they run out and cheap quality toilet paper.then this dumpy petrol-station-style-convenience shop with no petrol pumps disguised as a food market is for you!
Unfortunately this market is my local I was here when they opened it and have come to terms that THEY DO NOT GIVE A RATS ABOUT CUSTOMERS!
I wish they would pack up and leave to make way for a responsible super market that cares about their local customers.
After making numerous complaints about the rudeness of the removal of longtime non-woollies brands items and corresponding with some jilted woollies staff w moral issues, I’ve worked out that this particular woollies is a basement ‘bomb shelter’ that dumps unsold food from other suburb’s woollies all in the name of budgets to favour their own financial interests. Don’t waist your time giving them feedback as THEY DON’T CARE ABOUT US CUSTOMERS!

I was not impressed with their selection of detergents, I couldn't find family size omo detergent for weeks now, and selection of bleach as well, other than these issues, they are quite okay.

Great service. Marina at the counter was the most helpful. She took time to welcome me and pack the bags properly. She deserves 5

A pretty convenient spot to get quick groceries or a snack at lunch! They've got a downstairs area which has a bunch more than the Woolworths Metro near Central Station, so if you're around Surry Hills, this one is a better option as they have more stock - less crowded too.

Truly the most bizarre collection of people congregate outside and inside this Woolies. Recommend for the sheer absurdity of the experience after hours.

Security hover over you while you shop, flow of store is very odd and confusing. You'll find yourself backtracking and zigzagging through the store going from front to back, upstairs and downstairs. Staff are friendly and helpful, which is a plus though.

Excellent Metro style Woolys in the heart of Surry Hills. Parking is a problem. I usually risk it in the no parking zone in the laneway opposite the driveway next to the entrance.

Good Woolies!

Great team, very well organised store, everything is super clean, and they have a great variety in their products/produce they sell.

PROs: convenience factor, cafe (the coffee isn’t horrible), have never had to wait too long in line, they’re not Coles and therefore haven’t chickened out of encouraging reduced consumption of plastic bags.
CONs: smaller store and metro means smaller range of items (less paradox of choice so I dunno maybe a PRO too?), those bloody newer self serve registers. They’re useless. Need to scan items three times before they register. Replace with the older model of self serves.

Best Woolies shop I've been to visit in Surry Hills as I find a lot of things I need there. It's a medium size WWs with fresh Fruit and Veg along with fresh Sushi

Plenty of friendly staff. Phone reception will cut out when you go to the downstairs floor which is an inconvenience if on a phone call or streaming music via your phone.

It's a nice little supermarket that's perfect for late night shops and quick service.
Staff are really helpful and friendly.

Great store. Even though it's a metro store they still have a good range. Clean, shelves always stocked well. Security friendly greeting on arrival as are the store staff.

Very gentrified woolies.half the size of suburban shops, but I still managed to grab some bargains.

Another generic Woolies franchise where they are committed to rearranging the shelves periodically so you can never find what you're looking for

Amazing supermarket! Visited on a Sunday morning and deli even open! Friendly helpful staff. Clean as a whistle! Best cold roast beef I’ve ever tasted. Prices good too! Nothing like it in my city of Melbourne near the cbd like this is! Keep it up I’ll be back!

No other option than plastic bags. Some fruits and vegetables come in plastic packaging. Nuts come in plastic packaging. Terrible.
