Woolworths Surry Hills reviews
67 Head office is at it again. Last time they put in a coffee shop which was destined to fail, and did. Now they rip out the deli, minimise the fresh food, and put in extra registers at the door. Trouble is you can't actually see the registers from the line and the "security" guard there at 6pm tonight just stands gazing into space rather than getting the line moving. I guess you need him now the checkouts are right next to the door and Surry Hills is known for its "colourful" characters who might forget to pay in their meth haze.
Maybe insource security - the ladies on the checkouts are way more attentive and eagle eyed. And seriously the deli was the best thing about this place!
Great local Woolies, friendly staff, people restocking the shelves all day every day, and has pretty much everything you need, even a pop up florist in Saturday morning!
Very compact supermarket with surprisingly wide range of stock on two levels. Basement accessible by escalator and lift.
I love this shop. Staff is very helpful. Especially an Australian Greek lady (unfortunately don’t remember her name) is the best. She always looks after me and makes me feel special. Thanks guys.

The staff are very friendly and there's a good selection of groceries for the size of the store (note there's a lower level). But I've literally witnessed theft in there a few times and some dodgy scenes with local characters. There's a few shelters close by. But nothing that's a real issue. Pro tip - their bakery section is on sale most Friday nights so grab cheap loaves or a pastry snack for the weekend when passing by.
Rude, overbearing security man at this store. Approached me saying you can't have an open can of alcohol in the store! I had a can of diet Dr Pepper! Get a real job mate. Or at least learn to do your job properly. Stop harassing people.
Most common supermarket items are available. Brand and size choice is limited. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Always a pleasant experience here - staff are friendly and chatty, they have a great scrunchable plastic recycling point, and love the seedling plants they’re giving away
Security guards can follow you around be aware they are way overzealous and have copped it from me. Like they think everyone is a shoplifter!
Fruit is always overpriced and much more expensive than the competition. And when "on sale", its often half off. Plus the store has a system of yellow price cards and prices go up and down every couple of days, even daily.
Super location so I really can’t complain but I’d love it to be a little larger. The fresh range is smaller than would be ideal but there’s always enough to get what you need. The coffee actually isn’t bad either so it does make for a great central grocery option.
Very convenient quick food store. Perfect for grabbing a snack before catching the trains back home.
We went there specifically to purchase biscuits (honey jumbles) advertised on web site and there was none
Close and convenient but sometimes you have to get out of the way of the staff when they are packing the shelves but all and all pretty good.
Customer service is a let down in the store
Staff are more interested in talking between themselves. Then concentrating on the customers in the queue
Terrible range and staff who don't care about service.
Was great before the revamp. Now its grubby and sells limited items.
Used to be good until some moron in head office decided to replace half the fresh produce with a sushi counter and coffee shop. Anyone with half a brain would know that Surry Hills is awash with cafes and restaurants. With reduced range I now favor Aldi for my basic needs and Coles Redfern for my big shop. It's a shame because this was once my go to store, but now you can't get so many basics here.
Revamped the shop with registers blocking the doorway. No longer stock 2 litre Oak milk, only their saw dust Woolworths brand. Or 600ml Oak at almost the same price as the 2 litre was.
It's small and pokey. The cashier staff are above average in service and friendliness. Full of locals (which means bad hookup memories.)
The lady supervising the automated checkouts is quite possibly the purest kindest soul on the planet and deserves a raise considering how much she raises up each and every customer with her care
