The Tea Cosy reviews
65Went for a nice morning breakfast with my girlfriend and ordered “The Grand Stand” which advertises it as $30 per person for two people on their menu, which is cleverly worded. The waiter then made us pay upfront before any of the food came out. Upon the food coming out there were 4 scones and about 6 small sandwiches. All this with two pots of tea cost us $60 in total, WHAT AN ABSOLUTE RIP OFF. Service was terrible too waitresses and waiters had no idea. Would not recommend to any local or tourist.
The scones at tea cosy are some of the best scones at all of the high tea locations I have been to. The atmosphere is really warm and cosy with baskets laid out so you can knit. We got the grandstand which comes with 4 scones, finger sandwiches and jams of your choosing. All the jams are handmade and taste wonderful. They have a large variety of tea and drink choices as well.
My favourite tea place. Scones are fresh and delicious, cosy setting and wide selection of tea (hot and cold) so it's a great place to visit any time of year. Really enjoyed their Irish High Tea for St. Patrick's Day a few months back.
The food is absolutely nothing to shout about and is overpriced. The scones are mediocre but the jams are a bit above average. The setting is nice and fits the area it is located in. But I wouldn't really come back for the food.
The venue is conveniently located and is styled nicely. The tea and scones were good however it took the staff more than 30 minutes to deliver even though it wasn't busier than expected.
Indeed a very cozy teahouse with vintage setup. Very friendly staff. A wide selection of tea and served in cute knitwear. Sconces are well baked and sandwiches are surprisingly tasty. If anything the cream for the scones could be a little bit thicker.
The scones would have to be the best have tasted. Gets remarkably busy so booking is recommended. Go on a weekend and stroll the Rocks Markets for an enjoyable day out.
Wow, I haven’t experienced anything like this since moving to Australia! Such a quaint little place, with knitted blankets at the tables and tea cosys for sale dotted around, not to mention the antiques placed beautifully throughout the whole house/cafe! The scones were absolutely amazing, the sandwiches were also so good. We had the grand stand which included drinks too. Great coffee & tea (Barry’s tea!) and the staff are absolutely lovely and so helpful. I can’t wait to come back when I am next in Sydney and will deffo be recommending to all of my friends!
This place is filled with a cosy atmosphere and good ol' world charm. Step inside and experience deep brown interiors which relax you. Friendly staff who are prompt in their attention to service.scones were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, perhaps a little crumbly but that's fine. The tea pots were the charm, each individually customised with their own knit cloth patterns. An ideal quiet place to complete work or have an afternoon chat with friends.
Just had my baby shower here yesterday! The ease of booking, together with great service and the privacy we were able to have as a group made this the perfect choice and space for us! We cannot thank you enough! The food as always was divine and plentiful and staff were friendly as always - I would highly recommend ‘nanas nook’ for small groups, it ticked all the boxes for me Karen
Cute cosy cafe. Can get a high tea experience but in a more relaxed cosy environment at inexpensive prices. Scones are fresh and good. So good. With a selection of homemade jams to pick from. It'll keep me coming back to try all of them. Each and every one has been so good. You can pick from hot teas or iced teas. Satisfies both winter and summer demands. Also, the knitting baskets has always been a conversation starter.:)
Other than very good food, it is a great experience, it is definitely something different than your normal restaurant, it has a different feel and very comfy, they support busking in the restaurant as well so thats great
Cosy terrace house, with gorgeous decor. Love the homely features, including tapestries, knitted blankets, tea cosies, antiques and books. Delicious varieties of home made jams. I had the rhubarb, raspberry and vanilla bean flavour. Highly recommend it! The Devonshire Tea and scones are delicious. They also have gluten free scones. As well as rooms in the house, they have a sweet little outdoor courtyard, which is nice in warm weather.
Had a great time here. The coffee and food was good and Alex who served us was super friendly and welcoming.

Could be so much more. Food is nice and above average but the place needs a refurbishment. The set up with ordering/payment is down a rabbit warren and very silly. You feel crammed in a very small building, dining room area.
Cozy place! I was looking for some place where have scone n found here $18 for tea with two sones n two jams of my choice n thick cream
Environment was lovely n cozy like their name High recommended if u like tea n scone
U can do knit as well:)
Make sure to give yourself lots of time to sit and enjoy your full pot of tea and knit for a little while - very relaxing! (And the scones are filling! So yummy)
A cosy (no pun intended) setting with really nice scones and tea. Scones were slightly crunchy on the outside and softer on the inside - a perfect combination
Be prepared to wait for a seat and the scones!
Love the cheese scones and jams. Fig and ginger jam taste awesome. Cream and fresh and smooth.
Sandwiches are fresh and soft. Tea with good size of 2 cups of serve per pot. Outdoor environment is quite and refreshing.
Serves for 2 can probably enough to feed 3 ladies.
The shop get very busy at lunch time, may need to wait for a short while before have seats.
Wasn't the best experience for us. I'm from England so I know what a cream tea should be like. The scones had no flavor at all and fell apart. Quite expensive for what you get. The ploughmans was good however.
