The Illustrated Man

I've seen a lot of negative reviews and all I can say is this.
I went in and was told I could be done in an hour. Give or take some minutes this actually happened.
The artist was very professional and friendly.
He gave great advice and was pretty gentle (considering it was on my ribs and I'm thin only so much he could do there)
Very happy with the tattoo itself the colour pops.
Don't read the reviews just go and see.

Yooo Chuck did such a great job and was such a cool dude to talk to. Mad props, this was my first tattoo that wasn't only line work and I couldn't have had a better experience!: D Thank you heaps, I'll be sure to come back:)

Third time back here for a couple of small additions - Wayne was awesome, super friendly and took the time to make sure it was perfect. Love the new additions, very glad wondered in! Thank you again!

I got my first ever tattoo with Stef almost 3 years ago and she was so friendly & calming and she did a great job.returning a couple of days ago for my second tattoo with Wayne who also did an amazing job, I can confidently say that I will be returning and I’m so pleased that their standards are still the same as should be. If you want your tattoo to turn out exactly how you ask for it, friendly service and honesty then this is your place to go!

Awesome welcoming and calm atmosphere, very professional and so inviting! Piecer was fantastic, quick and painless process and I barely even noticed I had been pierced from how smooth the process was. Loved a good chat too! Would definitely go back

Got an awesome tattoo done by Libby Her expertise, professionalism and super laid back nature made the whole experience cruisy. Highly recommend her and will be back to get more pieces done at the Illustrated Man!

Got inked here by Stef in December 2019. Got two tattoos - one on my torso and the other on my wrist and I love them. To this day they look as good as new, I even have friends ask me if I've had touch ups (I have not). Thank you Stef, I'll be back soon for more.

Great people. Great tattoos. No dramas there. Only 4 cause it felt a bit like they were drawing out the hourly more then others.

My and my husband wanted small matching tattoos to represent our honeymoon. The two artists were miserable and rude, no aftercare advice whatsoever, considering these were our first tattoos which they both knew. On leaving, mine was wrapped in cling film, my husbands a small bit of tissue with sellotape around his leg. Artist also complaining he’s done too many of the design we had and slagging off Bondi Ink for no reason. Avoid

My two friends and I knew we wanted to get a small tattoo each before they returned overseas. I had been to the Illustrated Man before which was around the corner from where we were having dinner, so l gave them a call to double check if they did walk ins/if that night would work for them. The woman on the phone was a bit unpleasant but said yes, she could definitely fit us in if we hurry to get there.

After arriving only 10 minutes later, we were instantly met with rude attitude from the receptionist/tattooist who had spoken to us on the phone. We realised this was because they were closing in 15, which she hadn’t told us over the phone. She also wanted us to pay in cash - which was fine but another thing which would have been good to know over the phone.

After being pretty rude and honestly just plain condescending, we realised that she was probably going to try and rush us through which isn’t want you want when you’re getting a tattoo that will be on your body forever.

We understand that we came in at an inconvenient time, but had the woman been honest with us about this over the phone we could have avoided the awkward and unpleasant situation.

We decided to thank her for her time and leave, and got tattoos elsewhere in Sydney without any of the unpleasantness we experienced here.

I have had a piercing done here before, and the experience was fine - but after this I won’t be coming back or recommending the Illustrated Man to anyone.

Very awesome! I took my friend to get his virgin ink, and they were very careful to make sure he had a good experience.
Update: 2 years later, and it still looks fresh. No touch-ups have been needed.

Came here spontaneously for my first tattoo, and it was the best! The most friendly bunch of people and the care and concentration that gets put into their work is unreal.can recommend 100%

I got a double nostril nose peircing done there by zoe, they look incredible, she was so nice too definitely getting done more peircings there in the future.

Custom work I had done turned out amazing, Stef the artist was great, didn't take too long, didn't hurt as much as I thought and the music they had on was a great selection.

Price was very reasonable for the size and intricacy of the piece.

Will 100% recommend them to anyone who asks
