The Enmore Theatre reviews
72Best venue best sound. The floor hasn't fallen In during the shows I've been too which is always good
The theatre is quaint and aged. The live entertainment was good (Anberlin), however the audio was pretty dismal, lacking vocal and melodic clarity. I tried a few different spots throughout the standing area, but it didn't improve what I was hearing.
An excellent mid-sized venue providing the very best in local and international entertainment catering for all genres of music and performing arts! Always a pleasure visiting with good staff, cheap drinks, and an excellent crowd all around. You wont be disappointed, this is one of the best venues that Newtown has to offer!
Saw Saucerful of Secrets here a few weeks ago. Great accessible venue. Bar service was excellent.
I had never been to the Enmore Theatre. 3 of us including a young lady in a wheelchair attended.
From the special requests I asked, when purchasing the tickets through the box office, to the on the day help provided for the accessible seating, to the security man sitting near us during the show, that could not do enough to assist when required; overall the whole experience was exceptional. Well done to all the staff, and thank you!
The Enmore is one of the best venues in Sydney - intimate, grungy in a good way, surrounded by good pubs & restaurants.
Good sight lines, reasonable seats. It's sad that some of my favourite bands need bigger venues, although I understand why I'd absolutely love to see Paramore, Pulp, Blur, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and so on at the Enmore, it would be amazing.
Amazing atmosphere, fast and friendly service. Saw loyle carner there and was blown away. Perfect sound mix and amazing lighting (as always with this venue)
From Wolfmother on Saturday night to High School Theater Sports on Sunday, the renovations to the Enmore looks fantastic
The one and only. So many memories here. Great mixed venue, halfway between metro and hordon. Not as small and intimate as metro, but intimate enough to have personal shows still. If you're going to a gig here, you porbs aren't part of the core fan group, but you're guaranteed to have a good time. Best to watch their website every few months for your fav type of shows, and then research each of them, and book some in!
We turned up with our tickets to Apia Good Times and the doors were locked, no sign of life. No one thought to let us know! Really disappointed. It’s cold and everything around is booked out. Not even a sign on the door! Bad form guys
What a difficult venue to get to and to park at. It's a nice old building though and great to be able to have performers in smaller venues like this. Loads of eating and drinking spots around the theatre too.
Went to see Ursula Carlson on Sunday night. Only a year late due to covid 29. Well worth the wait to see her live on stage. Extremely hilarious and laughed so hard nearly peed my self. Nearly that is. Thank you to the staff who had us in and out with little fuss.
Really great atmosphere.
Apart from how congested King Street gets before and after a show, this theatre is fantastic. Great layout, stylish.
Lovely old theatre. Seen a lot of great acts through the ages. Heaps of drinking and dining options nearby. Very multicultural.
Great venue but a shame about the sound quality tonight! Impossible to make out the lyrics of Thelma Plum's new songs! Great concert but they going to have to subtitles like in the Opera House!
The bestest Wavy hot dancers on Coke ive ever seen. Ps Massive attack was better Kylie Minogue was hot i could sniff the adrenaline from a mile away. Thats how long the line was for the kebab shop down the road.
Attended the Arj Barker comedy show Friday 14th May 7pm and were told you had to purchase a mask to enter for $1, and soon found out the seating was closer than you would be sleeping next to someone! Defeats the purpose of wearing a mask and being Covid safe.
PROS.
Great theatre. Very professional and friendly, approachable staff/concierge.
Absolutely DOZENS of cafés, eateries and bars close by to enjoy before and after shows.
CONS.
Unbelievably awful parking availabilities and theatre situated in one of the busiest, most jam-packed Sydney streets on a Saturday night. Allow an extra hour if coming in from the ‘burbs. Or as they suggest, park somewhere away from Newtown and Uber the rest of the way for a ‘right at the door’ drop off. Several people did this, good advice, wish I had done it. Oh well ️ Next time.
I generally don’t like large venues to see bands because I always get the Lithuanian basketball team in front of me or someone with an Afro in front, the Enmore has a sloped floor so short arses like me can see at least some of the stage! They serve real Australian owned beer like Young Henry’s. And the bouncers are nice and hospitable.
