The Carrington Hotel reviews
60 On our first night there was a big stain on the quilt made us feel very uncomfortable. The couldn’t change it for us. We’re told the Receptionist doesn’t have the key to the house keeping room. The offer us another room for our second night. It was clean and comfortable. Never stay there again.
Hotel looks nice from out side.
Staff were helpful and friendly.
MS receptionist, as soon as we walked in, she pointed her finger outside, "go out there for coffee. We are not serving you coffee here. Then she went on and on without us talking, or she changed her mind, "you must have full breakfast not coffee only. " As we were walking to the breakfast door she followed us to tell the food service team what she wanted them to do us. We double cheacked with the team what she ssaid to the team and quests do. We never got a chance to push her bully back on a lovely snow day in such a place.
Exceeded All Expectations.
Our 3 night stay at the Carrington was perfect. The Joynton Smith suite was amazing and something very special. The stay in the suite was an experience in itself. The suite is WOW, it's big and beautiful, very comfortable and warm along with being very well appointed with it's gorgeous chesterfield lounges, ornate pieces and very comfy 4 poster bed. Bathroom is huge with the biggest, longest, most amazing cast iron bath and unique antique shower we've ever seen. Excellent views from the balcony and suites large windows.
The Grand dinning room is just that, and should be a must do if staying at the hotel to enjoy and encapsulate the entire experience. Food was very nice and the service in the dinning room was top notch. One of the waiters, (Wouter), was very pleasant and gave us some interesting detailed information and history into the Hotel and it's dinning room whilst serving us throughout the evening. The pianist was excellent.
We found the Hotel staff all very accommodating and very professional, Derek in particular who went out of his way to ensure our stay was something special and one which was a memorable one. Thank you Derek, it was, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and look forward to visiting again in the future.
I love staying at The Carrington, I loved my room with a view and the warmth of the staff and the beautiful old Hotel, never disappoints
One of my favourite hotels in the whole world. Beautifully restored and maintained hotel without being over the top or losing its authenticity. Thoughtful and attentive staff.
Only issue was the very limited dining days and times. Would really benefit from having the dining room operate Tues-Sun.
Staff helpful and trying to maintain covid rules. Food tasty. Coffee cold. Beers and wine chilled well.
Great staff, vintage building in various stages of refurbishment, wonderful lead light windows. Although dated has a nice historical feel with good service.
You cant fake the old grandure of places like this. Yes the stairs creak but the atmosphere is beautiful and the staff are so helpful.
The "Seniors" mid week special is great value $440 per couple, inc afternoon tea, breakfasts, 2course dinner in the grand dining room. Charming place with friendly staff.
The gardens are lovely. The rooms are warm and comfortable. The decor is amazing so relaxing you feel like you stepped back in time. Bar restaurant and communal areas are all lovely.
It's always be a historical beautiful mascot place in blue mountain.
So big, with different rooms, including outdoors and nice garden area.its tidy and clean. A renovated ladies/A gentlemen room.
Good place to stay in or having Sunday morning tea or catch up with friends/family in Saturday afternoon.
The food or drink are not that expensive.
Terrible experience. Wanted morning tea and was turned away at 10.40am. Asked to use the bathroom and was refused. Will never visit again
A beautiful lady of passed days I didn't stay just wanted to have a look and grab a meal but the dining room wasn't open on Sunday So one could eat at the bar or the old city bank chose the city bank as menus options at the bar didn't suit the person I was with. To my surprise the old city bank did not serve coffee but can recommend the classic hamburger and panacotta. Alcohol choices a plenty but no coffee and just as a side note not a good look for staff at counter to be drinking coffee when one cannot purchase. I used my Covid Dine voucher to pay for meal.
Beautiful old hotel, the room was lovely, very comfortable bed, we had a private bathroom at the end of the hall which was beautifully renovated. Many gorgeous lounging areas filled with interesting historical pictures and other art. Inside car parking is always a plus. Room serviced daily during our 3 day stay. The only drawback was the sparseness of the included continental breakfast.mainly cereal, toast, pastry and yogurt, no fruit or cheeses or cold cuts
Beautiful building with delightful common areas, lounges and a nice garden out the front. Rooms are nice and clean with comfortable beds. Downside is the rooms are noisy from neighbouring rooms, the one I am staying in is only seperated by a door and I have late night sounds on one side and a noisy family up early in the morning on the other. Very disspointed by the breakfast, luke warm filter coffee and the buffet almost completely empty, just some sad muesli and toast. Come on guys its 2021 get a real espresso machine in there!
The gluten free high tea range of food was quite good, and I enjoyed the strawberry and cream tea. The service was quite good, staff were very helpful.
Absolutely LOVE the hotel. The old world character and charm of the hotel takes me back on a regular basis. The rooms a re beautifully clean and comfortable. Staff can't do enough for you. Located in a central position in Katoomba. Would definitely have dinner again at the City Bank Brassiere.
The hotel looked and was welcoming. We went there as a large group for lunch. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food however left much to be desired. I had beef which appears to have been drowned in HP sauce.
Not impressed with the "rules" imposed by bar staff but such an iconic building. A bucket list experience x
