The Carrington Hotel reviews
60 I didn't stay here, so I'm not sure about the rooms.
I had a wine, very relaxing and the staff were friendly and helpful.
What a beautiful hotel.beautiful food, cold beer's, friendly staff, very clean facilities.highly recommended
The hotel is very historic. The garden is beautiful with lots of birds. Close to the train. The staff was friendly and efficient. Needs serious dusting. Maybe that adds to its character.
I would highly recommend this beautiful hotel, everything was perfect for our stay. Room comfortable, roomy
restaurant perfect, staff were amazing, pleasant, and courteous
It's old, and you can feel it. - The reception staff is super friendly and helpful, the dining room staff doesn't give a damn at breakfast. The rooms are clean and neat, the bathroom is outstandingly great! The ground floor with all it's traditional rooms is enchanting. The included breakfast option, and even the paid menu leave room for improvement. Little choice for certain food intolerances. All very cheap option at offer and not satisfying for someone with a sensitive tummy. For what I have experienced, I'd pay AUD20 less to match the cost-value-level.
Beautifully restored hotel with a grand dining room and also the more casual attached pub. Just go in for a look or a drink at the bar open in the arvo in the main hotel
Superb Katoomba pale ale brewed on site and great pub lunches in a great setting at the front of the hotel
Very nice atmosphere and groovy carpet. That was however, the single most expensive cup of dejeerling tea I've ever had.
Beautiful place with lovely outdoor area. Yummy food, great coffe, tasty cocktails. Friendly, relaxing atmosphere for families and groups!
The Carrington Hotel is very very special.
Special places are becoming fewer and fewer in an increasingly fragile world…… it is a credit to all those who operate and maintain this beautiful hotel…. And blessing for those of us who drop in for a gin and tonic occasionally.
Lucky enough to sit beside the fire on a coolish day. Staff r pleasant with a friendly smile. Scones w jam and cream w a tea was perfect.
Beautiful old world hotel, we had cocktails and mocktails in a ante room that was filled with books! Stayed for 2 hours chatting and soaking up the charming atmosphere!
We dined in the stunning Grand Dining room. The pianist was a wonderful touch to an exceptional evening.
Our starter was a delicious Mushroom soup, followed by the Main dishes which was a devine Beef cheeks dish and a Fish dish.
We finished off with a huge cheese platter and the most decadent Key lime pie.
The Toblerone cocktail was made to perfection.
The staff were incredibly friendly and professional.
The Grand dining room really sets the atmosphere of total relaxation.
Thank you to all the staff (chefs, waiters, bar staff etc)
We are already planning a return visit.
Enjoyed the Blue Mountains Ukelele Festival at the Carrington. Great food, fabulous atmosphere and friendly staff.
It may not have the Hydro's views but it does have THOSE windows (lead-light, 1930's.beautiful), the domed skylight in the bar area, the outdoor terrace where one feels like royalty when sipping one's tea and.in these covid-sensitive times, a lounge area which always features what we have come to call social distancing but which used just be known as polite, out-of-earshot spacing.
The food and beverage selection is good, the staff friendly and discreet, the ambience wonderful.
And, don't miss the Carrington's Providore (outside and through the visitor carpark).
This place was fantastic. Old world charm meets modern comfort. Highly recommended. Right in the heart Katoomba. Loved it will be back.
Very poor service at the bar. Had to wait a ridiculous amount of time just to be told they’re not serving beers or food. A group of us were ignored for 10 minutes
Had an excellent experience. Amazing building great service good food what more could you ask for
When my husband and I first started dating, he took me to the Blue Mountains Ukulele Festival at the Carrington Hotel (this was in 2018). The moment I started walking up the drive-way, I knew this is where I wanted us to get married (if indeed I was the one!). The day that Adrian pulled out the engagement ring from his pocket, the first thing that ran through my head was "WE CAN'T AFFORD TO GET MARRIED AT THAT HOTEL! ".
Immediately, I contacted the team at The Carrington and was shocked to find that they were the most affordable and best value for money compared to all other venues I had enquired about in the Blue Mountains.
We were engaged in August 2019 and were set to get married in March 2021. I'm a wedding singer, and I know that weddings can be painful to plan at the best of times. Having to navigate the standard wedding planning stresses were hard enough let alone throwing in a bushfire, pandemic and the week before our wedding - floods into the mix.
In December 2020, we received notification that our wedding co-ordinator had moved on and we would soon be contacted by a gentleman named Jamie. I'll be honest, we were quite concerned. But Jamie and hospitality manager Ben came through. Every hurdle we encountered, they had a solution. In situations where they didn't have a solution yet, they always assured us they were working on something.
Any questions we had were always promptly responded to and never ignored. Jamie would always prompted us to think of things we may have forgotten which was always helpful. Adrian and I planned the wedding ourselves, so it took a lot of the burden off us.
The day before our wedding, we received a call from one of our vendors Gelato 66 who had been trapped in the floods. They could get the gelato to the hotel, but they had no way of serving it. Hospitality Manager Ben stepped in and ensured he had staff who could serve the gelato and he made a make-shift serving bay to have in the Grand Dining Room. This is just one example of where the Team went well and above to ensure our day was perfect.
As a wedding singer, I'm use to setting up and seeing the bridal party rush in a few hours before the ceremony to set up chairs, layout favours and other tasks that take time. Meanwhile, Jamie ensured that the Carrington staff laid out all the wedding favors just as we asked, ensured seating charts and wedding posters were printed and other tasks that an anxiety riddled bride and groom simply couldn't handle given the intense stress levels at the time. They even printed out the menus using the design from our welcome posters and seating chart to ensure everything was matching.
I cannot praise the Carrington Hotel or their staff highly enough. Our guests adored the venue, found all staff to be helpful and have since re-booked their next get away.
Our experience working with the venue and it's staff is proof that sometimes things aren't too good to be true.
Always love this place. Excellent Espressos made from friendly staff. So sorry I won't be there for a while
