Beautiful food and friendly staff. Good place if you wanna try a different Thai cuisine! Pricy though.

Delicious, interesting dishes. Little bit pricey and can be very busy, but it's worth it. Tried the 'trust me' menu and it was incredible.

Love this place. Food and service is always excellent. The Trust Me menu is our usual choice. Superb wine to wash it down.

Beautiful food, but very quick to bring out food. I suggest you order entree & wait to order main!

Food is lovely with punchy flavours. The service is excellent and the staff give you really good recommendations: honest ones that are not made just so you order more. We have some overseas visitors next month and will bring them here:)

This place advertises it closes at 11pm by kitchen closes heaps earlier. False advertising! I was starving and they wouldn’t even do takeaway orders. I guess I was saved from their overpriced food with limited range of Thai food to suit my dietary requirements.

Another amazing experience at Sugarcane! They have just nailed it - consistently great food and outstanding service! Took my sister from UK for 50th birthday and she loved it. Staff are so genuinely lovely and a birthday desert on the house Thank you @Sugarcane

First time at Sugarcane and wow did not fault any dish or service. Yes this is a slightly more pricey restaurant but it is worth every cent.that is why it is always busy. We will definitely be back to explore more of the menu.

Sugarcane has been on our culinary ‘must visit’ list for a while now. We had a free weekend so decided to visit for lunch on a rainy day, since it was quiet and we could easily get a booking.

It is in a beachfront location at the Southern end of Coogee beach below the Adina apartments. The venue has some outdoor seating, and a covered alfresco section, though we’d recommend sitting inside as the styling is simply stunning. The glamorous venue has dim lights, bamboo features and hanging greenery, the space feels like an upmarket Asian hut.

The restaurant is inspired by flavours from Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia and a fusion of South East Asia. The menu at this restaurant has a lot of appeal, with its beautiful curries, roti and whole fried fish, and the dishes come in entree, small and large plates designed to share. Most of their dishes can be ordered in half sizes too. For those with dining requirements, there’s a number of vegetarian options as well, though their menu strongly features seafood.

We tried each of the bites which are priced per piece

- Rock Oysters with Miso & Lime, Nahm Jim for $5 each
- Rice Cake with Prawn, Coriander, Rujak Dressing for $7 each
- The Betel Leaf was topped with a flavourful Kingfish, Kalas, Coconut
- The crispy tortilla was piled high with a refreshing crab, Green Apple, Coconut, and lime favoured salad for $7

Each of these bites were great, and we’d happily eat a few more if a dish of them were a little cheaper.

From the specials menu we ordered a crispy chicken bao and the favour of this was lovely, with the chicken sitting inside a soft pillowy bao for $8 with spring onions.

We opted for the large raw plate so we could share a few of the sashimi options. Each piece of fish was super fresh and the plate was accompanied by some dipping sauces.
The cold platter featured tuna, salmon and kingfish as well as some lovely raw scallops with eschalot, green apple and roe. It also came with a taster of their ceviche.

The food here is outstanding and the service is friendly and efficient, with the food coming out incredibly quickly. It is quite expensive, but it is a quality dining venue and the food holds up.

We’d be keen to return and try probably good in a group to try more options. We would consider dining with a group of friends and try their ‘trust the chef’ menu, available for 2 - 5 guests at $60pp or $70pp with dessert.

Staff are amazing. Friendly, efficient - everything you could ask for in wait staff. Food was Devine - crispy chicken in plum sauce, soft shell crab curry and a very exciting vegetable dish. A must in Coogee!

Unfriendly staff. Had 50% of what I tried to order and just said “we don’t have this today”. I’m celiac and after asking for gluten free I was offered regular gluten filled buns.sick. Also how do you not have a whole section of your menu available? No milkshakes at all available. I understand places run out of things but I just saw a milkshake get walked out to a guy.might only come back if I’m hard pressed to find food elsewhere.

Delicious food, awesome service. I would recommend the eggplant curry, it was devine. The Betel leaf to start is fresh, a bit spicy and really cleansing (so much so we finished on it). The GF desert is decedent and totally work the full feeling. Great portions and a wonderful evening out.
