My first meeting with the principal of St Leonards Carpet Court, Hai, was a mirror of every subsequent meeting. Profoundly polite and thoroughly professional. The feeling that 'the customer came first' was always present and request for advice and samples, always forthcoming. When our choice of carpet was finally made any lingering doubts were cast aside after seeing the carpet laid by an exceptionally capable family team over a period of two days. They, like Hai, were very polite and also very talented in their trade, and a wonderful example of how hard work endears these people to their newly adopted country.

Disappointing for the high price. Joins are quite jagged and obvious. No vacuum afterward, be prepared to spend an hour tidying up. Expected a more professional outcome. Sales staff were good however.

A distinct loss of faith in St Leonards Carpet Court and its owner, Shoushan, for their business practices. -

Three months ago, I selected (1) one colour of Godfrey Hirst wool carpet to be installed in my unit. St Leonards Carpet Court, however, installed offcuts (that the business openly stated it had pre-purchased) and provided me with (2) two different colours in (2) two adjacent rooms. Since then, the business has tried to palm the problem off to the manufacturer. -

This is misleading practice because a consumer guarantee applies in this case, which overrides any other warranty. St Leonards Carpet Court has a responsibility to provide a product that "matches the description". -

This makes sense because consumers have the right to expect certain things when they buy a product or service. -

And, consumers do not have to deal directly with third parties like the manufacturer because warranties are "additional" promises that a business offers on top of the consumer guarantees. -

Essentially, consumer guarantees are automatic and 'can’t be taken away' [ACCC, 2023]. -

As such, Carpet Court St Leonards has a direct responsibility to refund the carpet cost in full. If the business chooses to claim compensation from the manufacturer, it can do so at a later time. This process, however, has nothing to do with the consumer's experience. -

Not all businesses, however, are customer-focused. Sadly, the customer may not always come first in such cases.

I had an urgent need for re-carpeting of a large investment unit (80sqm) in an boutique high rise during a very tight timeline in August 2023. Additional electrical & bathroom works were also happening with various other trades. Mr Hai and his team at Carpet Court St Leonards (Crows Nest) promised he could do the job and he did not disappoint; the job was fantastic & very fairly priced for a “Bainbridge, Colour - 4 / Liberty Bay” wool carpet. The layout of my apartment was complex but Hai managed to avoid any visible joins between the bedrooms & living areas. Truly seamless. The underlay was sumptuous (as agreed). Hai was even able to manage an unexpected plumbing emergency (caused by another trade), in his stride & without drama or excuses. Total satisfaction was the end-result. My apartment was left tidy & spare carpet lengths were returned as useful mats as a complimentary extra!

Do not go here. Worst experience with tradesmen I have ever had. I had a floor installed. Next day the scotia was already coming off. They took no responsibility. The independent tradesman I got in to try and fix their work said it was the worst job they had ever seen, a floor is meant to be floating and it had been nailed in. Hence it could not move and buckled. Then they said it was the moisture in my house that was the issue. Absolutely appalling service. I would avoid at all costs. If it goes well, that is great but if they subcontract a careless tradesmen you are in for an ordeal.

Response to installer response: and photos were provided to you. I did not admit in the way you are saying and you know that. I was misleadingly told if I got someone to trim the edges of the floor then carpet court would come back and redo the scotia. I did this, carpet court came back and refused to install new scotia. I note, the manufacturer arbitrator said the scotia had been poorly glued and should be redone at your expense. Of course this did not happen. Here is picture of the nails for review, the tips of 2 nails through the floor upwards. I do not appreciate being accused of issues where the cause of the problem was created by the installer either. You can note the timings but frankly the backlash of commenting freighted me considering your ongoing treatment but people should know what happens when there is an issue.

I had a problem with the carpet in my house and I needed to ask for some advice on the model, size, brand, texture, etc. I had a quick and effective service that helped me with my doubts. I definitely recommend the service.

My new carpet from St Leonards Carpet Court arrived this week. Everyone was so helpful. Today I called in to say thankyou. They laughed when I said I haven't stopped vacuuming since - all totally worthwhile to have springy clean carpet. I was very pleased with the service provided by Carpet Court St Leonards. The quote (given without haggling) was significantly less than a competitor’s quote, and was reduced a little further after formal measurement of the rooms. Hai and the staff at the office, and the measurer who came to our apartment, were friendly, efficient and gave good advice. The carpet layers also were very pleasant, efficient and competent.

I've worked with the team at St Leonards Carpet Court on a number of different sized projects and the outcome has always been the same - exceptional! Honest, reliable and quality are a few words that come to mind. I'd highly recommend them to anyone looking to complete their next flooring project.

We chose our fabulous new Carpet, set the date, then they came and measured up. There was no wastage whatsoever and they made us three mats which the Carpet Layers bought with them when they laid the Carpet. Their Carpet Layers were also just perfect. All in all a great experience and we will be back to see Hai for another Carpet purchase for an Investment Property in the next month.

We love our new carpet! Carpet Court have been excellent from start to finish. We had to delay installation of half of our carpet due to renovations - this was no trouble. Installers were excellent. Helpful advice on how to care for it going forward.
