Shellharbour Family Healthcare reviews
33Hi I had a consult with Dr Hamut. I was so happy with his friendly and thorough approach to my situation. He explained the problem, even showed diagrams so I could better understand what was happening.
I see dr Stewart and he is absolutely amazing! However the protocols and procedures when it comes to appointments is ridiculous. I had been waiting 2 months for my appointment and as he called in sick I was told I had to reschedule but can’t get one until the end of the October. I asked to be put on the cancellation list and was told “ u have to call back everyday”. I’m sorry but if drs call in sick than their patients that had THEIR APPOINTMENTS CANCELLED should get first priority. Being pregnant I can’t wait that long for an appointment. I think the procedures need some looking at. Other than that it’s a good family practise but the wait times are absolutely ridiculous
I booked in to see Dr Christine Heffernan 2 months ago and went to my appointment today. I waited 1.5 hours in the waiting room before getting fed up with being I was "the next patient". I missed an unrelated appointment that I had scheduled for 1.5 hours after this appointment thinking that would give me plenty of time. Thr reception simply told me "haven't you seen Dr Heffernan before? She always runs late". I don't mind waiting to see a doctor, but 1.5 hours is absolutely excessive and I didn't even get what I went for because I wasn't prepared to wait an additional hour by the time she was ready to see me. Absolutely disappointing and would not recommend her to anybody.
Shame - This review is only for Dr Hamut. Dr Lina, Heffernan and Stewart are all five stars.
Dr Mutalip Hamut was rude, arrogant and appeared incompetant today.
My 9mo baby needed to be checked over and be given a medical clearance so she can return to daycare after having RSV last week. My daughter had symptoms since the week before but we attended the practice last Wednesday to see another doctor (who is fantastic) as she was having breathing problems which eneded up being Bronchiolitis. They swabbed her to see what the cause was on the Wednesday which ended up being RSV.
This backstory is important as we went today and he refused to even check my daughter. He didn't even once glance at her let alone do any observations as to him "she is still contagious as she got diagnosed 5 days ago" even though she had been sick for a while already.
When I tried to explain to him that she had been sick well before 5 days ago and what the other doctor had told us last Wednesday he kept talking over me and cutting me off and being really rude and dismissive. As stated before he never even looked at my baby who was asleep in her pram so he has no clue if she's still sick or not.
Either way I left the appointment because I felt uncomfortable due to being completely disrespected by him.
After I left he then proceeded to get into an argument with my husband in front of everyone.
For a man that's making six figures a year, plus is no longer bulk billed, you would think he would actually do his job and check out my child.
I have been seeing Dr Hamut for quite a few years now and have always found him to be thorough and understanding of my issues and needs. I would recommend to anyone needing medical help.
Dr Hamut is the rudest doctor I have ever encounted! I was there for my sick toddler. He treated us both like we had the plague. Looked in her ear and weighed her before I was told to wait in the isolation room. She had an ear infection. He came back with a prescription for antibiotics. Didn’t explain anything about the script, how long, how many times a day, side affects, even what it was, how to administer it etc.and walked away back down the corridor towards his treating room. I had to yell out to him “how many times a day? ” He didn’t bother to come back into the room to explain anything and said “can’t you see it on there, three times” whilst he continued to walk out of sight. I had to ask the chemist all of the relevant questions and even they were surprised by the appawling treatment I had just received from this doctor. I would never recommend this doctor to anyone.
Think twice about using this practise. I paid a consultantion fee to see a doctor who referred to to have a scan, then they had the nerve to charge me again to give me the results over the phone.
Absolutely discusting behaviour
More than 30 minutes on hold and receptionists wearing baggy blue masks as "chin nappies" does nothing to give patients true service or confidence in a medical centre.
Dr. Mutalip Hamut is one of the kindest, caring and most compassionate doctors. He has a great bedside manner and is knowledgeable.
I always have a positive experience seeing him.
Highly recommended.
:)
I need to say Thank You to Dr Mutalip Hamut. I am extremely grateful to have found a Dr that genuinely cares about his patients and their health. Dr Hamut is very thorough with both his examination and treatments. For the first time in over 15 years I finally feel as though I'm really being looked after and my overall health has already improved significantly. I owe it all to you Dr Hamut, Thank You.
This morn I arrived at 940 for a 10 appoint. Lined up where you usually do. All 3 staff ignored me. One guy just walked on to counter and she served him. Still waiting. One finally acknowledged me at 950. Not happy. So rude. Am I invisible!
I waited for over an hour and when i went up to ask how much longer it would be, i was told that the GP had skipped me. Here i am waiting while god knows how many other patients went in that were supposed to be after me. Not happy.
I’m sorry for running late. This isn’t the first time unfortunately as I struggle with my adhd. However, to have my appointment cancelled without any message to inform me, and without anything on the website upon booking to indicate that this was a policy.
I’m frustrated and desperate to see a doctor about my mental health.
The receptionist was rude and awkward, made me feel instantly overwhelmed with how she spoke to me.
Giving a 4 star rating because my usual doctor and the surgery in general is great. Had to see Dr Hamut and he was so incredibly rude to me. Also kept looking at his computer and wouldn’t look at me. Kept getting distracted while on the computer and asked me the same questions over again. Then when I answered would get confused because he didn’t know what he asked me. Very unprofessional and rude.
The reception staff were absolutely during our first visit to the clinic. Couldn't be more impressed with the friendliness and professionalism they showed.
I took my daughter to see Dr Mutalip Hamut who claims to be a child specialist. My daughter is on the spectrum and 8 years old. He was trying to look at her tonsils and after a bad experience a few days ago with a dentist was not willing to open her mouth wide. I was trying to demonstrate to her what to do while he impatiently waited and asked me to hold her while he looked. I would not do that as it would be very traumatising for her. He then proceeded to stick the tongue depresser in her mouth and tried to forcefully open her mouth which made her gag. He said that we had to hurry up because he had other patients to see and could not waste time. Excuse me, but we are entitled to our 15 minute appointment like everyone else and he literally spend 2 minutes with us. He gave up in a huff with my daughter.
I was appalled at his attitude towards my daughter or any patient. You don't make them feel they are wasting your time and you need to have patience with children. I wouldn't take my children to see him again.
Today I waited over an hour and a half for the GP to be told there was three patients in front of me the whole time. I called half an hour before my appointment too and still at that point there was three patients in front of me. So in over two hours three patients remained. I'm then told to wait in the doctors room with two under two year olds screaming as they're over waiting.to continue waiting for over ten minutes. I ended up leaving after waiting 1 hour 45 minutes without even seeing the GP. I spend less time waiting to see my private OB down here. Will never be returning here.
Reception staff are friendly and helpful. Doctors always listen to my concerns and help me find the best possible treatment
Terrible. Say the bulk bill but actually don’t. Issues of older patients are not taken seriously. Very disappointing from people who are meant to be medical professionals
The wait time to for the reception personnel is atrocious and bad. Waiting more than 10 minutes for the reception desk to answer your call is disgusting and lazy. The wait time to see the doctor is atrocious because the doctor runs late and the reception doesn’t bother letting the patients know they’ll have to wait.
Booked online and left work early to make my appointment only to be told when I got there that the doctor had gone home for the day. No issue with the doctor having to leave if they have to but the admin team failed to let me know so I drove 30 minutes to the practice and then home for no reason. Shame the admin team have put me off the practice as I have heard good things about Dr Stewart and was looking forward to seeing him.
