Petersham Park reviews
54 This was a lovely park offering plenty of shade. The kids playground is small but adequate. There is an off leash area for dogs. There are also clean restrooms and BBQ facilities.
The park is also adjacent to the swimming centre.
Great place to come for a picnic, with kids to play or just lay in the grass under a tree.
Nightmare to park. Also if you turn off Parramatta road to get to it towards the end you can turn left or right but this is where youl get stuck. Left is no through road and there is no sign so if you turn left expect to find dead end with a hundred cars behind you and everybody stuck trying to get back out
A gem of a park with a key place in cricket history. Contains a nice playground, lovely pool and oval. Skip the cafe at the playground and go to The Pig&Pastry adjoining the park for proper food and drink.
Okay, cricket history, you ready? Petersham oval is where Don Bradman scored his first century in grade cricket (St. George vs Randwick/Petersham). It also has a mural commemorating Molly Flaherty, the first female fast bowler in test cricket.
It also has a lovely historic gazebo. And check out the street library, two, actually!
And, as of that weren't enough to make you enjoy this gem of a park, read the signage about dogs. It's fabulous.
It's truly hard to believe this park is one block from Parramatta Rd, it feels like you're somewhere completely apart from the city.
It's a beautiful park. I think it's a bit too small but it's good. It does have a huge ground with audience seats for baseball, cricket or soccer.
Not what it once was. Toilet block seems permanently closed.why is that?
This place is now just a dim memory of the thriving hub it used to be.
Always a blast with my fur baby. Bring your doggos to have an awesome time. Also very family friendly.
Great lil cafe attached to the park and pools, the food is fresh and we'll prepared, the coffee is perfect aswell.
Gorgeous park with plenty of things to do with family. Big nice cricket ground with greenry all around. There are plenty of space to enjoy while kids can play around.
Great park, good sized flat track for bikes/scooters. Equipment for little & medium kids. Cafe to top it off!
Our local go-to park to walk the dog at. Lots of off-leash space and nice amenities nearby. Some things to be aware of, when it rains heavily some paths are unusable and the lawns are often left overgrown. I’m also not sure if there are public bathrooms available here.
Lovely park to get some walking in. Currently they are upgrading the paths to walk on. Nice little swimming pool and a great oval
Relaxed, well tended, pool, cafe. Nice place to read and some actual greenery in dense inner suburbia
Lovely park, with a picturesque cricket oval in the middle, and Fanny Durack pool at the southern end. Great for walks, or just lounging in the sun. Grab a coffee (or a feed) at the great little cafe just across from the park at the Northern end and go for a stroll!
Though it has been obviously sympathetically restored recently, the small heritage grandstand was in a poor condition of cleanliness and maintenance for the excellent grade cricket game at Petersham Oval today. From rubbish of all kinds on the floor including many broken glass pieces and bottles, a couple of books that looked as if they had been the subject of an attempt to burn, much spilt dried fluids, discarded food bags, bird droppings, discarded face masks and even a used rapid antigen test. The main metal railing of the internal stairs was badly broken, and part left of the floor of the grandstand as an additional tripping hazard. It should not even have been open to the public in that condition. I posted this review because this condition did not happen the previous nught. Photographs and a call will be going to Council tomorrow.
A proper functioning full scoreboard would be in keeping with the quality of the grade cricket being played - and other sports - and would be valued by the spectators. The heritage scoreboard is not in use - and has not been for a long time. Otherwise, the Oval is in a lovely setting, with beautiful natural surrounds ideal for a stroll or relaxing (or watching sports away from the grandstand with no idea of the score) in fine weather; for children to enjoy for play and picnics; and a pleasant place for companion dogs to visit.
Nice clean park with a generally medium crowd. There's a cricket area, pool (opposite the park with a small cafe). Overall it's a pretty good area for dogs & the general public of families. There is also BBQ's.
A fantastic park near Lewisham hospital dating back to the early 1800's with fabulous Sydney history. Originally part of the estate of Charles Wentworth until the local council purchased part of the estate to build the park.
Today it hosts the Petersham-Randwick first grade cricket team on a magnificent oval. The famous Don Bradman scored his first, first class century in 1926 here.
Beautiful grounds represents a great walk and the surrounding area is also worthy of a look with coffee shops in nearby Brighton Street.
Highly recommended by Colino1861
Historic oval with multiple sections to enjoy. The pitch itself is well maintained and surrounded by a fence, seating and trees. In other areas you have paths leading to some quiet spots and there is a decent sized modern play area and public pool. Many locals frequent the park so it is quite popular for picnics, training or just taking the dog for a walk.
A gentle combination of quiet, sports and child playground areas, perfect for family and group activities as well as individual/self/small group ones.
Plus, there are two cafés in the area.
Great outdoor workout place. Good for walks, running and jogging. Best local area for Cricket net practice if you have your own cricket kits
