I feel the administrative staff lacked compassion and awareness of their patients circumstances. I enjoyed speaking with my psychologist, however didn't feel she was properly prepared for our sessions. I did most of the talking and wish they were more guided and sprinkled with pre-planned exercises and teaching of coping mechanisms. I feel better than I did when I arrived for my first appointment, however should I decide to have additional treatment, I will search for a team that is more organized and in-tune with their environment.

MALPRACTICE IN ITS PUREST FORM, COURTESY OF A DANGEROUS DOCTOR, DR. MARK YIM.

Misdiagnosis has ruined my life, I tried to take my life on medications he put me on - a constant and vicious cycle. He got it wrong and sent me away. Reading other reviews this seems like a common theme with Dr. Yim. He is clearly inept at diagnosing patients and doesn't care about their well being.

Find a proper Psychiatrist or end up losing a substantial portion of your life as I have and it would seem I am not the other one with negative experiences with this Doctor.

Cancel your appointment or risk having your life destroyed by an incompetent Doctor who should not be able to practice.

I cannot believe the whingers here complaining about Dr Yim. I have been seeing him since 2013 and I would not be here had it not been for him and his team. Some youth mental health problems are at least in part due to your parents issues, your own personality, your inability to snap out of bad habits etc it’s not all about medications, the wrong diagnosis, he will tell you if you are not doing something for yourself and some people can take that as offensive I guess. He is an amazingly caring person and he really should not be bulkbilling and seeing too many losers who don’t appreciate him, but he does because he does not want your lack of money to be a barrier to seeking help. I have come to truly believe that he is the ONLY psychiatrist who truly cares about his patients. And it’s his practice guys, he owns it and he set it up. He is the leader in the team.

I had some confidence issues and also some mental health problems. I went here saw an occupational therapist, who was of no help. A sleep professional Bradley who was rude and me feel scarred, also it was unpleasant being in his presence, smelling of a freshly smoked cigarette.

Then Dr. Yim, I was not going to write anything though after reading of other peoples horrible experiences I will say he did not help me, to put it lightly. I went in with some issues, I ended up leaving because I went from slight issue to sever insecurity issues, suicidal thoughts and when discussed Dr. Yim would tell me that is not possible. I am not sure if he is trying to convince himself or not, though the one thing I am sure of is that he does not know half as much as he thinks and he contributed to me living a now, miserable life.

I am sure there may be other people there who have helped people.
I do not like to write unpleasant things about people or leave negative feedback. I respect that people have been helped here, unfortunately I can not say the same. To the person saying the place is great, that is your experience and I respect that, I wish you would do the same. Life ruined, due to Dr. Yim looks like I'll be an inpatient for 6 months and hopefully get some professional help. TO anyone else struggling I hope you can find peace and if you feel uncomfortable their as I did, leave. There are other Doctors, Psychiatrists and other professionals elsewhere.
Dr. Mark Yim did not listen to me. I did what I was told, took the meds I was told too and now I have been committed and am trying rehab in the country. So while some people may have benefited from their services. I did not. That is my experience, you may try and dispute it if you wish.
Take care everyone, don't give up or feel your opinion is not valid. If you feel uncomfortable leave. Dr. Yim does not care and I received no follow up, as someone else mentioned a lack of duty of care, I couldn't agree more. I wish I never went to this place. I am lucky to have been put in contact with a Doctor who is helping me, slowly. I wish I had checked reviews before going there as I thought he was so kind and pleasant though it turned out to not be the case, in my instance. I can not speak for anyone else. Do not give up if you find this place makes you hate life. There is help out there, reach out to a friend or family member. There is hope for you, just not at Mind Plasticity.

1 star.
I noticed a review below. I am not at all having a gig at that person however in reply to this and I quote:
" I think the people who are critical of the staff have forgot or are unsure that dealing with a mental health issue is a two way streak and that the mental health professional can only do so much to help and that it is up to us to take the driving seat on our recovery journey. Taking medication and talking about your problems are only two factors (of many) that help with your mental health. If you are living an unhealthy lifestyle, taking illicit drugs and not dealing with stress then your mental health is going to suffer immensely, irrespective of whether you are talking with a mental health professional and taking medication. " - Justin S.

I was clean and sober. I was misdiagnosed as bi-polar type 1 and as Dr. Yim comes across as knowledgable it is obvious he is not. There are countless times he did not have a clue what he was talking about with certain medications.

So how can you have a go at someone when you have not walked in there shoes? I trusted Dr. Mark Yim because he comes a cross as friendly and knowledgable. His incorrect diagnosis led to years of antidepressants, benzo's, LYRICA, xanax, Seroquel XR, Seroquel, Lithium, Toprimiate, Epilim, Metformin. TO his credit the metformin did prevent diabetes although I took that to counter attack the Seroquel, I should never have been prescribed.

You mention life style. I was clean and healthy yet he suggests a referral to the suboxone program. That is not how it works and just one of many examples that prove he has no idea and does not care about the well being of his patients.

Yes it is a two way streak and I made the mistake of trusting Judas in the form of Dr. Yim and spent years going up and down on almost every antipsychotic and mood stabiliser there is. He refused to accept that these drugs can bring on suicidal thoughts, completely change my outlook on life and was actually near suicidal for the first time in my life, based off of his professional advice.

Good boy take your meds. I put on 40 kilos, lost touch with friends achieved nothing, felt awful and constant up and down of heavy Psychiatric medications is not good for the brain.

It has been confirmed by several professionals that I show absolutely no signs of bi-polar disorder, or mania yet have a anxiety disorder. I am aware of this. I sat there and listened thinking Dr. Yim was helping me though he wasn't. He set me on a downward spiral because he failed and destroyed my life with his misdiagnosis. There is no accountability on his end and no lack of duty of care at all. Sent on my way.

Suicidal thoughts induced by Lamictal, about the 10th med I had tried he dismissed my claims that it warped my perspective and was unwell.

Any Doctor that naive should not be allowed to treat people, specially with mental health.

If you want your life ruined or fast tracked to suicideville - then go see Dr, Yim. Otherwise stay away! Run!

Please do not let other peoples experience with one doctor that practises here deter you from seeing some of the best Mental Health Nurses and Occupational Therapists that i have had the pleasure of working with. I would not be where i am today without their time and support throughout the years and am grateful they were able to help me when they did.
