I was lucky enough to have a fantastic outpatient psychiatrist (Professor Ian Hickie) for 30 years. He was unable to provide ongoing regular intervention due to work commitments.
For 2 years I was lost, I tried a couple of psychiatrists unsuccessfully & a couple refused to see me.
I am now seeing Dr Mark Yim. He listens, he remembers what I have said in the past. He explains & discusses issues with me, including medication (pries, cons, side effects etc) openly, which is very rare in a psychiatrist. He respects me & provides a wholistic therapeutic approach.
Mark does not overcharge people like me who r struggling on a disability pension, out of compassion. Again VERY rare for a (non-government) psychiatrist.
He is flexible and kind. I feel like he understands me & listens to my point of view.
He fits me in for more regular appointments when I am unwell.
I feel lucky to have found Mark, he helps me maintain recovery even with major setbacks.
Mind Plasticity is such a welcoming & compassionate place, where I feel like ‘we’ are all ‘equal’. There is a positive vibe in the place?

Mark Yim is an excellent doctor and is one of the few mental health professionals that provides high quality and accessible healthcare. I feel that I have benefitted greatly from the services provided by him and the Mind Plasticity team the last few years- thank you.

I have been to many psychiatrists and psychologists as a child and would not trust my care with anyone but Dr Yim and his team.

Since 2013, most notably Mark Yim, Jeanne Gehue and Angie Ralph have played important roles in treating and sustaining my mental health. I can say with certainty that without their kind and compassionate care I would not be here. Dr Yim has gone above and beyond endless times and has been batting for my mental health for well over 7 years. His approach to treating mental health is inspiring, and I would not recommend anyone more highly.

From ensuring the HSC was not a disaster for my safety to allowing me to come in and see him at minimal notice, Dr Yim and his team are a collection of people dedicated to helping others. You can tell these people are motivated by providing amazing mental health care, and my confidence has never wavered in their ability to help. If you have Mind Plasticity as a medical practice to pursue on your list, make it your first preference. From the bottom of my heart, this is a true and genuine account of their service.

I’ve been going to this place for quite a while, Dr. Yim has always been kind towards me, and has helped me develop a lot. The Center is always immaculate, and makes me feel quite comfortable. I recommend Dr. Yim, to everybody, he has helped many people, and me as well.

In 2012 after giving up on life after three psychologists and two psychiatrists were no help I met Dr Yim. I credit this man and his team to saving my life i only wish it could have been sooner. He's always been there for me and always finds time to see me even letting me book far in advance just so i always have a appointment with him if i need. He's always prescribed me the medication he thinks is right for me, some have worked and some have not, but he has always considered my opinion and has worked with me if i have chosen to discontinue and try something else as medication IMO often becomes less effective over time. He's been there for me for almost 10 years and has always been kind and honest with me even when i wasn't the easiest to deal with I always appreciate how he tells it how it is. I couldn't ask for a better Psychiatrist!

I have been going to Mind Plasticity for four years now seeing Dr Mark Yim and he has been an absolute pleasure to work with. He picked up the fact that I had been misdiagnosed and recommended medication that would help my condition, instead of potentially exacerbate it. He worked with me to find an anti-depressant that worked for me biologically, and although the medication I started taking eventually stopped working as intended, I was able to get 18 months where I had no mental health symptoms at all. I got my life back and it was if I was in complete remission from my disease.

Mark listens. Truly listens, in the way that most medical professions do not do. He values my input, takes on my feedback, and includes me in the decision making process. I have never felt like I have with some other doctors, where I am someone to quickly evaluate and then be pushed out the door.

I have also worked with Bradley Whitwell doing TMS and he is a delight. He is very skilled at what he does and is a lovely person to talk to. On top of that, he is very perceptive of how someone is going during their TMS sessions and has a sixth sense for when someone wishes to be alone or when they are interested in having a conversation. I really appreciate that Bradley does this as a worry of mine going into TMS was that there might be an awkward silence during the session or forced talk. It was a lovely and pleasant surprise to find out that Bradley is very good at 'reading the room' and giving patients space if that's what they desire.

The reception staff are so lovely and have amazing customer service skills. They all know me by name and face and greet me specifically when I walk through the door. They are always accomodating if I need to change appointment or in helping me get through to Mark if I need to speak with him last minute. As someone who does customer service myself and can be a bit judgey about the conduct in other businesses, I've always been very impressed by this team - their etiquette, their professionalism, their helpfulness, and friendly manner.

I couldn't recommend this studio more. I have in fact recommended it about a dozen times over the years to different people. For all the dark spots I've had when dealing with mental health services and professionals, Mind Plasticity and their team and a breath of fresh air and a dime a dozen. If you are in need of mental help support, I strongly urge you to see if someone in the Mind Plasticity team is taking on patients. Everyone deserves mental health workers that legitimately care about them and their progress, and this studio does that a thousand times over.

I’ve been seeing Dr Mark Yim for a few years now and with the help from himself and a psychologist he referred, I’ve made so much progress with managing my mental health and stressors in my life.

He has a rep for running late but that is one of my favourite things due to the reason why! Dr Yim approaches his work and patients with incredible levels of care and empathy. He tries to give everyone as much time and support as they need, which does not always fit into allotted appointments or scheduling. I’d prefer to be given extra time and support when I need it and in turn, wait while he provides the same to others.

Could not recommend Dr Yim and his team more highly!

Both clinicians have demonstrated compassion, understanding, and patience throughout my treatment. They also foster an inclusive environment where the patient plays an active role in formulating a treatment plan. These clinicians support medicare-accessible treatment recognising that people from all socio-economic backgrounds deserve help.

I've been seeing Mark, Bradley and Angie for years now and they have helped me get my life on track and I am forever in debt to them! My family and I honestly couldn't have asked for a better service. They genuinely want to help you and when dealing with them, it's quite clear how much experience and professionalism they have. 10/10. They are the best in their field. Amazing.

I've been coming here since 2017 so I feel compelled to leave a review of my experience after reading all the negative reviews. To preface I want to say I'm sympathetic to anyone that feels they had a negative experience however my own has been the exact opposite.

My impression of Dr Yim is that he truly wants to see his patients get better and believes that monetary restrictions shouldn't preclude people from getting the help they need. You can tell by the fact that he bulk bills he really takes it to heart. He's very generous with his time and treatments.

I do want to address more directly some comments I've seen regarding Dr Yim and his manner though. In the 3 years I've been seeing him he has always been respectful, compassionate and engaged in what I have to say. Dr Yim can be matter of fact in some regards and that might not be what some people want or need to hear, it really depends on the person but I truly believe he has his patients best interests in mind.

Finding the right treatment or medication is difficult and will take time, there's no one that will suit every patient, it's largely trial and error and will be weeks before effects show themselves, good or bad, this is true of any treatment from any doctor. Dr Yim has never been quick or haphazard with prescribing medication, always taking a careful approach, mearly letting me know my options. Dr Yim has guided me through several to find what is right for me and has always informed me of any side effects relating to medications. I have a sensitivity towards harsher meds and higher dosages so Dr Yim takes that into account, recommending milder medications and focusing more on cognitive behavoural therapy which suits my circumstance better. If you are nervous or have had a bad experience with medication in the past like me, let him know your concerns and he will work hard to come up with alternative, evidence based treatments.

I can say proudly that I am healthier now than any time in the last 10 years and even when I stumble or slip back, the tools and skills I've learned from this place mean I can lift myself back up.

I still have things I need to work through, it's a long process. I feel confident I can do that here with the staff at Mind Plasticity.

P.s Most of my experience is with Dr Yim but Brad Whitwell and Dr Alice Lo are both excellent as well

After seeing the negative reviews, I wanted to talk about my experience, in hopes that others won't be deterred from visiting. I've been seeing Dr. Mark Yim for over a year, and he's been amazing.
He always listens to my opinion, goes out of his way for me & is honest about medications. I've gone through many different meds, and he's values my judgement every time. Other psychiatrists have shown no regard my views, or my money. Mark noted when a medication was expensive, and other options were available.

Multiple occasions, i've been fit in last minute due to an emergency, and Dr. Yim has called me out of hours- he doesn't have to do that, but he does cause he cares. When I was experiencing financial hardships & grieving, he spoke with my psychologist (in-house) to find a solution, so I could still receive the care I needed. He offered to do this, I didn't even need to ask!
Additionally, the reception staff are LOVELY. Always so kind, and they've even gone to the effort to remember my name/who I am. Even when I call, they recognise my voice and know what I need!
Please remember how much more likely it is for people to leave bad reviews, then good ones. This clinic has lots of long-term patients, and there's a good reason for it.
This clinic has changed my life for the better, and care so much about people.

Dr Mark Yim is so full of his own self-importance he had no time to listen to my concerns. I found him very unprofessional. I would not recommend this man to my worst enemy.

The staff here, both medical and administrative go above and beyond to help clients meet their needs. This practice sets the benchmark for conduct and care. Thank you guys.

Dr Yim and Bradley are so good at this job, as long as you follow their advice and practice what they preach you will feel benefited from doing so.

Never feel isolated, I have been to hospitals in the public health system and hated life.for years!

Now to say it as it is, they have pretty much relaxed me and slowed me down to STOP DRINKING COFFEES!

A very neutral and holistic approach to well being and will get you the results you are looking for.

Doctor Yim is a fantastic psychiatrist. He was miles better than my previous psychiatrist and he got me the treatment I needed instead of just trialling different treatment after treatment in quick succession. Everyone at the practise is kind and friendly and professional.

Some psychiatrists believe that, because they have a certificate to show they studied for a couple of exams years ago, they know more about your illness and state of mind than you do after a single consultation of about 10 minutes or so and then completely destroy what hope and trust you have in those around you because of their complete lack of understanding and empathy. Be very careful of the surnames Rogoz and Yim, people.

Dr Mark Yim and the entire Mind Plasticity staff have been amazing, and have made an enormous improvement to my life. Every part of their service and treatment is as good as they can possibly make it, ever growing. I’m incredibly grateful for their practice and wouldn’t be here without it. Dr Mark Yim and his employees are by far the best and most qualified, and caring, that I’ve come across in 17 years of difficult treatment. I have and highly recommended them to people, and even my psychologist of seven years has seen massive improvement in me, and is grateful they work with me to help me whoever possible.
