Joan Sutherland Theatre reviews
46The main theatre in the Sydney Opera House lives up to the expectation. Big inside, decent seats, good accessibility, good box office. The good seats are fairly pricey, but to be fair I imagine that even the cheapest seats are pretty good.
Amazing to visit and experience a performance here - Opera or Ballet. Recent renovations ensure more space for the orchestra better sound and easier access for patrons.
Our first opera. Magnificent and spectacular but a 30 minute story that took 3 hours. But a superb venue.
Found in one of Australia's most iconic buildings (the Sydney Opera house) the Joan Sutherland Theatre is the Opera theatre. Though it holds almost 1000 people, it is much smaller than the concert hall and this plays into its favour with its outstanding acoustics. I saw La Bohème here and Opera Australia did a most magnificent production. I would most definitely recommend going here for opera as the quality is always top notch.
Must visit for every audiophile sydney visitor. I would have expected the actual interior to be much larger. So, I was quite impressed that everything fitted on the “Turandot” stage.
Acoustics are pretty good. The chairs are comfortable but the passages between the rows are a bit narrow.
