Jervis Bay Maritime Museum reviews
53A great collection of marine things+ a ferry with an existing history. Nearby is a pond with fish that you are allowed to feed. Don't forget cash coins to buy food
A fantastic museum, very well curated and lots of absolutely fascinating displays.
A real gem!
This museum, the Lady Dedman ferry Maritime Museum in Huskisson records the boat building history which once took place at Currumbin Creek, Jervis Bay. It is fabulous and also hosts an art gallery which is a lovely space.
Absolutely worth the effort for a Museum. Allow lots of time to see the inside, and then relax in the garden outside. It was a shame the boardwalk was closed for repair, but we will return when it is completed.
Picturesque museum with lots to see. Pleasant way to understand the coastal history and activities from the past.
Amazing little museum
Had the kids entertain wondering the ferry and finding the pirates rewarded by a snake at the end they loved it. And then feeding the ducks were a highlight.
Best viewed at low tide to see the fossils. Ramp down to the beach. The top few steps were quite boggy due to recent rain but doubt it'd be like that all the time.
The staff was very friendly.
Had a brochure of puzzles to work on for the kids to keep them amused.
Very interesting exhibits and well worth the look
Great for all ages. EFTPOS available for entry and the gift shop. A fantastic boardwalk over the mangroves. Immersive experience with a full sized ferry you can get onto and even walk underneath. Educational, covering science history and engineering. Very well kept.
I really loved going to the Museum. The place had friendly staff and I really like the variety of exhibitions for a small place. I like the display of rare rifles and swords.
Was better than expected, well curated museum and good for kids. I didn’t realise the fish feeding was a thing or that it was free, so looking forward to doing that next time. Pleasant outdoor stroll and two options for car parking.
They were closed but the lady Denman still looks great I sailed on her many moons ago on Sydney Harbour she's back home were she belongs a truly wonderful place to visit.
I visited this museum on 11 Dec 22. Staff in this museum are so polite and so good. They explained the entire museum tour in detail and also engaged my kids for a pirate and mermaid hunt around the museum. Hunt was so good that both my kids got engaged at one point as parents we got engaged too. Outside the museum they have a boardwalk around the mangrove. Wow experience for the mangrove walk, you shouldn’t miss this. Parking is not a problem, kids are free to enter. Adults are charged $12.50 each. You can spend easily two hours inside this museum. Not very far from Huskisson Beach.
Brilliant, interesting museum. Be sure to do the Mangrove boardwalk outside too. Adults $12, Seniors $10. Spent 3 hours between museum and boardwalk.
More than just a maritime museum with some local history of the area too. Lots of great displays and information. Absolutely perfect for a rainy day in Jervis Bay! We spent just over 2 hours there and could’ve easily spent more.
If you are interested in history, this place will not disappoint you. Loved the friendly seniors at the place. Spending about 1.5 to 2 hours will be ideal.
Extremely disappointing. Rusted metal fencing and other pieces of wire being used as a grate to prevent fish in pond entering the river. Seen a fish stuck in the rusted wire. Needs to be replaced with something safer for fish and more discreet. The jetty is half rotten and cordoned off with plastic tape. Fallen branches piled up and lawns not mowed. Really disappointing for a promoted tourist attraction. Has potential, but needs an overhaul with regular maintenance.
Take the right money with you no change no good for the kids who have there pocket money to spend
So much work and passion has been involved in the restoration and ongoing support by the volunteers. Well worth a stop and spend some time.
