The Cubitt's team did a wonderful job with our extension and renovation. The cost that was quoted stayed the same, no hidden or unknown costs. The work was finished earlier than planned. The workmen overall were excellent in terms of workmanship and they were very friendly, polite and mostly cleaned up well after they finished their work.

The project manager gave weekly updates of what was planned and what had been completed and the plans stayed on track, with some minor glitches that were readily rectified. We are really happy with the finished product and would highly recommend their services.

We had weekly updates of every step of the construction from the Site Supervisor, and the Head of Production was amazing, so helpful and kind.
What was incredible to us was how quickly they built the granny flat, once the paperwork was done, they started at the end of October 2019 they said they would try and have it completed by Christmas. But understandably with Christmas and New Year break their workers went back to work in the middle of January, we were given the keys end of January 2020! Very happy.

Our first introduction to the company was with Daniel, our sales manager. He was professional, listened to our ideas and took them on board (unlike some other builders we'd previously met with). He was patient whilst we organised and waited on funding for our full home renovation. Once we were ready, work started incredibly quickly with Simon overseeing the project. Simon was accessible whenever we needed him and helped explain processes and timelines clearly. All finishes have been of a top standard and nothing has been too much hassle for two very picky customers in my wife and me!
Construction was finished much sooner than anticipated and each time we wanted a variation, it was dealt with quickly and professionally.
All the trades that we have had come through have been polite, respectful and well skilled.

Excellent service from Ian Cubitts and the team from start to finish. John was assisting us from the initial visit to the showroom in Emu Plains right through to the signing of the contract. John was very helpful and friendly and helped with all questions we had. The construction process took approx 3 months and updates from our site manager Rodney were provided every week with updates on what was happening the next week. The finished product was exactly what we wanted and we are very happy with our new Granny Flat. Highly recommend Ian Cubitts

My experience with Cubitt's has been fantastic. The whole team were a pleasure to deal with, very professional and always eager to help. From excavation to moving in was around 10 weeks, a lot earlier than expected helped by good weather. We found the builders and tradies to be professional, polite, punctual, and experienced. They were trustworthy helpful with a sense of humour. Office staff were very helpful with ideas and suggestions to give us the best outcome to suit our needs. They are also the nicest people to deal with. We are extremely happy with the finished product and cannot recommend Cubitt's highly enough.

The most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. Uncontactable, management extremely unhelpful, rude and dismissive. A job which should have taken 6 months is ongoing 14 months later with no resolution in site. Please do not consider this company if you are considering any form of extension, granny flat etc! No communication with clients, contradictory information from trades people up to management. Deadlines never met.

Teams at Ian Cubitt are professional and actually attended to your emails or queries when asked. Tradies actually attend the site when it is scheduled. Completion was on time and just miss bits and pieces which is understandable and not a problem at all. The site was clean and no disruption at all. Rodney, Harry and Joe as well Adam and Mark from the design team and administration officers have been very accommodating and experienced in their field. The only minor thing for suggestion is to advise client what extra options are available for consideration on top of the normal standard things provided but for extra charges such as extra garden tap, tiling on the porch, etc. This is so that there will be no variation during building stage and customer is aware of the charges upfront. Other than that, everything is amazing. Thanks all for your hard work.

We have recently built a granny flat with Ian Cubitt's and cannot recommend them highly enough. From start to finish, which totalled 9 weeks, all personnel were professional, polite and accommodating. The site manager, Rodney Bracewell, was frequently in contact with me via email, updating me on each stage of the build. The quality of the workmanship was excellent.

We found the trades people very professional, polite and very helpful with any questions we had, the company was also very flexible with any alterations that we requested and the time frame from start to finish was great. I also found the smart home package very useful, checking the weather, finding out information, switching my light on and the ease of getting into the house when locked and a hand full of groceries. I’m looking forward to summer to operate the air con from my phone to come home to a cool house.

We are very happy with all the internal finishes and appliances in our new home. We have had problems with aspects of the exterior and would have appreciated someone other than the sales person going over every detail of the plans. Matt, our site supervisor, was very helpful and efficient at handling our queries during the build. We also were grateful that the complicated council approval process was handled by Cubitts.

The whole process was great, the contractors were fast, professional and very considerate of our family life. Very fast build and great service. Thank you.

I found Ian Cubitts very good and courteous, especially the site Manager, Grant, who was exceptionally professional and helpful, even after I had delayed things by my late request for an extra window. He often went above and beyond the call of duty by getting back to me even after hours or over the weekend, Their phone and email communication was very good, which is rare these days. As has already been mentioned by a previous reviewer, the tradies all turned up on time and the plumber was exceptionally helpful. Also a special plug for Kyle and the other apprentices.

This review is back from October 2017. I left this review on their Facebook page and had people commenting on it who had similar concerns. Not long after I posted this review, their review section was completely removed and they now post quotes from 5 star reviews of their choice and then refer people here for further reviews. So I thought I would put my review here as well so I can voice my experience with this unprofessional company. I would also like to add, not one person contacted me to discuss or address any issues, criticisms or concerns I had, despite my several attempts to get in contact Ian Cubitt himself.

We have recently had a 1 bedroom granny flat completed by Ian Cubitts, in which was not completed by contract completion date.

Our initial dealings with the sales officer were nothing short of pleasant and easy. Everything was simple, transparent and emails/queries were answered promptly. I would also like to note that the product itself once built is of decent quality and most contractors sent out to complete different stages of our flat were great, hence our 2 star rating, instead of a 1.

Apart from what I have highlighted above, our dealings with staff from Ian Cubitts (project manager and operations manager particularly) were absolutely appalling and painful. My husband and I were proactive in our preparation, making enquires with our council, obtaining a detailed topographical survey and pegging of the boundary by a registered surveyor. We truly believed there was nothing stopping this project being an easy job for Ian Cubitts.

Once the job commenced, we had a string of unexpected variations emailed to us at various stages of the job (some of which, after us having to chase up communication with them, were deemed invalid and withdrawn).

There were several issues queried by my husband throughout the job, only to be answered with one line non committal email responses, choosing only to answer parts of our queries. Not to mention, any time we did query anything to do with the build, attitudes towards us completely changed and we were spoken to in the most unprofessional manner. It was very difficult to get either manager on the phone. Work even slowed right down once this happened and there were week periods or longer that we had no one on site (I believe these actions resulted in our job running over time).

Most responses back to our queries, were "check the contract", despite my husband having to ask them to refer back to their own contract about several missed items and inclusions that were originally made.

Our main reason for dissatisfaction is poor communication and the way in which our queries were handled. Another common response was schedules are subject to change (which is understandable), however in the many times this happened, we had to chase up what was going on.

We engaged with this company thinking it was going to be a stress free build but found it was anything but. Based on this, I will not be recommending this company to any family or friends.

We have just finished building our granny flat and we are so pleased with the whole professional process. Ian Cubitts Classic Home Improvements are amazing. It was a extremely efficient process from start to finish. The local council held us up a little as we had a slightly unusual job but even through that part of the process ICCHI where great. All very calm and professional. I would highly recommend. 10/10

Their team looked after everything from start to finish including compliance and council submissions. Daniel helped me way more than I ever expected and the final product looks amazing. Very happy with the end result and will definitely use Cubitts again as I plan to build another granny flat on my investment property. Keep up the good work guys

As a transgender person I find it difficult at times dealing with people in ‘blokey’ construction or tradesmen. The Ian Cubitt’s team could not have been more respectful, from my sales rep, Greg, through to all the construction team and the girls in the office. Building a house and spending so much money is nerve wracking enough without worrying about unprofessional staff whispering about you! It was such a relief to feel reassured by the Ian Cubitt’s team each step of the way. Both my parents and I are stoked with the finished result (for them to live in)

This is the best organised company I have ever dealt with and I wholeheartedly recommend them if you are looking to build a granny flat or extension. Their prices were very competitive but what is even more important is the quality of the build and the customer service they gave us. All of the employees we dealt with were very professional but also very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. They gave us a schedule each Friday for the work to be done the following week so we knew when to move cars out of our driveway. Any communication we sent them was answered that day. And this part is hard to believe but it is true - the TRADESMEN TURNED UP when they were supposed to! The company has a site manager called Simon and he was excellent. He made a huge difference because he visited regularly to check on both the quality and the progress of our build. Long story short, our extension is fantastic and we couldn’t be happier. If you are looking to build a granny flat or extension make sure you get a quote from Ian Cubitt’s and I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed if you choose to go with them.

We have been impressed by the professional service provided by all the team at Ian Cubitt's. From the outset they answered all questions and were available when we needed them throughout. Our two bed granny flat was completed on time and within budget and we are very pleased with the result. We are already getting positive feedback on the clean and modern design. Would recommend them to others.

Really happy with my choice to go with these guys. All started with a very informative conversation with Tim to go through different design options, expected timelines and what the build process was likely to be. Once plans were finalised and passed through approvals, the build time was really quick and Rodney kept me informed the whole way through. Especially considering they stopped work over the Christmas period. Very happy with the finished granny flat.
