Hobbyco reviews
75What an incredible array of 'things' lol. I found comfort in this store it took me back years and even forward a few definitely check it out.
What a huge toy shop. They have a really huge selection of model building kits, and a great selection of lego. If you like train stuff they have that too, but those are very expensive!
I bought a die cast plane at this shop and service was great! I was very grateful for the effort the staff took to take the box from the shelf. Definitely recommend to collectors of any kind
I certainly haven't had the best first experience here. I ordered an item with express only to be told an hour later that there are delays. There are no memos on the website stating these delays before purchasing and it's very unprofessional to charge people more for express shipping without any notice beforehand of delays. Don't have storewide sales if you can't handle it, especially during holidays. It's cruel for the logistics staff and looks bad to the customer. I hope my parcel at least leaves your warehouse soon.
Staff is friendly and helpful and isn't pushy about you buying something. Though alleys are way too small.
Bought RG Gundam kits over here. Plenty of other kits from Tamiya etc. Store is next to QVB Light Rail inside QVB building so always want to come and have a browse
Great service, honest and prompt responce and reimbursement to freight mistake. I would highly reccomend Hobbyco to everyone seeking a decent, first class company to deal with on line!

The place makes you feel as if you entered a magical land! The attention to detail with its merchandising is implacable!
It’s one of those stores you don’t know where to look. There’s so much to look at. They have made the most of the space. They have a huge range of toys that are unique. Adorable felt creatures.
I love going into this place. There are just so many choices. Lego, Meccano, model cars, model trains, Japanese amine, jigsaw puzzle galore.
The Lego range is extensive.
Cool place with a lot of different stuff. Was looking at gundams and had a conversation with one of the guys working there about shows we were watching and he helped me with what I wanted to get. Feel bad cause I didn't get his name but good bloke. 10/10 would go again.
I bought a tank model for my son's school WWII project. The model toolkit was very useful as I had originally been using a nail clipper to cut the parts out. The sales person was also very helpful with getting the required paint.
The temptations start as soon as you walk through the door. Leave your wallet at home if you can't handle the pressure not to impulse buy
Bought a few planes and a few cars and one Lego set. The prices are expensive and I only bought them because only hobbyco QVB has the items that I need. The biggest disappointment is I have spent almost 400 dollars and I have to pay 2 dollars for 2 plastic bags. What a joke! The bags should be free for the customers especially for customers who have spent over $350!
The chubby caucasian guy upstairs has bad attitude. He has no common sense and is a dopey who knows nothing but act like he knows everything. He needs to go or hobbyco QVB will lose a lot of customers. There is a reason why upstairs is so quiet because every customer is avoiding this chubby dopey staff member. Downstairs at the register a staff name Chelsea always chit chatting with another staff name Daniel, it’s like they are a couple talking about where to have dinner instead of paying attention to what customers need. Very disappointed with hobbyco staff members with their VERY ORDINARY customer service. Another disappointment is hobbyco won’t accept American Express card payments. That is so inconvenient. Definitely won’t be going back to hobbyco QVB anytime soon.
Absolutely best hobby store in Australia wish we could get a store up in the Northern Territory.
Find such an amazing place for children's hobby boosters enhance intelligence for all ages Gifts for DADS too
Well stocked shop. Lots of kits. Ships, planes and armour. Paints mainly Vallejo. They use to carry Ammo but no longer.
Unfortunately I have had to pull my review rating to one star after meeting the new ‘toxic’ guy in the model train area. If this staffer thinks it’s cool to lay the boot into the previous person who looked after the model trains he’s got a lot to learn about retailing. I did not go to Hobbyco to get an earful about the mistakes of the previous model train area staffer. This new ‘hot shot’ who says he’s an electrical expert and now fixes the trains is also an expert in trashing the reputation of a previous long term, well liked staffer. My advice to Hobbyco Sydney is quickly adjust this new staffers attitude and store manner.
You have completely lost me as a long time loyal customer by what I was exposed to in the model train area. Read on if you want to get a feel for what was once a 5 star review.
I'm old enough to remember the amazing George St Hobbyco. This store has some of the magic still. Perfect place to burn up an hour looking at what's in store and there is something for everyone. Sadly Thomas The Tank stock lines can be very low at times. Staff there tell me they can only stock what Mattel have to offer. I also notice the dedicated model train service counter has gone. That's really sad to see go.
Overall always a great place to go, so much variety in store you just never know what you will find. The model kits and model plane range is great. I did see the last of the Hornby Thomas & Friends trains there. Sad that era is over now. Anyway just go there to see the amazing model railway layout that changes every now and then. Sure the prices here are a premium but look at the choices available. During 2020 this store has had some major changes, there seems to be less stock lines available, or maybe the Covid19 shipping issues is playing havoc. But I did laugh how a huge area of the store is totally dedicated to Jigsaw Puzzles. They have enough to last a lifetime.
Went in to get some puzzles as they had a sale. Not too impressed with selection and puzzles are a bit pricey so the 20% off was still not worth it. Smaller shop than I thought too. There's better online selection and cheaper for same puzzles. I was a bit disappointed.
I visit this brand almost once a week, especially the largest one in QVB, and can always buy some amazing models every time. The enthusiastic service of the staff is one of the reasons why I like to visit offline stores. Then, It's time to show off my Unicorn Gundam collection.
It's been a while since my last visit to Hobbyco thanks to COVID, but I'm happy that's behindus now. So many things to choose from, it took me a little while to find exactly what I was after. The staff are really helpful and very friendly. Glad to be back!
