Stuart and the team really are the best of the best. After completion of the 8x8 Intro to Woodworking course, I have come away with new found skills and confidence that I did not have before. Heartwood's professionalism, skill, passion and expertise stand out from the crowd and made my experience so enlightening and enjoyable, especially for someone with no prior experience in the art. Very much looking forward to continuing my journey with Heartwood!

I recently purchased a “MyBench” workbench from Stuart and Carol at Heartwood Creative Woodworking and couldn’t be happier with the result.

The bench is so well made with such attention to detail that it looked like a piece of fine furniture once it was delivered and set up in my garage. I was initially a bit hesitant to use it because it looked so good!

It has the perfect balance of rock-solid stability, ease of transport (knock-down construction) and functionality. The design has been extremely well thought out - sliding deadman, split Roubo top with centre insert which flips to provide a planing stop, dog holes for bench accessories, an 80mm thick top which is beefy but still lets you clamp to it. The beech LVL construction means the surfaces are dead flat and won’t move with changes in humidity (which caused the retirement of my previous bench).

Stuart installed the HNT Gordon face and tail vices for me. These are also fantastic pieces of engineering.

Stuart and Carol were so nice to deal with and I was kept up-to-date throughout the construction of the bench. It has become the new heart of my workshop and changed the way I work.

Very highly recommended.

Recently completed the 8 x 8 intro course into woodworking and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to take on a creative project / creative release. No experience required, the instructors had a wealth of knowledge and were super helpful!

I bought a custom made workbench from Heartwood. It is so well thought out and put together it's made the world of difference to my workshop. I'd highly recommend investing in a Workbench from Heartwood whether you're a hobbiest or more serious.

This is the perfect place to start your woodworking course and skills! I have done the 8x8 Intro to Woodworking Class plus the following on course. Stuart is the most passionate teacher you can imagine with incredible knowledge and the small groups really mean you get a lot of supervision and one on one training. Highly recommend it!

It was an amazing experience doing the 8x8 intro course at Heartwood. Both Carol and Stuart -and all the other teachers- are lovely, and they truly want you to have the best possible experience. Not only a perfect workshop with all the best equipment and tools, but also the best human beings running it.

This school is perfect for anyone who wants to develop their skills in woodworking and furniture making. The workshop is very well equipped and setup, the teachers are prepared and very experienced. Will definitely be back for more advanced classes.

I great place with great teachers to teach woodworking to those without any experience, through to those with any level of experience. Fantastic machines, tools and facilities that will be hard to find elsewhere, especially close to the city. I'll definitely be going back a number of times!

I have been coming to Heartwood for over three years now and it is one of the best decisions I made in the past five years. If you are looking for a place with excellent teachers, small student groups and freedom to experiment and find your own niche, this is it.

Stuart and Carol are great people to boot, approaching everything with kindness and generosity, it isn't something you will find in a typical school.

What a fabulous day with Hape, Stuart and Carol. We all learnt so much in the space of a day and came away with a finished carving and the enthusiasm to do more. The workshop was very instructive and friendly. If I could just have put one of their magnificent workbenches into my bag.but they have classes to make those too.
