Gundog Estate reviews
58Cosy and relaxed ambience. Lovely and super friendly vibe. The hostess took us through the amazing wine-tasting experience. I’d say the best we had in the Hunter Valley during our recent 4 day stay here. The wines, especially the Semillons which are a speciality of the region surprised me. We picked a box of their best Semillons and red wines. Would like to have been there on our first day. Highly recommend them!
One of the best wineries in the Hunter. Became a member after the 2nd visit. We've always been served by the older gentlemen who is great and very knowledgeable about the wines.
Top notch service and really nice wines. Made us feel welcome and even gave our two dogs treats!
Overall a good selection of wines but its standouts are its treasure trove of semillons, rieslings, rose and muscat
We visited Gundog Estate during our 2 night stay at the Hunter Valley. We were warmly welcomed by a lovely lady who made us comfortable. Kylie then proceeded to also make us so comfortable with the wine tasting. She doubled as well as our Tour Guide, providing advice on surrounding places to visit. We ended up buying an amazing Muscat. Thankyou guys, topped off a great stay.
Great experience. Tegan was great. Very knowledgeable. Actually took time to explain the region from where the grapes were from as well as the wine making process. Were lucky to try the 2016 pinot noir. Amazing. Absolutely recommend to book a tasting with Tegan
Kylie was exceptional. She went above and beyond for our wine tasting. She offered many great food and wine combinations and allowed us to explore of palettes with no limitations. Best service we experienced at the Hunter Valley with amazing white and red wines. We are so very glad we came to the quaint establishment.
Gundog is an amazing venue. Great atmosphere, smiles on faces and a quaint cellar door. Tegan was extremely accommodating, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and entertaining.
10/10 would visit again!
Lively and lovely little place. Merry and caring staff, looks like a company's culture is good there, you can feel the warmth and jolly vibe.
Wine is nice, not something too fancy.
Not too many parking spaces, so come early, this is a popular place.
Overall, good experience, will come again.
Thank you for a very informative tasting.the gentleman that served us was wonderful, knew his wines and regions
The staff were unpleasant, we were 10 mins late to our booked time, and we were happy to miss a wine or race through a few. However instead of hurrying through the first one, we then weren’t told about any of the wines we were sampling from start to finish and were rushed through. 45-50 min seating in about 25mins, and asked to be very quiet. The wine was average at best and it was an all round very disappointing experience, I would avoid as there are so many other better places you could go in the hunter.
I had a lovely wine tasting experience. Matt was great explaining everything and I felt I improved my knowledge of wine and understand and feel what I really like. I leant a lot more comparing to any previous wine tasting experience. Very impressed with the Semillons. Definitely worthwhile experience.
One of my favourite wineries in the Hunter. It’s rare I can say that I drop into a winery and enjoy all the whites and reds, but at Gundog all their wines are exceptional. If you are in the Hunter, swing by you and let me know your thoughts:)
Wonderful wine tasting experience. Matt was very knowledgeable and nice to talk to. I highlyrecommend visiting the cellar.
Came in on a Friday morning without a booking. Hosts were so gracious to squeeze us in since they had availability. Off-dry Semillion was described as "pink lady in a bottle", and it was delicious. Hunting ale was refreshing on a hot day, and the sparkling shiraz was fantastic. Limited seating, bookings essential.
Lovely cellar door with excellent staff. Under the new COVID rules, we didn't book but they managed to fit us in (all properly socially distant). We ordered some wine but on return to Sydney, we discovered they had packed in a couple of incorrect bottles. I called them and they sent the correct bottles and these were received in a day via post. Excellent service and great selection of wines to try.
Not the place you go for a view, but definitely the place for great quality wines.
Small, but nice atmosphere inside.
Staff were very friendly and educated on wines.
Absolutely outstanding wine! Always our top stop when in the Hunter Valley. Their wines are truly delish. We enjoyed a lovely tasting over the weekend and couldn’t be happier with the customer service, wine info and company. Highly recommend!
Excellent tasting experience, our host was exceptional and the wine is delicious. Highly recommend putting this cellar door at the top of your list to visit in the hunter.
Great little cellar door with informative and fun hosts. Really nice wines including the Rare Game Shiraz and a beautiful rose. It was recommended to us by a wine expert back home. Gundog may not show up in your research, but highly recommend seeking them out. Bookings are essential right now as it is increasingly popular!
