Flavour of India Edgecliff reviews
77Great food, great service. Chef came and introduced himself and gave us some complimentary desserts which finished off the night beautifully.
Terrific meal with very friendly staff. You can see why this place has been awarded two hats. Do yourself a flavour!
Hands down best Indian in Sydney. Incredible food. Garlic and cheese naan was to die for and curries had amazing flavour. Exquisite service. Chef made all customers feel very welcome. This is a must visit restauant.
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal, the curry goat was excellent, tandoori chicken was great, all choices were up to expectation. Staff were all very friendly and pleasant, nice touch was the chef personally delivered a complimentary mango dish. Overall a lovely evening.
Absolutely amazing dinner for a cold winter's evening. The food was sensational and great value for money. Authentic Indian cuisine and lovely decor throughout the restaurant. The chef Hayat was lovely, with a complimentary dessert and sweet naan. Highly recommend, will definitely be returning!
Best Indian restaurant I had in Sydney.
Delicious food (Lamb, garlic naan and seafood), nice environment, nice waitress and chef. We enjoy so much here. Definitely recommend.
This restaurant is situated on the busy road and has remained under Chef Hayat for the past 28 years. Easily found parking right in front of the restaurant. Walked in and was greeted warmly. Waiters helped us through the menu. Didn't wait too long for food. The kitchen has tandoori ovens! Don't let the chinese waiter fool you. He's full of life and enjoyed his banter.
*complementary dips (raita, chutney, tomato-onion-cucumber) with pappadums - so crispy and not oily
*onion bhaji - was really crispy and loved the dipping sauce
*spicy crab entree is quite spicy. Of course, indians know their spices!
*malai kafta - vegetarian curry with potato and cashew. Love the creamy sauce it was in!
*best chicken butter masala - this one isn't as sweet as others and I'm loving it. Definitely try this!
*beef karala has potatoes and the beef is tender.
*goan prawn curry - is you love spice and prawns, this will hit the spot.
*the rice is lovely. I don't like basmati rice much as it's normally drier than other types of rice however I found this rice quite fluffy
*cheese and garlic naan - IS THE BEST IN SYDNEY! Goopy pieces of cheese and the bread is so fluffy. It's made fresh in the tandoori oven.
*if you like mango try 'mango kulfi'. It's traditional indian ice-cream. It's not too sweet and I found it nutty tasting. Mango coulis gives it a sweetness kick if needed
*lime sorbet is very tangy, it actually gave me a jaw freeze. I love anything lemon and I really enjoyed this
Overall food is full of flavour and even the cocktails has an indian spin to it. Definitely a refreshing surprise to see. We definitely enjoyed the night here. Thanks Flavours of India and the team!
Visiting and stumbled across. Wow, very nice, have had nice Indian in Sydney before but this was better, excellent in flavour, in portion size and the service was warm and welcoming. The mango kulfi desert (wow a suprise) with chocolate naan, it was a nice end to a fantastic meal. I have recommended to other locals and if you are in the area definately call in and experience yourself.
One of the worst curry’s I’ve ever had. Ordered by phone without seeing the menu.
Ordered a Tikka Masala and a Jalfrezi + poppadoms and rice.
Tikka Masala- Heinz tomato soup with some chicken.
Jalfrezi- Lots of chicken with a gravy like sauce and some onions- no other vegetables. Not spicy.
Poppadoms were ok.
Absolutely love jalfrezi and eaten it in many places in the world and unfortunately this was the worst to date.
Was fairly expensive so was expecting a bit of quality, this was a big disappointment though.
We really enjoyed our Monday night dinner at Flavour of India. There was a great atmosphere, followed by a free delicious dessert. Thanks Hayat, for a great night.
Excellent food and service.
The chef Hyatt has attention for details and will reward your palate with wonderful flavours.
Better than the local take away but not as good as several other nearby Indian restraunts. My wife and I agreed, it was ok but Malabar is much better. Which is probably why we couldn't get a reservation there but had no problem getting one at Flavour.
Sorry guys, the service was exceptional, but the standard of the food has dropped, so I must be harsh. Sort out the menu, and dishes please please please!
Awesome food, well priced and good portions. We loved everything we ordered. The service was the nicest ever and chef Hayat surprised us with this beautiful dessert. We'll be back!
Great little Edgecliff gem if you are looking for great, tasty, classy and yet unpretentious Indian cuisine. We ordered the mixed entree plate - the tandoori lamb was spicy and sweet and juicy, and the samosa was devine (the dough was literally “cuddly”). Papdam was light and airy and delicious, the naan even cuddlier.and my vegetable curry (eggplant, okra) was exactly as it was described - mildly spicy so you get the Indian spices without killing your palate. Service was great, respectful and the chef treated us with some mango ice cream ;) worth the trip.and not too expensive either!
The food and service was absolutely amazing, The chef personally came and said hello and we were very well looked after. If you are looking for beautiful and classic service this is perfect.
