Fitness Playground Marrickville

I left my old studio to join this gym on the pretence that i could attend their pilates classes and I have only been able to get into one class in the multiple months that I have been a member (and even then i had to be on a waitlist for it). The class registrations open 3 days in advance at midday, which seems to exclude people who work full time and cant be on their phones at work waiting for the registrations to open (the classes book out within 30-60 minutes of the window opening).

I have attended a couple of yoga classes in an attempt to get my moneys worth and they are uncomfortably crammed, to the point where you are touching your neighbour in some movements.

I feel like this gym should not be taking on new members when their existing members cant even get into classes, as it seem like false advertising to promote the reformer space when it isnt even possible to get into classes.

Everything is amazing, just that the lights in the dance studio needs to be fixed please! It is too dark and I could not see after my lesson due to how dark it was!

Lazy staff who can't even be bothered to let you out when your card stuff up they just sit there in there office looking at you with blank faces

Prettiest gym in Sydney! The wellness centre is absolutely beautiful. Customer service has been excellent, the staff are always friendly and helpful. Love the yoga classes, space is always clean and it's not overcrowded like some other gyms.

Amazing classes and amazing instuctors and so many classes. The wellness centre is just first class for yoga and pilates

I have been at Fitness Playground since it opened in Marrickville, and would not think to go anywhere else, even after moving out of the area. While I can only speak about the morning sessions, it is great to see so many like minded committed members training and enjoying the wide range of facilities and classes on offer. While it can get a little busy at times, most are there to get the job done, so equipment is freed up very quickly. Can't say the same for the smaller dumb bells that seem to vanish half the time. While there are a few sets of these, maybe another one or two won't hurt. Overall it has a great buzz, catering for all members, from experienced to newbies, and definitely not intimidating if you are no very confidents starting. They have managed COVID very well, and common sense goes a long way. Happy to recommend to all my friends without an issue. F

I’m just a visitor to this gym. I bought a ten class pass to use for the boxing classes and because I have a membership at another gym.

The boxing classes are energetic and fun. Fighting Fit gives you a good workout on the bag, whilst also working on your shadow boxing and fitness.

Fight Club is the reason why I bought the ten class pass - In this class you learn boxing combos. You partner up with someone to work with on the focus pads - something I’m used to and that I miss at other gyms that offer this type of boxing class (NOT boxercise). The only con is if you have a partner who is not confident/strong enough in holding the focus pads.

I tried Athletica Fit - Jose’s class on Thursdays is great. Jose will push you - he can see right through you and will challenge you to go harder (I had a lightweight on purpose - he saw it was too easy and made me go heavier).

I also tried the gym floor and let’s just say I’m used to my gym which is ridiculously massive with HEAPS of floor space. At FP I felt like you were training on top of people, I felt very claustrophobic especially in the free weights area (again, I’m used to a massive gym where even during peak hours you don’t feel like you’re training on top of others).

Again I only bought a class pass for the boxing. I’ve tried three classes which have all been great. Do not recommend the gym floor. Beautiful facilities though.
And lastly the reception/office staff are great to deal with. Friendly and professional.

Not full of gym junkies and look at me lifting tones.

All staff are extremely friendly. Music can be to loud at times.
PT's are good
Treadmills are not connected to the internet, which is frustrating. It would be good to watch YouTube ranther on your phone

Fantastic club. Am with the Marrickville branch and it is legit. Classes and gym are awesome and the wellness centre is an oasis. Shout out to Patrick who made the sign up process super easy

The gym itself feel ultra modern with all the bells and whistles you’d need to keep motivated and try new exercises. Heaps of classes to choose from too, I wasn’t that into classes (or didn’t think I was) until I did a couple. It’s a great way to get a good work out in without having to think about it too much lol.
I haven’t used the wellness centre yet but just having a look around there, it looks unreal and I’m excited to start using it (I’m still a relatively new member). There is parking on the roof too which is a nice added bonus, no parking dramas.

Fitness Playground has a very friendly and comforting atmosphere, with many helpful staff. The wellness centre is my favourite, with great yoga options that I’ve loved.

The wellness centre downstairs has the nicest receptionists. All of them no matter which day you come. Super nice when it comes to fixing your card, extending your pass’s expiry date because of Covid lockdown and fixing lockers etc.
They are all very well trained with the systems so they know the ins and outs on how to fix something.

Great instructors for classes, friendly and helpful, equipment always available and keep updated, new addition to Marrickville gym is amazing

Fitness playground is first class! I’ve been a member for years and so proud and happy to see FP grow, albeit covid. FP offers unparalleled service, very friendly and professional staff, state of the art equipment and recently opened the luxe and impressive wellness playground. FP is not just a gym, it is an evolving healthy community. So be part of it!

THEY CHARGED ME TO CANCEL MY SUSPENDED GYM MEMBERSHIP AND THEY DO NOT RESPOND MY EMAILS!

I suspended my plan due to the closure of the gym - Covid.
With everything going back to normal I asked to cancel my SUSPENDED plan as I am moving from the area.
They got money from my account informing me that I need to give them 30 days notice before canceling it hence why they where deducting money from my account, however, my membership was not active, I have never informed them that I was going back to the gym so I’m requesting to cancel a SUSPENDED plan, they have no rights to get money when I have never decided to go back to the gym.

I have sent 3 emails and they are just not getting back to me at all, that’s not acceptable, I just wanna cancel my plan which was already suspend to begin with as I’m moving out from the area and I’m 9 months pregnant. I want my money back that they charged me for no reason leaving my bank account on negative as I did not have this planned.

This gym seems to be a victim of its own success. I know coming out of Covid it’s been really hard to find trainers, but the booking system makes it impossible to get into classes, which are the main reason I joined. Everything is booked out at midnight within the 3 day window. The wait list function sometimes works, but when it does there’s little notice. They might benefit from penalties for members who constantly book and cancel classes leaving nothing for the rest of us. But at the end of the day they have too many members and not enough classes. I’m giving them 2 more weeks to resolve it and if nothing changes I’ll be sadly canceling my membership.

You have to have thick skin to come to this gym not ideal for beginners Surry Hills and Newtown are are way better

Only been 2 weeks since I started with my physiotherapist and it's been fantastic so far, fitness playground has a great vibe

Love the classes, amazing teachers. Crèche is great my son looks forward to going. Overall fantastic place very glad I joined.

My phone was stolen there. I enjoyed classes but classes are always full and the gym is too small and smelly too. They charge you if you can't make it to a booked class. It is very difficult to use the facilities. The membership price is too expensive.
