Fitness Playground Marrickville

Group exercise classes, so many squat racks and Olympic weightlifting facilities are awesome here

The gym has awesome machines and freeweights, but it is seriously oversubscribed. Between 05: 30 and 08: 30, expect to queue for every machine/station. This is made worse by PTs who all seem to train compound sets, so reserve a station and move between them. If you can train between 10: 00-16: 00, it’s a great gym, otherwise best avoided.

Update: Jan 1st and the gym is still oversubscribed…. Just watched 2 girls reserve 2 benches and then disappear for 10 mins … came back and used them to do sit ups (?) - disappear again… 10 mins later, more sit ups… came back 10 mins later and just took towel without doing a set!? !

The owners of this gym really need to step up and do something because a massively oversubscribed gym X a lack of basic gym etiquette, makes this an awful place to workout

NEVER SIGN UP WITH THIS GYM!

Absolutely unethical treatment. Like with many chain gyms, the moment you sign up - they will do anything to get your money. If you want to cancel your account, they will ignore your emails, charge you and make it as hard as possible for you to get out of your membership. I don't need to have to make a thousand calls and send hundreds of emails to end my membership. STOP MAKING IT UNCOMFORTABLE FOR PEOPLE. CANCEL MY ACCOUNT AND GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK.

I love all classes in One Playground Marrickville … all the teacher very fun to train with.

A great range of machinery & classes. BUT I can't give it more than 3 stars as there is no management of misuse. Machines are constantly 'held' by people leaving their belongings on them while they're on other machines. You can do two sets next to machinery with a towel or bottle on it with no return of the other patron. Weights are all over the place with little respect & infrequent returning.

I really hope management can get this under control.

Joined this gym for the kinds of equipment and space they had. Then came the renovation. I made internal complaints, and they acknowledged they got a lot of complaints about it, but nothing was done.

Monumental f up from the then Fitness Playground now “One Playground”.

“Playground” is an appealing word to use in a business name because it makes the gym look like it’s more than just treadmills and weights. It’s not. It was, but now it’s not.

The gym is packed, members have no consideration for equipment and leave it lying around anywhere and everywhere. Trainers and members have no consideration for space (lost space since the renovation) and sometimes set up cones around them to hog more space. This morning there were no gym mats available even though it seems like there were only 4 or 5 in use.

Being a member of this gym has just reinforced my disdain for gyms as a business. I joined this because it seemed different, and it was until the renovation. But it’ll make no difference to this business because they’ll just keep pumping through signing up members $$$

Painful process to try and join. Was advised I wasn’t allowed to just drop in and speak to someone/look at the gym. I had to make an appointment in advance. We found this really difficult with our newborn baby, which I explained, but their booking system is so rigid. Will look elsewhere.

I had to move overseas for work in February and this gym is one of the things I miss the most about Australia

Great place to workout. The staff has always been super helpful and accommodating. Looking forward to rejoining at the end of the year!

The gym is equipped with excellent facilities. The staff here is incredibly friendly and extremely qualified. The workouts are fun, and It is inspiring to witness fellow members at the different stages of their journey.

Personal trainers are professional and knowledgeable who give hands on instant feedback and adjustments during the workouts. I would personally recommend Mihelca Gustin. She makes every session challenging which resulted in an improvement in my fitness levels to complete more core exercises and lift heavy weights progressively. Each of her sessions is filled with challenging and fun workouts that helped me to push myself harder each session.

The music is blaring and the atmosphere is awesome. I recommend it highly to anyone who wants a kickstart in their fitness journey.

This is a great clean gym with friendly staff. The classes are also enjoyable with great trainers. Highly recommend.

Great vibe but I have two issues with the gym:
1. The fixed bench presses are quite narrow so your shoulders aren't supported
2. They blast so much air freshener you can smell it on the street outside

In the last 12 months the Fitness Playground staff have provided me with the knowledge, support and encouragement to stay as healthy and fit as I possibly can - given the limitations of my age and past injuries. Also a big plus is the large number of options and times of the group activities available. The space downstairs where the activities take place inspires you to spend time there and is probably the most aesthetically appealing gym area that I have encountered. I’m very glad that I came to this gym when I moved to this neighborhood.

Nice clean, luxurious facilities with a great variety of classes.

I love Fitness Playground! I go to Surry Hills but tried out a class at Marrickville and I've been very impressed with both gyms. They're clean, people are nice and helpful, and the amount and quality of equipment they have is great. Whether you're just starting out in the gym or lift regularly, you'll find something (or a lot of things!) to love about this place.

The classes and the facilites are fantastic and at a great price! I can use all 3 locations which is a plus as they are all conveniently located.

Love this fitness centre. There’s such a great variety of classes as well as a great gym. The staff are professional and provide great advice.

Great set up, friendly and engaging coaches, overall less ego driven vibe in the joint. Absolutely love coming in here.
