Fitness First

Classes are good, and big enough space for the gym but Staff are incredibly rude. Front desk girls are really not professional. Every other Fitness First I have been to the girls at the front desk are so lovely and accommodating, they will go out of their way for you, but not at Carlingford, when you ask a simple question you get an attitude filled response and a big sigh like you are wasting their time. Less time I spend there, the better!

A waste of money. Still taking money from me when I froze the account.would not go there again.

I don’t know if this is the shopping centre’s issue or Fitness First’, but they really need to turn on the air conditioning. People are at risk of passing out at the gym with the temperatures inside the gym

Had an issue with payments so they cancelled all my classes. The payment issue was due to inconsistencies with what was communicated to me about the dates that payments were taken. I tried to contact them to rectify and no one bothered to get back to me. Really poor service and practise. They're happy to take my money but not to offer service in response.

Big and spacious gym, friendly staff and good amenities, however the machines are a bit dated and require an upgrade.

Recently a bit better but used to be very crowded and you had to wait long for machines and equipments get free.

My regular gym. Today, a girl at reception asked me if I had my towel with me. I said yes. Then she said if she can see it.

Seriously? ! Do you think I'm laying about a towel? ! Am I a 10 year old that needs supervision? !

The funny thing is I asked her if she really needs to see the towel and if she doesn't believe what I said. She said YES. WoooooW.

I really don't want to hate the place that I go almost daily, but we'll see about that now.

P.s. The gym itself is okay apart from not having enough machines for the front of the thighs and needing to wait for a while for the broken machines to be fixed.

I have a very great information to share about fitness first in Carlingford.
When I joined this fitness first few years ago, there were two to three different memberships.
There was a great staff at the reception. He was an amazing person as he went that EXTRA MILE to help me to join this Centre. That time the membership that I joined I had to achieve a certain percentage within the three months time to be benifited out of that membership. He was so great. He encouraged, motivated me to achieve the target percentage and to be benifited from the membership.
I do value this to the utmost. I am totally grateful for this staff as I was managed to join the gym comfortably.
He has helped us and guided us too. Even my daughter.
Fitness first is so fortunate to have a great staff like DOMINIC. He is an asset for the company.
I thought I got to share this with the community.
Apart from that it’s all about the Zumba class
I went for this Zumba class which was done by AMY and all what I could say was her Movements, style, the steps and the song choice was EPIC. I enjoyed every micro second of that class yesterday.

Can you please remove the idiot cleaning guy who bothers people about putting the weights back. I understand it is a policy. You impose it to all or to none.

Throughout the year I was with this gym, they consistently failed to deliver on their promise of being able to provide 24/7 and they would still bill you despite not delivering. I speak for the male bathroom facilities as being constantly unclean as you would naturally assume. The sauna/steam room was beyond vile. And lastly, upon returning to the gym to cancel after covid, they had the temerity to demand further money from me for freezing my account despite not keeping staff on during covid so I could change my account status.

Great staff except that bearded fat indian guy. Need to work on maintainace ALOT and need to let the air conditioning stay on after hours.feels like a sauna.might leave because of that.

Disgusting and unsafe gym, advertised as 24 hours however no air conditioning or ventilation during unstaffed hours make it a horrible smelling sauna.

I am a long time member and I think Carlingford fitness first is going backwards all the time. The staff are lovely. And always have been. The management is slowly working at removing services and equipment.
As things need repair, they just remove it from the the gym. Instead of providing services to the members management is slowly drip by drip providing less and less for the money.

24/7 gym, the 7 stands for the hours the air-con is actualy turned on. The place smells bed and is unclean.

Air cond after hours is a joke, and bring your rubber gloves to wipe down everyone's sweat. Apparently towels aren't found anywhere in Carlingford.

What is going on with the aircon in the cardio area. It’s been months now with minimal aircon. If I want a sauna I’ll take a sauna!

Agree with prior poster. 24/7 gym availability is a joke because they shut off the aircon and you literally can’t breath in here after hours. It’s also dangerous for people taking on aerobic exercise who push themselves in that heat. Someone gonna pass out on a treadmill and hit their head. Mark my words.

I left virgin active to join FF because of 24/7 availability now. However now I think I’m gonna go join anytime fitness who know how to do the 24/7 thing properly. FF have aggressive membership growth campaigns but in the end they just about cost savings and squeezing you for your fee with minimal service.

Attempted to use the gym over Christmas as it’s a 24 hour gym but the doors were locked shut. Pretty dismal for my first experience.

Good facilities, good staffs, good environment but poorly maintained bathroom and sometime NO SOAP for shower for a few days in a roll!

This place is a joke. They give you a worn card which rarely works on the few lockers that arent broken. Machines are out of order for months at a time. The toilets are always disgusting. Soap dispensers regularly broken/not filled. Something needs to be done.
