We had eaten several times at Chin Chin in the past but last week's experience was a bit disappointing. The Feed Me menus had gone up in price but the quality of the dishes had gone down. The Kingfish Sashimi and Pad See Ew were still excellent but some of the other dishes were not as good, especially the curry (not sure what curry it was as the restaurant is too noisy and even after repeating no one can hear what the wait staff were saying). The dessert was also a let down. Previously we got a very small ice cream on a stick but it tasted amazing - fresh, Asian flavour. This has now been replaced by a large ice cream on a stick which came wrapped in plastic - it looked and tasted like a supermarket ice cream. I don't think we will go back again.

Great food! Really enjoyed it all, average portions. Unfortunately, Had a very rude staff and service. Was very shocked that we had to pay $73 (10%) as a service fee when we had a very rude and nasty waitress. Her name was Djenaba and we could hear all the other servers talking bad about our groups because we were trying to split the bill. Wasn’t a very good feeling especially since we had spent a considerable amount of money. Don’t think I’ll be returning.

Great food and service however, the tables are way too close together and the music is unnecessarily loud.

A lovely venue. Wonderful food that reflects the fresh ingredients and lovingly crafted dishes.

I prefer this to the Melbourne venue as it wasn't as hectic nor was there blaring, overwhelmingly loud music.

The service was prompt and friendly. It was a frictionless experience from walking in, being seated and served.

Well worth stopping by and enjoying their cuisine. The fried squid and Chargrilled Brisket are?

Had a work Christmas party & we had a few courses. Like the other reviews, the first thing I noticed was that it was very noisy. There was a speaker right above our table which was so loud even though the music was great, we couldn't really hear each other.

The food was fabulous, all the dishes were great including the cucumber salad. Sadly the most decadent dish, the lobsters didn't have the right seasoning to compliment it. The lobster from plate was a bit bland, all I could taste was Kafir lime leaves. I tried some from another plate and it was well seasoned. The stand out was the steak & sashimi.

The cocktails were great. The service was good but a bit slow, it was very busy though.

I'd definitely recommend the food & would come back to try the other dishes.

The reception team gave us a warm, happy welcome when we arrived, then we were guided to our event space downstairs.we were off to a good start!
There was plenty of parking available close by, either parking station or metered street parking, in addition, for those of us that caught public transport, the proximity to Central gave them the chance to work up a good 8 minute thirst.
Not long after settling in, Jasmine, our host, introduced herself and her crew for the night. Just brilliant, open, friendly, happy, we couldn't ask for more. The helped us get sorted with our games prizes and knick knacks, the bar opened and the good start was now getting some rhthym.
Our choice for our Xmas event was the $130.00 Feed Me menu-the first dish Sashimi Kingfish Lime Chilli Coconut and Thai Basil was sublime, in fact the entire menu was delicious, well presented and enough. One of our diners (theres always one) is not partial to seafood, luckily there were non seafood items in the menu.
Thanks Chin Chin, You were brilliant but we would like to extend a special thanks to Caitlin who managed our Event booking, kept us informed and looked after us. We'd also like extend a special thanks to Jasmine and her crew for their brilliant service throughout the night - Jasmine is an excellent host. Finally, thanks to the Chef for a brilliant menu!
Was it value for money? Absolutely!
Would we do it again? Absolutely!
What was unexpected? Our room had an exterior door for the smokers!
Was it COVID Safe? All of the in-house crew wore masks!

Extremely overhyped. Staff are very nice and helpful, but that doesn't excuse the extremely long wait time and disappointing portions, especially for that price. Left a very disappointing taste in the mouth. Literally. Dry duck, burnt noodles and the smallest pieces of pork belly you've ever seen. Wild horses couldn't bring me back here.

Unfortunately does not live up to the hype of the Melbourne venue. Chin Chin in Melbourne is a lot better - portions in the Sydney one are smaller, the butter chicken was slightly disappointing, and the venue is way too noisy. As others have pointed out, you are sitting much too close to your neighbours as well (although this is also the situation in Melbourne). I also found one of the waiters had a bit of attitude.

The food was great overall, and between 4 people it was a decent price. We got the duck salad, butter chicken (which was too watery), BBQ pork (delicious) and another curry (sorry can't remember, I think we got the rendang). Again, yummy food, but the experience didn't match the price they command, especially since there are so many similar eateries nearby.

If you ever go to chin chin do not get the set menu
You are better off going for Al acarte
picking and choosing the signature dishes
All the dishes are shared anyway
Ended up paying fine dining prices for a casual dining experience
Dined for 4 people plus drinks

Other than that the signature kingfish and steak were the delicious
The rest were mediocre
Magnum icecream not that great

Thank you for reading

Nice flavours throughout their dishes. Love the creative way they served the pad see ew with the flat rice noodles all rolled up - made it a soft and thick texture when biting into it. The duck wraps were great and easy to assemble. Only downside to this place is that the tables are way too close to each other. You basically feel like you’re having dinner with the people beside you since you can all hear each other’s conversations and almost touch their table with your elbows when you’re eating.

I celebrated my 30th Birthday at Chin Chin Sydney in the private dining room down stairs. Myself and all guests had a fantastic night – it was seriously amazing!

The food was outstanding but your staff were sensational. There was not an empty glass all night, not once did someone have to ask for a refill. They really were incredibly tentative and fabulous.

A huge thanks to your team that was on that night.

Thank you again for your assistance in rescheduling this event and all your efforts.

Food and wine was AMAZING!

Wow I love Chin Chin so much. I have been here about 3 times and have been impressed every single time. It's such a good vibe, amazing staff, food and cocktails! It can be a bit loud so better for a fun night out with friends rather than an intimate date. The Kingfish Sashimi is THE BEST! Even if you don't like sashimi you need to try it, it's unlike anything I have ever had before. Highly recommend if you are looking for a nice fusion resturant and enjoy trying new things:)

Always a vibe here. The banquet is well priced for the amount of food (and takeaway leftovers) you get. The best part is it is super suitable for groups with any dietaries - they are VERY catering and I am coeliac.

Chris Lucas doesn’t care about your health, if the culture is top-down, I’d say hygiene isn’t a priority

Amazing food. Must try their tuna and wagyu pad see eew! Me and my partner got the banquet and it was a decent combination of the chefs picks. I dont like their curry, it was too sweet. Staff are friendly and attentive.
