This is our 5th time to Chin Chin. Prior to this visit we have always had a pleasant experience here. Unfortunately, this experience wasn’t great! Food was regular and mediocre. Fish was overcooked. Generally food was a bit too spicy and pungent. There were not many people being a Friday afternoon and staff gave the vibe as if they were waiting for us to go. There were insects flying over our table. Only Positive feedback would be for the king fish sashimi which was nice and minty as always.

The music is way too loud, people can't talk to each other without screaming. Food was ok.

Food is good and the wait staff are doing the best they can.

The acoustics though of the place are shocking. Do not expect to be able to hear anyone you are dining with if you want to have any kind of a conversation.

Food was way overpriced for what it was and took nearly 40 minutes to be served. 1 out of 4 meals was brought out failry quckly however the remaining 3 took an additional 30 minutes. Butter chicken had very little chicken in it.

Great customer service, food delicious, only annoying thing was food was drip fed meaning the mains / veg dishes came out one after another Vs at the same time. By the time we finished one main then next one arrived. Not sure if this is normal but definitely not what we expected. The mains and green beans dish was very spicy hence the 2 x bottle of sparkling water. It’s a little loud so if you’re looking for to have an intimate deep and meaningful conversation - this ain’t the place unless you don’t want to hear the other person. Highly recommend the brownie or the brûlée for dessert. From a price perspective it’s on the higher end (1 entree, 2 mains, 2 side vegetables dishes, 2 bottles of sparkling water, 1 bottle of wine - pikes Riesling Clare valley, 2 dessert $285) - there was 3 of us and it means was filling.

Good food but on the pricey side. Music very loud so it was really hard to have conversations

Great food! Not as good as I expected due to the hype but still well worth a visit. We did the feed me menu option 1 and had a few different cocktails and can't complain about any of the dishes. Pad Seuw was a favourite, Butter chicken curry was interesting, stir fried broccolini with king mushrooms was moreish and the chilli salt chicken wings were 10/10.
I had the Electric Paradise and Strawberry Fields cocktails and they were delish.

The food was of an exceptional standard. The beef short rib is sublime and the noodles with prawns and egg are the gold standard of how that dish should be prepared - the best, freshest prawns I've ever tasted in an Asian restaurant.
Also, the music was fantastic - the best soundtrack I've ever heard in a restaurant. It was as if Patrick Bateman was the DJ and I was dining at Dorsia.

We hosted a dinner for 50 people here and everything ran perfectly. The food was amazing and the space we had was just perfect. We will definitely be going back.

Wonderful staff and wonderful food.

My family and I attended Chin Chin for my 21st birthday dinner and got the $88pp tasting menu. There was definitely an ample amount of food for a tasting menu. We loved the scallops. They were so good we wished there had been more.

The fish curry was good but not as spectacular as the rest of the dishes. The Brussel sprouts were a bit overdone but got consumed regardless.

The cocktails were well balanced and flavoursome. My personal favourite was the elderflower spritz but my sisters highly recommend the watermelon margarita.

Staff were attentive and provided great service. It was challenging to order from the very back of the booth, but nevertheless our orders were all correct and came swiftly.

My twin and I each got a complimentary brownie with a sparkler to celebrate our 21st. It made the dinner very special.

I went to celebrate Christmas with colleagues. We ordered $125 Celebration Feast. All dishes were amazing, lots of flavours. I love Kingfish Sashimi and Chargrilled Westholm Wagyu Scotch which I highly recommend. But when I look at the menu to write this review I realised they didn't serve us Miang of Spanner Crab, which now makes me feel disappointed with the service. The Chin Chin Magnum is too sweet and melt pretty quickly so it's a bit of a mess to have. The venue is huge, crowded and noisy.

The service and food quality of this restaurant was so impeccable that I'm grateful I can write a review.

Our server was Farmel, and from the moment we walked in to the moment we left, we felt looked after. We had just come out of lockdown and was really looking for an enjoyable dining experience, which he delivered in spades.

My partner is on an incredibly strict diet and many of the foods she can't eat is in most recipes. Farmel, took their banquet option (Which is what we were looking at) to the kitchen and then proceeded to write down step by step everything that could be changed so she could eat it.
He then catered the (Servers choice) Banquet to her needs.

He then popped a little red card on our table which meant that every server would detail what was in the dish as they served it.

You'd think that due to the changes in recipe that the dishes wouldn't taste as good, NOPE, the dishes were delicious, and replaced the missing ingredients in such a creative way.

I HIGHLY recommend this dining experience.

Beyond disappointing to say the least, totally unsure how the premises has a 4.2 rating, maybe a artifact of when it used to be better? I went into this experience having read the reviews so I knew to expect a loud venue but the silver lining was that the food was meant to be good.how wrong I was.

First of all there is no atmosphere. Instead there is LOUD LOUD LOUD music blasting to the point that it entirely limits conversation. The tables are so close together you need to also add the neighbors yelling, chairs, cutlery, wine glasses etc onto of the mix the music - totally inhibiting any communication or privacy.

We had to pour our own water throughout the night despite being charged for 'bottle service' on sparkling water.can you believe it? The waiter initially told us that we could order the banquette for 3 and the final guest could get the à la carte menu due to food allergies in the set menu. After a few minutes he came back and said we would all need to order the set menu and they would try to remove the food allergies. Alright, not to unreasonable tbh - but he then without saying anything puts a card on our table that says 'while we will try to avoid the food allergy, we cant promise it and we wont be held liable for any reactions to the food'. If someone has an serious anaphylactic allergy and they tell you about it, you need to ensure that is not present in the meal, if you are pushing that meal onto the table. If you cannot ensure this, allow people to order an alternative.

The grand finale of the service was the near by tables waiter spilling a bottle of chilli oil on the ground / splattering onto our legs and pants. The waiter didn't seem to notice until we asked our waiter for a towel to wipe our legs down (my pants are ruined from the chili oil btw). Our waiter told their colleague who was responsible what they had done, they looked at us perplexed and then walked off without an apology or any form of communication about what would be done to fix the situation. Can you believe when I paid the bill the waiter seemed surprised that I declined to leave a tip.

Finally the food.
First, the majority of the seafood is frozen and thawed out to order. We saw this in the kitchen our self due to the open layout. This results in all of the seafood dishes being horrible rubbery without any flavour or texture. Avoid the fish, avoid the escallops.the kingfish sashimi tasted like lime and oil (the garnish) and I soon realized the whole premise of their cooking was to just try to use herbs and spices to mask the fact the food has no intrinsic flavor. The rib we received (that's right, 1 rib between 4 people) was dry and overcooked. The Chin Chins magnum desert was trash. The white chocolate coat hadn't been tempered (its not hard to temper chocolate in a commercial kitchen, get a sous vide), and the ice cream was some sort of bulk produced low melting point soft serve imitation which meant the ice cream melted and fell a part before you finished it - the flavours were also bland and disappointing.

Finally the serving size was incompetently small. One of our guests had been to Chin Chins 6 months ago and many of the dishes we received were the same portion size they received for 2 people, despite us having 4 at our table. 1 beef rib between 4 people is not a main course. A chicken taco type dish with 4 tortillas but only enough filling to make 2 small sized tacos. I asked the waiter specifically if there had been some sort of mistake and he said no, I referenced that this was not adequate and he shrugged before moving onto another table. I'm sure portion sizes are not his decision but some degree of engagement or understanding would have been helpful.

The only reason I'm not giving it 1 is because it was good to catch up with friends after lock down and the bar tenders were capable of making a drink and believe me, by the end of the meal we all needed it. Do yourself a favour and go somewhere else. I wouldn't go to this restaurant if it was the only available option.
