Charlestown Medical & Dental Centre

Going to Charlestown medical and dental was a quick process of getting to see the receptionist and on time appointment. Not that I needed to use any other facilities like dental, pathology, nurses or radiology. Thank you for being a great medical practice.

I’m not usually one to write a review but the doctor I was seen by at this centre was extremely rude. I walked in with my 3 month old and before I even sat down, Dr Grace asked me if I was pregnant and then followed my response of no with a “good”. However I will say that the receptionist that looked after me was absolutely lovely and patient and I would give her 5 stars individually if I could.

Wonderful service when personally visiting everyone welcoming but try to make a phone call is impossible. Waited 2 hours then went up myself and problem fixed in 2 secs.

One of the best and compassionate Doctor in Charlestown Medical Centre is Dr Gradwell. She’s a gem doctor that we could ask for. A kindhearted and with care towards her patients. Godbless all the doctors, nurses and staff.

Have to say this place has changed for the better. Have not been here for a while but have returned due to my dr moving here. Lovely friendly staff treated you as a person not a number. All staff could not be more helpful.

Receptonist are RUDE and they are now very expensive. Stay away. You dont need to be RUDE to people, you are the face of the company. Even my 12 year old said wow she didnt need to talk to us like that

Lovely lovely receptionists who are always welcoming and lovely. Dr Hudson is very thorough and picks up little things other drs haven't

Highly recommended. It is so convenient for the people in and around Hunter Valley region to attend immigration health check up rather than travelling all the way to Sydney to do the same. Furthermore, all the staffs are so professional including front-desk admin, nurses and the doctors. I attended the clinic along with my wife and our two YO daughters. My daughter absolutely enjoyed the amenities:)

My experience seeing Dr Grace was the best appointment I've ever had with a Doctor. Only waited 5 minutes to see her.

She really listened to me and was very helpful and lovely to speak to. Amazing Doctor in my opinion and really knows her stuff. Really good experience at the medical centre.

Staff were very rude & blunt. Dr made no effort to make me feel comfortable/ or supported. Charged $85 for a rushed 5 minute visit.

My appointment was cancelled twice 20 minutes prior to my appointment (I was on my way) due to doctor testing positive to Covid.

I was informed by Mina (Nurse/Receptionist). I requested her to provide me written letter about my appointment being canceled, she said I am a Nurse and it’s not my duty. I told her since I am taking off from work for my appointment, and it’s canceled twice with short notice, I need evidence to show my work to ask for another leave to book new appointment. Mina told me she will forward my request to Amy Harris.

I followed up after 3 days for my letter with Mina, she said message has been forwarded to Amy, and she has no time to discuss about it further. She hung my call saying “call tomorrow, I am busy now”.

I attended clinic for the third time for the same appointment on 14/12/2022. Mina was in the reception. I requested her about the letter that I requested earlier on phone, she said I don’t know.
She didn’t escalate to anyone and didn’t provide me any letter despite asking for many times.
I have a 2.5 years old Toddler, and he was attending clinic with me. When my Toddler cried, Mina told me to quiet my baby or else to leave the clinic and wait outside until they call me.
I said her, how can someone calm upset crying baby in new environment? I tried everything to settle him down and she saw that but she wanted me to leave.

Mina is very unprofessional with her work. She has no idea how to deal with customers. If we ask something, she says I don’t know, and don’t escalate it to the person who can answer.

I never had such horrible experience in my life.

Dr Hudson was very thorough. Dr Chong took over as Dr Hudson not available. She was also very thorough. They both went above the service I expected.

Great experience, friendly staff. Visited for my visa check up and the process was fairly quick. Was out in less than an hour.

Myself and children have been going here since it opened. Dr appointments hard to get so take what you can. Also on books at local dr so whoever can provide appointment when needed.
Dr Sophie Roy said to me today after not wanting to prescribe paradine forte (had knee replacement 7 weeks ago and surgeon said gp to handle ongoing medication as required and after about 10 weeks the night time issues/pain preventing sleep should dissipate but until then manage with medication)
I don't want to be the drug supplying Dr, you should go and see your regular Dr. I reminded her that I have been seeing her for 30 years and she repeated the previous. I had seen her every week since I had been out of rehab and now she comes up with this? I didn't understand and told her I don't have a regular Dr, the Dr that even referred me to specialist for this proceedure doesn't work at clinic anymore. My last 'regular' Dr that worked here at Charlestown medical retired years ago and I just don't get sick often so I don't see anyone 'regularly'?
Anyway that wasn't the problem.the fact that she was making me feel like i was asking for drugs or something.well i was.and would continue to do so until I didn't need them. Taking a couple of panadine at night.hardly overdoing it. She made me feel very embarrassed and I cried to which she reacted by standing up and saying "I have a lovely evening planned and I don't want it ruined I can't do this". Seriously? ! Did she just say what I think she said?
And her interests include mental health. Shame on her!

DO NOT RECOMMEND! Worst doctor clinic I’ve been to. Had an appointment booked for 12: 10, got to 2: 15 asked reception how much longer I would be waiting, was told I was in next. The Dr I was booked in to see kept calling in other patients. At 3: 30 I asked again and was told there was still 3 other people that would be going in before me and I just had to wait. Absolute joke of a clinic.

Friendly staff did not wait too long to see Dr Gradwell, who understands my medical & personal circumstances. Very happy with service.
