Cape Hawke lookout reviews
62Went in the evening to see the sunset. Good views of Forster/Great Lakes region. Make sure you bring mozzie repellant and prepare for a long steep walk (that can be a bit much for some).
View is nice but would love to have a map/ further information regarding what you're seeing from the top. Please note that you need to walk~15min up the mountain to get to the viewpoint.
About a 12 minute relatively steep climb from the carpark and a climb up a 4 level tower. Expansive views which are blocked by trees in some areas
Pretty walk and nice view- only partial - as the surrounding trees have obscured the full 360 views. Recommended that they prune them!
Number one attraction in Forster. Less than a km.walk but steep climb. Resting Ben he's are avAilable. Too many mosquitoes, so take aeroguard. Choose a clear sky day to get the best view. Yes, over a period.of many years, the bush around the lookout has overgrown. If you delay a few more years more views will be blocked by bush.
Nice little walk takes you up to a tower with an excellent view.
We watched a jumping whale.
Lovely short track, nice view from the summit. Easy track for different age, beginners or professional sportives. It has lots of benches for the rest on the way, so feel free to seat there and breathe the lovely atmosphere.
Very steep 450 mtr walk up to the tower but upon arriving we were very disappointed with the view with obstruction of many trees. Definitely not 360° view.
Great view of the town. If you are not comfortable climbing steps it might not be the best option for you.
Seems like a very nice lookout. Unfortunately it was raining and the view was limited, but we enjoyed the place. After arriving in the carpark, there's a 400m track to get to the summit, which took us around 20 min return.
Amazing views from the top! A bit of a climb to access, about 420m to the summit but well worth it if you can handle the walk!
Best lookout I've ever been to.thanks for the awesome tunes, butterflies, beers and wonderful view.
Nice lookout. But not Covid safe, because there is no signage, stairs up scaffolding where people sit on the stairs, and don't social distance.
Steep walk up to lookout from carpark, but bench seats conveniently located in several spots for resting! Worth the effort.
Just a short walk to spectacular views back over Forster and the waterways. The breeze from the lookout was very nice after the walk to the top of the lookout. Worth the effort for the views.
From parking you have a 420m walk with a elevation of 200m so up hill all the way. There are three rest stops on the way. When you get to the top there is a furthur 50 steps to the observation deck. Is it worth it, yes it is views are brilliant.
Really glad we found this gem while passing through the area! The walk is marked as a 30min walk return but we managed to get there in less than 10 mins although we were power walking and taking short breaks on the many benches along the climb. Great views of the ocean and it’s serenity however some of the trees are a bit tall. Some visitors have started a trend of locking engraved padlocks onto the railing too so keep this in mind if you’re a romantic!
Nice place. Visited here 45 years ago and again recently. The view was better 45 years ago, tree growth blocks a lot of the view, if the viewing platform wasn't here it would be very disappointing.
There is a steep road or a really cool bike or walking track up there. There are tracks to McBride's bbeach which has good 4wd trails. The walk to the lookout has lots of stairs but the tower at the end has a spectacular view which makes it all worth while.
