Cape Hawke lookout reviews
62A good little walk with lots of seats if you get tired, moderate up hill walk. The view is really worth the sweat.
Great view of Forster and the treetops at the end of the walk uphill. It’s not too far from the car park, maybe 15-20 min each way and lots of seats to take a rest along the track.
Long steep walk up but track in safe condition. The tower will either have to go up another level or the top of trees trimmed or you won’t see much in future. Our country is stunning: trim the trees!
Poor service as my order was wrong and the cheesecake dessert was dry, crumbly and inedible.
Great walk and great spot, 3 stars due to most of the view being obscured by the trees, particularly to the west where you could of seen Wallis Lake.
Great view of the coast, bit of a hike to get there which made the experience all the more enjoyable
A nice short, but uphill, walk to Cape Hawke Lookout is well worth the effort for a panoramic view back to Forster and along the coast. Unfortunately, the tree growth prevents a 360-degree view, but it's still a very nice view, and you get to burn a few calories along the way - bonus.
Solid 15min uphill walk in bushland to the elevated watch tower that struggles to see above the trees. Views to north at present, still worth it.
Excellent views, bit of an uphill walk but worth the visit. NP should cut few bushes to make a the view a bit more expansive.
Steep series of somewhat eroded steps heading up to this excellent lookout lead to vast unobstructed Pacific Ocean views to the north towards Forster. Wallis Lake views also but happily the regrowth of surrounding rare littoral rainforest obscures views to the south. Don't trip over on the exposed wooden steps which could do with a 'birthday'. Despite this tripping risk it's a top lookout.take your binoculars!
Great climb, views would be spectacular. Unfortunately it was raining when I got to the top. Recommend.
Although, there are alot of steps. It is relatively easy and a worthwhile activity. The view at the lookout is fantastic.
Bit of an uphill walk to get there from the car park, but you have to go up to get a good view right?
A great walk uphill for about 20 minutes to a platform where you can climb and look over the water. Don't go on the platform during a wind storm. A nice lookout with some seats to rest at intervals.
Good view one way of Forster, not much to see the other way except tree canopy.
It's a bit of a gruelling trek up copper log stairs to get there.
Not a difficult trail, suitable for all ages, simply rest in between turns and anyone can make it to the top. Plenty of shade along the road as well. Trees are almost outgrown the tower and partially block the beautiful panoramic view.
View was amazing! But if I didn't have to leave that same day, would've ran the hill road all the way up the stairs to the top.
Great short hike to the top and what a view. Some great pics from up here. Have a drone? Get it up!
A lot of stairs then more stairs when you reach the top. Would be fine if the view was great but my friends thought it wasn't that interesting. Wasn't sure what Grade 3 meant but even though it is a short walk -it's not fun if you are unfit.
Was looking forward to these great views everyone on here raves about, but was disappointed after a fairly steep climb from the carpark to the top of the tower. Am thinking sunset would be the best time to go, if you want to go. Need to be fairly fit to do the steep climb. Is a Grade 3. There are seats along the way to rest if you need to. We were up the top of the tower when a large group of people came up. Could feel the tower wobbling and it was crowded up there. Went to McBride’s beach after this which was much more enjoyable even though that track is challenging.
