Loved our experience at Shady Palms. The vibe, the staff, the menu options and the food were all brilliant! The Gnocchi and the Slim Shady pizza are a must! Loved that it was pet friendly and we could take our dog with us too! Highly recommend Shady Palms as a must on your visits to the coast!

Really love this place. Lived in Italy for many years and this is as close to good Aus/Italian food as you can get.

Honest opinion, service was horrible takes so long to get food and order food. Drinks came after the food also when they were ordered before. Food portions were very small and the napoletana was so bad it just tasted like pasta with tinned tomatoes in it. Wouldn’t go back anytime soon.

Great pizza. All the servers were lovely and the atmosphere was relaxing and beautiful. Would definitely come back.

My partner and I came to shady palms for our anniversary dinner, the setting was absolutely beautiful with the beachy, hangout vibe and plenty of trees around feeling like you’re hanging out having a nice meal and not in a hot tight busy restaurant, the air is pristine. The food was amazing and good value with price being that the portions were pretty damn big with the pizza, lasagna and loaded fries. We also had some fantastic servers, so polite and punctual always with smiles on their face, we will come back again, I would recommend this place to anyone I know looking for a nice dinner.

No customer service the ordering is ridicolous as a lot of elderly people cannot use there mobiles, no access for disabled or elderly people, everything we wanted to order was unavailable, prices ridicolous the only thing was the food was ok after that experience we will not be back

A bit disappointed they didn’t have a full menu until after 5 and don’t advertise this when booking for early dinner 4: 15, nice pizza and great drinks, however they brought out the wrong pizza twice and told us we ordered it. Then came back and said they had made a mistake, was not a problem except we had to them eat meals 25 mins apart.staff seemed stressed and overworked

Food was amazing, delicious, well seasoned and nice and freshly cooked. Pizza was the best!
Thats where good points end.
Service was non existant. Every request was met with attitude, from asking for extra water glasses, to taking our order at the table. We were possibly one of two tables in the whole place, yet we were given the smallest table and absolutely no attention.
It was our office staff lunch and we won't be back.

Ok. Man, I hate bad reviews.

So, first up - the three staff we interacted with were all friendly and helpful. No complaints there.

However, we were asked to seat ourselves. No instructions were given. We sat at the top of the grounds near the bar. There was the ubiquitous QR with an NFC tag on the table for the menu, so we figure it's de rigueur to place your own order. The table was physically large, so to make things easy I set up a tab - which required a payment of a nominated amount. Fair enough. Paid that. Once we finished adding drinks to the cart and sent off that order (figuring the ticket would go to the bar behind us) we discovered there was no food on this menu.

Sigh.

So, it's not busy.a little time passes and we get some help from a staff member. Which leads on to another staff member. We're told that system isn't running, however we discover it had yanked money from our account - then it turns out the ticket arrived.

Right. Found inkjet and stapled menus up near the pizza hut.

Ok, weird start. But hey, all's good, no need to act like someone in an Audi waiting more than 3 min in a McDonald's drive thru. We're chill and celebrating an 18th birthday.

Right, we speed read the menu, two pork ribs, two salt and pepper squid and some chicken bites - and table fries as apparently some items have no sides. $138.04 plus $101.00 for the drinks tab. We're in for $240.00 for a family of 5. Nothing crazy, but should be a nice meal.

Maybe we should have tried the pizzas. I'm not going to sit here and flame the meal, but it wasn't what you'd expect. Not for the cost.

In the end we thought we'd just drink the remaining tab value. The drinks took ages. I think the poor fella at the bar is probably having a hard time taking orders, making cocktails and being a point for other patrons to ask where their meal was.

We have visited this joint since it was Rojo Rocket back in the day, I'm hoping whoever is running the place can dig deep and bring back the good days

We had a lovely table on the balcony. The manager recommended a lovely bottle of wine and we were quite looking forward to a nice meal. Unfortunately the young waiter managed to crash our hoped. When asked questions about the menu he kept saying ‘ I don’t know “ It never occurred to him to say “ let me ask …” When he brought us the seafood platter we realized that it was the wrong one. (this was cost 60 dollars more). However we decided there was no point complaining. The icing on the cake however was when we asked for chips and we were told that they didn’t have any as they are very expensive and hard to find! Not to mention that in order to get someone to clear the table half an hour after we finished our meal we had to resort to calling the manager yet again! Not good enough!

The food is on the average side. The staff is super friendly and helpful, especially the bloke managing the bar.

New management. Don’t risk it if you want to eat. Everything from the deep fryer or overly salty. Food was awful. Guess it could be ok as a bar. Pizza was the only thing that was passable.

The pizza oven is normally off by 3pm on a Sunday but because our 6pm booking included 8 kids, they kept it going for us!
All the food was amazing & the staff honestly couldn’t have done more for us.
Will definitely be back!

Went to lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Was recommended by a Friend. I’m Not sure why, but it was very quiet besides a couple of larger groups. Maybe it’s more of an evening scene? The food menu in my opinion is extremely limited if you didn’t want a pizza. We had the share plate popcorn chicken, avocado salad and had the cheeseburger sliders. All tasted ok. The disappointing part was ordering solely through the me&u app and having very little interaction with staff who only spoke to us when dropping off the food and drink.considering how quiet it was no welcome or anything. I’m not sure what I was expecting but a little overall a little underwhelming.

This is a trick one!
The place is absolutely awesome and the menu looks good but our experience was terrible.
We booked an early dinner there (6pm) before going to a comedy show in Avoca and were very excited for our first visit after looking at the menu but. First our table was ultra sticky like ultra sticky and the place was empty so clearly other tables available and we werre first service so not like they didn't have time to clean but it happens.then we find out that we have to use a QR code to access the menu and order. We hate it so big minus for us but it is what it is thats their business decisions.
We pick our food, order through the app and wait. 10min, 20min, half an hour. Place was getting busy with few people complaining about the QR system so we thought nothing of it and assumed it was normal. Only after 45min we asked if everything was ok to finally be told 15min later that their system had failed and our food had not been ordered. They just pretty much told us sorry and good buy you will be refunded quickly.
Yes again these things happen but in all that time no one ever came to check on us for a drink, if we were happy or to check if we wanted food since after all we had booked the table online for a dinner for 2. Yes technical issues happen but you can't rely on an app only to run a bar/restaurant. They also have a credit card booking guarantee of $50 in case we don't show up but nothing for customers who don't get their food? Had to go to our comedy show without any dinner luckily they had choc tops!
I always give businesses 2 chances before i cut them off my list and if next time it's good i'll delete this review but in the meantime i can't say it was a great first impression.

After complications with the payment system and a gift voucher error, the manager of this establishment converted a potentially disastrous experience into a shining example of exceptional customer service. This level of quality and care, along with tasty and well proportioned servings has ensured myself and my friends become regular patrons.

The gluten free base was half the size of the normal pizza base yet $3 more expensive. A disappointment I’m quite used to as a celiac, however I’d specifically clarified with a waitress before ordering that it was normal sized. After talking to the lovely Flynn he told us they’d only recently changed bases and to make up for it, he gave us another for free. Just want to thank Flynn for his kindness, understanding and helpful attitude. The pizza was delicious!

Relaxing chilled out atmosphere. Woodfire pizza very tasty. Shared plates a great size. Very happy, friendly staff.

What an absolute gem! Reminds me of Bali, great atmosphere, yummy cocktails and amazing prawns!
