39Definitely something you don't see every day, and certainly something worthwhile checking out. Parking is $12 per car, but you can avoid this fee by not parking inside the designated area (park at the Cafe and walk across the road.
This was our second visit to the Park. Disappointed with the place. Path to Hippo Rock was in poor condition with several washouts plus fallen limbs over the track. Ticket vending machine out of action. Simple maintenance is needed.
A few flies in April/May still, but really interesting. Great spot for a walk and stretch your legs. Be nice if the council fixed the water collection brickwork.
I've been wanting to visit for years. Finely made it! It's fabulous. The Rock and surrounding visits. Enjoying every minute.
Great improvements. Entrance fee is worth it when they have made the walking track wheel chair accessible. Cafe and caravan park shop have drinks and food. The Rock itself hasn't changed in 20 years (thank goodness - no graffiti or rubbish laying around). An Aussie must see!
The rock itself is of minor interest, however the immediate surrounding area is quite diverse: other rock formations, ancient cave art, salt lakes.
Great for pictures. There are short walking trail around the wave shaped rock. It’s amazing what view in front of this majestic rock. Best time is to see sunset as usual. A bit of drive from Perth around 4 hours. Day trip is possible but not recommended with young kids.
The rock itself its very impressive and the surrounding formations are fyn to scramble on and take in the view of the nearby salt lakes. The resident ornate dragon lizards are very cute. Ample parking and restrooms available, plus a small bakery
What can you do - You drive all the way there - no going back now - classic tourist trap - The rock formation itself is a wondrous thing. Make the most of the trip and explore other granite outcrops in the area.
A good detour if you’re in the area but not worth a specific trip to see it. It’s been over commercialized a bit too much for my taste with a caravan park 200 meters from the rock formation. For those to prefer drive by natural attractions this one is for you.
Beautiful location and well worth the 4 hr drive from Perth. To really enjoy Wave Rock, the best time to get there in summer and explore this amazing creation is to arrive around 1630, because you'll be out of the harmful UV rays of the sun and you'll have more than enough time to explore due to longer day light. Most importantly you won't be bothered by the extreme heat.
Enjoy
Sehr schöne, bekannte Felsformation. Am besten am Abend ansehen bevor die Sonne untergeht, und dann auf den Fels hochlaufen und oben den Blick über die Prärie sowie den Sonnenuntergang genießen.
A fantastic exhibition of natures sculpture, about 3 hour drive from Perth along Brookton Highway and you will find this creation, I have never seen anything like it, the rock formation, the colours and the view from the top are unique and spectacular. I urge you to walk along the top but make sure you have appropriate footwear and also walk around the base, you will get some stunning pictures especially if the weather is right.
We stayed at the caravan park next door so got to see at a few times of the day with different light. The scale of the wave is something we weren’t expecting. Recommend the walk around to hippo also and you can continue on top.
Lynn was so accommodating after a very stressful day when our van almost broke down. She gave us the last space and saved our lives! Thanks so much, Lynn! We woke up super early to see the sunrise and we’re able to get to the wave rock within a 2-minute walk, no one was there. Would definitely recommend staying here!
I've lived Perth 14 years and never bothered to come here. Well finally last weekend I went & I'm super glad I did.
Worth visiting at least once at least
Definitely worth seeing, it is something so unusual, especially where it is, it seems so out of place, something you would expect to see in Central Australia, rather than in the Southern WA wheatbelt. It has become quite a tourist attraction, which in many ways is a good thing, especially for this area of Australia.
Great natural rock formation, but expecting people to pay to see it! Get a grip Hyden. It's akin to asking people to pay to use a public toilet or park. Come back to earth now.
Cool to see, if you want to post it on your socials. But the 4 hour drive from Perth CBD is underwhelming. There are no stop overs and nothing to visit along the way. Not much to see once you get part from the rock and a small trek.
