The Generous Squire

We used to love The Generous Squire and it was always our first stop on a night out because of the food, beer and cocktails but since reopening after COVID we've been really disappointed. Gone is the amazing restaurant menu and in its place is now >90% deep fried American style cuisine. We looked past it and started eating elsewhere at first but now even their renowned espresso martinis have been replaced by ones out of a machine. It's good to have options for different patrons, especially if you're in a larger group - sadly the variety has gone. So unless you want to just smoke and drink beer all night there isn't much going for it anymore. I'd definitely start returning if they fixed the menu and brought back some skilled bar tenders but for the time being we're looking for a different local.

The spirits were generously poured and the chips smelled irresistible. Our favourite for the night.

Food was nice but they have changed their menu. Limited to burgers and starters. No steaks, fish or parmis anymore.

A group of us ordered food from Generous Squire Perth CBD, unfortunately Uber Eats delivered half our food, then kept the restaurant waiting over 20 minutes to complete our order. I ended up speaking with the restaurant directly after getting nowhere and being dismissed by Uber Eats, the manager from Generous Squire was extremely apologetic, replaced our order and generously gave us some extra menu items to make up for the trouble.
Their food is always amazing, i was really impressed with their handling of an uncomfortable situation, well worth a visit. 5 Stars

Friendly staff. Nice atmosphere and amazing food. Cheeseburger are cooked perfectly every time. They even have specials during the week. Would recommend.

Felt like I was going to get shanked by the people doing lines of coke in the bathroom. Beer was well priced, otherwise five stars

Burgers were good. Very clean and modern.

Nice upmarket bar on two levels, big space lots of seating and food is good pub grub and a bit better than your regular bar. Pretty good beers on tap, the juicy is the pick for me. Bar service was quick when I've been there.

Fantastic location in the CBD. James squire has been a solid regular local brewery for ages, enjoy it on tap!

Burgers here are darn good, give them a go! Good sized meals. Got their snack pack today; cheese burger, potato and mash, two chicken tenders, and chips with tomato sauce and Frank's hot sauce. Delish. Chicken tenders are some of the best I've had, seriously hot fresh and crunchy and not oily.

Come here for a feed and a burger.

Great friendly service and they are happy to split the bill which is so great and appreciated. Food was good and quick service before the concert.

Found the Lunch serving slices small, compared to other restaurants in Perth, no American Pale Ale (told not expecting for 4 days) and unfortunately, despite sitting inside to avoid the heat outside, the air conditioning was useless

Nice pub, a bit up market from Durty Nelly's next door. Always a good choice of James Squires beers. Good food.

Service wasn't the best, and even though it wasn't busy, we still waited well over 50mins for our food which wasn't worth the wait! There was 7 of us and no one enjoyed their dinner. We wasn't asked how our dinners were at any point, so took it upon ourselves to give feedback to the staff.

Never had a bad meal here. Wednesdays $15 steak sanga extra $5 for a pint. Friendly staff, I always have a good time here

Good pub with interesting in house beers. Needs something a bit more to get it up to 5* but always reliably good

Staff don't want to be there, air conditioning must be on the brink, selection of beer is probably to others taste but what's wrong with a crisp pint of Stella. Food was terrible just no love or care. My advise if your going to let the public see your kitchen staff then hire some that want to be there so they smile.

Porter (Jack of spades) a new trendy name so weak blokes might try a black beer, is unreal, been a fan of Squires Porter for a decade (once you go black. You know the saying) The steak sandwich was superb, you bit into it and didn't drag out the whole tough steak, it was so tender and the staff were great.

Not a bad place at happy hour, because at happy hour it is just expensive. It is enjoyable to sit outside and watch life go by, especially in summer when life is wearing as little clothing as possible.:)
