The Gate Bar and Bistro

Staff is excellent. The wedges were delicious. The nasi goreng was a bit average. Rice is crunch and soggy at one time and really needed seasoning.

The servers are grumpy especially the oldies inside the restaurant. We waited for an hour for our food. Those who ordered after us got their food half an hour. Food is yuckie. Would you eat this pasta? It’s overcooked!

Good bar and service. Good selection of drinks and good segregation of sports bar, open bar and restaurant. I've been going here for the last 10 year's and the food is the reason why I'm going 4 star. Sometimes it's great, sometimes it's average. I'd go 4.5 if I could.

Thank you for an excellent night as we celebrated my husband's 50th birthday.
The venue was great and John the function manager was friendly, extremely helpful and very efficient.
We had a lovely waitress who looked after our group of 24 so well all night.
Our guests all commented on the delicious food and the quick service at the bar etc especially as it was a full house.
I would not hesitate to recommend The Gate Bar and Bistro for your next function.

Large venue, great atmosphere, loud, and parking access is easy. The food was a range of surprises in generosity and flavour.

Surf & Turf
I ordered medium-rare, it was on the rarer side but very well grilled. The steak had a flame grill char flavour that I don’t usually enjoy but in this case it was the perfect strength and the flavour made it the hero of the dish.
Garlic Prawns & creamy sauce were noticeable only for the lack of flavour, small portioning of prawns and absence of garlic.
Chips were well seasoned, light and not crunchy had an excellent texture, intriguing flavour and the only thing on the plate that matched well with the steak.
The salad was fresh and almost forgettable but they did very well with the flavour and amount of dressing.

Entrees
Garlic Bread looked on the smaller size but was great for texture, flavour, garlic strength and turned out to be a just the right amount.
Cured Meat Plate was a good selection and was also surprisingly generous with meat portions.

Drinks
I had a pint of Lemon Lime & Bitters which was well done and I’d go for sparkling water instead of tap/still water next time.

Service
Service was excellent, we had a small miscommunication when ordering because of impending food envy. Thankfully the Staff were patient, lovely and quick.

Atmosphere
It was on the louder side, understandably, as The Gate had more customers than I expected. Was actually a very fun and relaxing vibe, there was a few cold drafts but it was crazy rain and wind tonight so it was understandable.

Family
I think families with younger teenagers and up could do this, any younger and I’d consider

Overall
The price was on the medium-higher side and the desserts looked amazing. Parking was easy and despite the volume it didn’t feel cramped or overly loud.

Nice place to eat, great service. Ordered salt and pepper squid as a starter and my main was a scotch fillet steak with garlic prawns and the steak was cooked just right would definitely recommend

Passed by this late afternoon. Very impressed with the interior fine dining design and the beautiful outdoor seating areas. Lots of draft beers to choose from. So enjoyable to relax here. Grabbed a mini of Fremantle famous brewed beer, and a voice in the head kept calling me 'Are you ok? Roger! Roger! '. Haha, surely OK. It's a wonderful eating house too for friends, family and visitors. Clean, neat, class and spacious. The outdoor huge TV screen is always awaiting the sports lovers to cheers! Voila!

Serves “pub grub” but you can’t sit down for a meal with your family if you’ve came in a fluro work top…
We had spoken with 3 staff members & we had been taken to our table and then we were told my partner cannot be in that area with a fluro top on and was asked to go to the sports bar. I don’t think we will be taking our two year old into a sports bar. Thanks for the waisting our time.

Amazing customer service, our waitress (Georgia) made the whole experience so enjoyable. The cocktails are very nice. We got the bone marrow and bread which was so buttery and melted in your mouth 100% would recommend to anyone, we also got the chicken wings, they were super crunchy and the sauce they r served with are very unique. The only fault was the pizza which was a bit soggy and undercooked otherwise it was a great night, def want to go again.

Very nice atmosphere and food was delicious cooked to my liking. Lots on the menu bit no garlic prawns as a main or entree.

We are regular diners at The Gate Bistro and always enjoy the food. If the noise level were to be reduced, a much better experience would be had. Even so, we'll be back!

Great atmosphere in the bar as we passed through, great atmosphere in the dining area - not overly child friendly, but great for a casual date night. The service was so friendly and fun! The cocktail I ordered was very small for the price. Unfortunately our meals were a bit bland (chicken burger) and dry (beef cheeks) however the atmosphere and service leaves me willing to try them again.

Probably the worst lunch meal I’ve had at a pub ever! Way too over priced… will not be eating there again.
However the waitresses were very attentive so I give them 2stars but food deserve no stars!

I’m a regular, come every Friday to have a pint and the one week I don’t bring an ID (it’s also the first time I’ve been asked for ID there) I can’t even get a drink. Bro I’m 21 and look 25. Stick a dog up ya. Just saying there’s a new staff member there who is the one who wouldn’t serve, so disappointed with the ones who serve us every week and didn’t even say a word.

Pretty expensive for an average pub meal, really. Also hard to get hold of staff at the bar as they're busy elsewhere. They were really nice and helpful, though.

Food is good, service is a little slow but not the most friendly place to go I found. Not much entertainment either. Pretty boring actually.

Haven't been here for a while, new outdoor bar area and refreshing change indoors. Will be back.

Excellent food and beverages, never had a bad experience with the venue and staff. All staff were excellent, food came out in good time after our order was placed. Can’t fault the service, will be back soon! The specials were excellent and good prices:)

First visit to the Gate came highly recommended by others. Plenty of hassle free parking, the drinks and good selection of food were reasonably priced.
Service was outstanding and all done with a friendly smile by the very pleasant staff. Will definitely be back!

Average food, chips where mushy.
Fish was nice and crispy, veggies.well only greens were waved over a steamer.

The snitz on a 2nd order wasn’t appetising, crumb colour was pale and boarder lined cooked, and chewy.

The chef must have trained at Maccas or KFC.

Staff were friendly and place indoors was clean, sticky tables outdoors.

Overall WA standards are much lower then the east coast.
