Swings & Roundabouts Taphouse & Kitchen reviews
68Booked in for dinner and the food did not disappoint! The lamb shoulder was delicious- lovely flavour and so tender. The cauliflower was really tasty and fresh. Staff were really attentive, and the atmosphere was relaxed and not too loud inside.
It really is "ok". Nice location. I enjoyed the setup and decor.
Beverage menu is small. Good options. Just small.
Speaking of small. Some of the portions are comical. The chorizo to bread ratio for a share plate is well off.
Prawn sliders - give them a miss.
The pizzas look great though.
The thing I enjoyed the least, was being told we only had 90 minutes on the table, despite the email reservation having a 2 hr window. We were told this was because they were fully booked.
Odd, because there were plenty of empty tables. ️
The service and food were great. Highly recommend the everything green salad which was so tasty!
Only criticism was that we went on a very hot evening and there was no air, some fans at the least would have helped
Average at best. Pizza was okay, service was non-existent, wine list needs expanding as Swings wine only featured and is subpar.
Venue is lovely, only redeeming thing about the place.
Such amazing service. Wait staff were attentive to our needs. Food came out quickly and was delicious!
Lovely venue but very poor menu
Short wine and food list
Got octopus and was pretty average
Had the Arancini to start and beef cheeks as main and these were amazing easily the best of each I’ve ever had. My wife had the pizza however and it didn’t have that much effort put in. The menu was a bit disappointing, only two options for mains and all the pizzas were pretty much the same, definitely need to update the pizza menu if they want to be known for it. Overall though would go back now that I know what to order. Great ambience and staff was very friendly.
Loved the sparkling wine. We didn't eat there but will next time. Your staff as amazing, you have a great team
Amazing food! We both had beef cheeks, melt in your mouth! The Mini Doughnuts were perfect size to share as a couple! Highly recommend!
Awesome atmosphere and decor
Compliments to all the staff
Menu was perfect, food was even better
Great selection of drinks
Had the beef cheeks which were absolutely shocking tbh, awful bland sauce with utterly no flavour accompanied by liquidated Cauliflower, a tiny sweet Fig which more like a mini pickled onion and beef was definitely reheated numerous times, even the roast potatoes were covered in salt so everything was all wrong on that dish. My sons Hawaiian pizza was burnt underneath also and tasteless. Never again
Baked cheese was soo good! And best pizzas. Staff don't seem to welcoming, but all made up with good wine and food
Beautiful setting visually stunning!
Waitress was delightful lovely young backpacker. Unfortunately our dining experience went far south as soon as we went to order at the bar. The barman was the most rude arrogant patronizing male l have ever met.
I have worked in this industry for 30 yrs and I strongly advise this person is definitely not suitable for hospitality. And the gifted champagne organized and paid for NEVER got too us
Why?
We al
I ordered the Beef cheeks with celeriac cream. The celeriac cream was fridge cold with hot Beef cheeks and hot gravy. I was told by the waiter that that’s how it’s served. Either a terrible dish, or the waiter couldn’t be bothered rectifying the mistake. Neither good in my book
Really enjoyed it. Wine on Tap was a new experience. Pizza was okay. Would have liked to see a little more on the menu but overall pretty good.
Came in during school holidays and hadnt pre booked, were being told no tables availavle which we totally understood, one of the staff piped up and mentioned they could make one happen, we were very grateful, the food was great and not overpriced, loved the stout as well, so i have to say 5 stars fantastic service topped off with good meals and drinks, well done guys
We went here as all other places were booked out.can understand now why this one wasn't.rude staff, no service, couldn't do the wine tasting that was on the menu but wasn't available (possibly just due to lack of interest by staff.), main meal with only meat and no vegetables etc.and food tasted average at best. Don't waste your time or money here.
The place looks fantastic. Went in for a few quiet red wines with the wife. Disappointed to be left with sediment at the bottom of the glass. Was it an old bottle? Doubt I will be back.
This is our 5th time there through varying menu presentations.
Was very excited with the menu options this time. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the pizza and it was good as the last time he recalled- he has the Buffalina. The children enjoyed their meals and portions seemed about right.
My main was delicious but I felt the portion was not proportionate to the cost (especially after having dined at Eagle bay where the proportions was definitely great value and the flavour was amazing, though Swings' pizza was apparently still the best thus far of what my husband has tried). The beef cheeks could have been a little more generous and the celeriac amount too. Perhaps I was very hungry that night but we ordered the octopus (side) as well but yikes it was tiny for $17. I could’ve added another $10 to get another plate of the beef cheeks and that would’ve been a better choice and much more filling. No, I’m not expecting to be full with a side plate but mind you I had a main meal as well and I left still hungry. It was the cost for the octopus in proportion to the actual serving size that was the issue. Comparing again with Eagle Bay, I ordered the duck pate side there which was about the same price, I could get full on that serving that was provided! And it was divine too.
Given our last experience, my husband wants to return to Swings because of the pizza but I’m not convinced as I don’t wish to leave feeling hungry again. The lady who served us was very friendly and approachable and patient. The bloke with the beard and cap at the bar, not so much.
We ordered the margherita pizza, calzone and chocolate brownie. It was all very delicious and we will definitely be back. The reason we only gave it 4 stars is that we believe that table service would have enhanced the restaurant experience.
