Sentinel Bar & Grill reviews
65 Note; our booking was given away regardless of us confirming the morning of. More wait staff are required, commercial tip.people enjoy service in <1 hour when paying $750+ for a meal…
The waiter that did serve us was lovely but just under the pump clearly.
The main was okay just the waiting and forgotten orders made the place feel understaffed and couldn't keep up with the flow of orders
Place is overcrowded and does not follow social distancing guidelines (people had to squeeze behind my chair to get through). Made a reservation for my husband's birthday, seated for an hour and not even a single staff offered water. Ordered drinks to begin with, drinks sitting on bar counter and had to pick up the drinks ourselves. Waited more for the waitress to take our order, food took another 30 minutes or so to arrive. Quality of food was average and overly priced. In overall, did not have a good experience and will not recommend to others.
Poor food taste. This used to be one of the top restaurants in Perth, no longer. Main course was mediocre, fries were below average that you would get at an equivalent of grilled. Desert was left, flourry and smothered with chocolate.
To pay $160 and then comment to the waitress on the poor quality with no feedback is atrocious. I would have thought that the amount of food left on the plate would have raised concern but apparently not. Best of luck staying in business when competition arrives.
Not sure why the rating is so high. The burgers/sliders were ok. The Waldorf salad tasted nothing like Waldorf and the added roasted chicken lacked taste and flavour. The bread and butter was totally tasteless. The music was noisy too. Do not recommend this place.
Went there for company Xmas party. Steak meal consisted of a very small steak and about 20 chips served on a board! Someone else had vegies that tastes like an ashtray.
The steaks were devoid of authentic beef taste. The mushroom sauce was more like mushroom wash. Fries were few and not crispy. The food is still acceptable but is not up to the std you would expect from a business venue and price.
Forced to order 2 courses, very expensive for mediocre food, and then asked for a tip at the till! Seriously? !
A positive was that they did hurry our order along so we could get to our booked show. If I was rating on food alone, it would be 2 stars. Would never go again.
Service was pretty slow all evening. The food was good, but not what I'd expect given the price. Nice atmosphere and decor.
I liked the venue but they served crab pasta in a Bolognese sauce - the flavours are too delicate for a Bolognese.
Other dishes looked good but not sure what else to say.
The restaurant is good however expected a little more given the pricing. A little disappointed when the wine we ordered wasn't available, the replacement (charged $55) was a $9.95 bottle. I understand the need for restaurants to mark up alcohol to cater for licensing costs but $55 for. Sub $10 is not responsible especially the bottle it was replacing was a far superior wine.
Very busy at all times of day. Great atmosphere and various places to sit. Popular with office people as a coffee joint or meeting place
Food was nice! But its very overpriced for what you get, tiny servings, plus the set menu you have to pay extra for steak? Drinks are extremely expensive. Waiters were very pushy for you to keep buying drinks dessert etc
I was asked to share the experience from my recent visit on Monday 24/05/21.
Overall, I had a pleasant time.
The meal was excellent and came quickly even though the restaurant was busy. In regards to the service, it could be a little better, hence the 3stars.
The serving waiter seemed a late 30s gentleman, polite but didn't engage to explain the menu or made a recommendation. I would have felt more comfortable if he offered me another drink while I was waiting at the bar for over 40min to be seated, but once more the restaurant was busy.
So if you are after a more personable dining experience Sentinel might not be your best call.
My first dinner after the quarantine. It was a smart choice! Loved the food and the atmosphere. I would give 5 stars for food quality.
I was asked to move to another table as the rush hour is coming. I did and wanted to order another drink and dessert, but the African waitress never came back, a bit disappointed. It is not a cheap place, maybe the service could be better.
Despite spending just shy of $170 for a meal for two, I managed to get a minor case of food poisoning after dining here. On a positive note, the steak was fantastic, and the dessert amazing. I suspect I received a bad scallop. I thought the smell was quite strong when it was served but it didn't taste off. Perhaps the flavours of the condiments masked it. I would have rated it a five if it wasn't for the after dinner stomach ache.
Great group experience though was left slightly disappointed overall. Food was nice - though nothing really stood out.
Food: It's okay. Not fantastic but good enough.
Price: Expensive. About AUD 40 per person (as of Nov 2018)
Service: The staff are very very friendly, definitely giving them the credit. But I think it's abit understaffed so it does take some time to call for the waiters or waitresses.
Went for dinner last night, service, staff and ambience great. Entrees overall small and average. Our mains were ok. Expected more. Been twice before and was a better experience. Other mains coming out looked good however.
Although I was disappointed with a few things, overall it was a restaurant. Unfortunately our mains came out 5-10 minutes after our 'small entree', which we hadn't even half eaten and less than 15 minutes after we ordered our food. When we said something, the waiter was quite defensive and made it feel like it was our fault. They cooked our meals again in the end but this was not the solution offered until 20 minutes or so later. Also disappointed the happy hour prices don't apply for drinks ordered in the restaurant, which is not indicated on the menu and regardless, not really fair to charge a different price. If we knew, we would have ordered a drink in the bar first. A few things to work on with service and menu, but the food was excellent and the service was great in all other aspects.
