Sentinel Bar & Grill

Having been here for amazing food a few times, this also being the restaurant that my now fiancé proposed at. Our most recent visit was an.interesting one originally I was to review this lower, but how the staff and owner have handled the situation has been wonderful. (food complaint not worth going into and not worth loosing review stars over)

The food of mine, my father in laws, and his wife's were perfect. I had the Sentinel tartare to start, my mother in law had the octopus, which she must have loved as she wouldn't let anyone else try it, the Tartare though was divine.

The mains, Father in law had the Salmon, which has made him demand that we all go out for seafood this week, it was so good that it has rekindled his love of fish.much to the delight of my mother in law. I had a wonderful steak, my fiancé had an issue and a steak, but it was wonderfully handled by the waitstaff on the night and later by the owner.

If after all the wonderful savory foods you can still fit in a dessert I can recommend now either the chocolate fondant or the panna cotta, having now been a few times trying all the desserts is a goal.

The last time i visited i had the Gnocchi which was also to die for.

Amazing food and the service was top notch very attentive without being over bearing. Great place for couples and groups too. Highly recommend

Entertaining staff.tasty food. We were fortunate enough to be "squeezed" in before 6pm - there were hardly any diners when we sat down.chock-a-block by the time we finished our meals.

Nice food and ambient. Went for my birthday celebration. Loved the food. Just wish the portion is a little bigger. But overall 9/10 experience

So lovely! Went there for my birthday and their service was amazing, their food (in particular their steak and port jus) was nothing short of spectacular, and such a beautiful atmosphere! Super authentic and felt like home!

Excellent staff. 3 course meal was great. Scallops and pork belly entrees were Rib eye mains was a little bit chewy but tasty. Salmon Excellent. Belgian choc and pannacotta were both delicious. Extensive drinks menu. Pricey but worth it.

Food was nice! But its very overpriced for what you get, tiny servings, plus the set menu you have to pay extra for steak? Drinks are extremely expensive. Waiters were very pushy for you to keep buying drinks dessert etc

Note; our booking was given away regardless of us confirming the morning of. More wait staff are required, commercial tip.people enjoy service in <1 hour when paying $750+ for a meal…
The waiter that did serve us was lovely but just under the pump clearly.

Small City bar with an interesting outlook if you like people watching. The staff are friendly. The drinks are good value during happy hour!

Seating arrangement was very restricted. But food & service i could not fault nor the bill. I would recommend the Sentinel to friends and family. Keep up the good work.

Excellent spot for an after work drink or dinner,
Can be a bit small and loud but definitely makes up for that with the great food, drinks and service.

Great food and service! Loved the 2course meal. Pork belly and Scotch. Pork was a tad chewy but scotch was delicious with the sauces. Will definitely come back!

Amazing joint right in the heart of the CBD! Celebrated a late Mother’s Day here and was very happy with the meal and service.

Can’t wait to be back!

Absolutely amazing start to finish. Not only was the food some of the most delicious I have had in quite awhile the service was outstanding.

I was asked to share the experience from my recent visit on Monday 24/05/21.
Overall, I had a pleasant time.
The meal was excellent and came quickly even though the restaurant was busy. In regards to the service, it could be a little better, hence the 3stars.
The serving waiter seemed a late 30s gentleman, polite but didn't engage to explain the menu or made a recommendation. I would have felt more comfortable if he offered me another drink while I was waiting at the bar for over 40min to be seated, but once more the restaurant was busy.
So if you are after a more personable dining experience Sentinel might not be your best call.

The main was okay just the waiting and forgotten orders made the place feel understaffed and couldn't keep up with the flow of orders

Place is overcrowded and does not follow social distancing guidelines (people had to squeeze behind my chair to get through). Made a reservation for my husband's birthday, seated for an hour and not even a single staff offered water. Ordered drinks to begin with, drinks sitting on bar counter and had to pick up the drinks ourselves. Waited more for the waitress to take our order, food took another 30 minutes or so to arrive. Quality of food was average and overly priced. In overall, did not have a good experience and will not recommend to others.

Our drinks sat on the bar for a while to start with, steak and mash was great, unfortunately the side of veggies for $9 came when I had almost completed my meal, When asked how are meal was we made comment on this and the managers comment was much to my amazement quite unprofessional, I thought, tough times at the moment.wasn't super impressed by that.that that

The service was fantastic, the food was equally good. It was delicious and came out in really good time. I can really recommend a visit.

I'm surprised this place is not 5 star.
The waitress was awesome, very helpful and attentive.
The fillet. Wow. I have no words. It was one of the best ones I've ever had. If somebody doesn't like it, I'm sorry but he/she deserves to only have burgers at Macca.
Drinks were very good too.
Honestly I can't fault anything.
Will 100% be back.
