Santai² Cafe Perth reviews
49Great beef rendang with nasi lemak! Nasi goreng kampong was nice as well with the fried chicken.:)
First time I have been to this cafe owns by a Malay from Malaysia. The menu was not extensive but I care more about the quality of the foods they cook.
We ordered vegetarian Fried Kway Teow, Nasi Lemak with chick rendang, Thai Boat Noodles and Sotong (squid) Kangkong. They were all nice esp the fried kway teow. The servings were not large but kind of just enough unless you are a big eater. Will go back again.
Curry abit low in flavour maybe im not use to indo style curry but nasi lemak was decent. 10% Weekend surcharge was abit unexpectedly disappointing though.
Booked for daughter's birthday, tables set-up was simple but lovely, food were nice, a truly excellent night for the birthday girl and her friends. Dato Burn and his staffs were pleasant to deal with.
All in all, we were very pleased with how it was being organised. Most probably we will have another get-together at Santai-Santai again!
Thank you DB!
I definitely recommend Santai2 for anything from private events, to having a quick bite for lunch.
The team at Santai2 made my 20th birthday dinner a night to remember forever. Uncle was so patient and accommodating to my wishes with delicious food, desserts and providing a relaxing environment for my friends and I. Every one of us enjoyed the night and I couldn't be any happier and grateful. Thank you so much!
Very bad taste of food, very disappointed char kway deow is bad lack of taste and the noodles is quiet sticky, Prawn Sambal is salty other than that, the food is fresh, lamb stick is tasty (but not with the sauce, the sauce is taste lack of peanuts), would of been 1 starts, but the staff is friendly, food is fresh, so I rated 3 stars instead.
Kangkung with sotong: nice but not when I only saw one branch of kangkung with three leaves. Perhaps it is just out of season! That stingy dish already told me whether i should come back!
I'm all for supporting small businesses, but it gets to the point where they're not even trying. They opened at 1130, we arrived at 1230. The bain marie was 90% empty and were told they only had a few items available from the menu. Fair enough. I ordered a chicken satay set, mee goreng, char kway teow and teh tarik. The satay was fine. The sauce was a bit weak. Teh tarik was very milky.not enough tea flavour. The mee goreng came out fast, which was good, but the CKT took foreverrrrrrr. I'm so glad I offered to share my mee goreng because it was literally ridiculous waiting for almost an hour for the last dish to arrive. We had to ask where the ckt was and after a while, the owner kept coming around asking us what dish we ordered and if we got it yet. Dude.you're the only one serving. You should know if we've gotten it. The restaurant was far from busy, and it seemed like everyone was in the same boat of waiting around for food to pop out of the kitchen. It didn't help when the owner was constantly having a yarn with his mates at the next table. When the CKT finally arrived, it was very salty, and I don't even know if I could have reviewed it unbiasedly because the entire place annoyed me so much. Won't even attempt to come back. I don't see this place lasting long with the unprofessionalism. They get 2 stars for the satay. But thats it.
Tonight I had the nasi lemak with chicken curry and it was delicious and very affordable. The decor is really nice, and so are the booths. I was too full of delicious food this time to get ABC dessert but I will be coming back with more friends. Highly recommend
They make you pay for your order before you sit down and eat it which we found extremely rude you are not a fine dining restaurant to do that! We ordered chicken curry rice and the rice was a serving for a kid and seafood meegoreng and it was saturated with extra soy sauce and could taste ginger and garlic stuck in my mouth! We have been to over 200-300 Malaysian restaurants all over the world and we have never paid before eating the food! If you dont trust your customers or respect them why be in business in the first place? Very rude!
Had dinner with family on Christmas eve and the food and service was excellent! Personal favourite Kuey Teow Kerang!
Not good. Not worth the visit. I dont usually give bad reviews however, went on the weekend thinking to get the promotion of getting 6 sticks, however when we ordered the owner said its not 6 sticks anymore, instead it is 5 sticks- (we wouldn't have even visited if it was 5 sticks), moreover, the satay meat was dry and was not succulent nor juicy, also did not have the char grill taste. As you can see from my picture, the peanut sauce was less than half full which was enough for only 2 sticks of satay, only had 2 miserable slices of red onion, inconsistent amount of sides. Below average satay place. Although the owner is friendly, will be going back to De honey charcoal grill to make it right:)
Their Char kuay teow was far too sweet, swimming in some sort of sweet sauce.
Very authentic taste and friendly staff, very good service, highly recommend this place,
The tehtarik was excellent
Thank you for an unforgettable night (02/01/2022), so I am glad to leave my review of first time for an appreciation.
Firstly, a chef presented an incredible fried kuey teow with a coin size of egg shell. However I felt I was not deserved that too unique dish, I was sorry for it was returned to the kitchen.
Her insisting shown to me the best work from she does, then I again received a bloody perfect replating dish with I cut a prawn from my previous dish. I was really proud of she didn't waste the ingredient from my plate, but I wasted her time. Therefore I sent the dish back again, hope it could make up a little bit time to her.
She seemed to know me who do not suitable a high level cuisine she cooks. So she served me a soggy fried kuey teow with new prawns and sprinkled "a few pieces of non-cooked garlic chives" on the dish for decoration, so colourful and precious.
Overall, it is a really memorable night. Their food made me having a good appetite so that I craved a large chips for home from opposite kebab.
Good test
James
PS, the chicken skewers were dry, but I cleared them.
I like the ice corn drink, it's refreshing. My whole family love the food and it's not too sweet. Usually I don't like malaysian food but it was exceptional.
I recommend you to try it.
The Teh Tarik was good however the Nasi Lemak Chicken Rendang fall short, not value for money. The Nasi Papprik was a total let down
Have booked table last night, we had a great dinner, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the owner was also very kind, the foods amazing, will definitely recommend this restaurant to family and friends. I also fascinated with the ambience. Will go back for sure!
Another new spot in Vic Park. Worth a visit, the food is tasty Malaysian fare. We had chicken satay, kwey tiow goreng and hubby had the nasi lemak with prawn curry. We all enjoyed our meal. The owner was super friendly too.
What a nice place, the food taste very good. The boss treats us beyond than anything, for sure will coming again
Mr Abu Bakar, a very open and friendly owner, opened this restaurant at this new location 3 weeks ago. The taste of hot bubble milk tea (Teh Tarek) was good. The taste was average for both nasi-lemak (coconut milk rice), and paratha The Asam Laksa taste was not what was expected. The staff was friendly. Good ambience, well-controlled air-conditioning, and nice interior decoration. The environment was relaxing during non-peak hours. Cheers! (2021-10)
