Rats Bar reviews
39Amazing dinner tonight! Gnocchi to die for, scrumptious scallops and yummy curry. Haven’t had a bad meal here ever! So glad to have it as our local. Thanks Alex!
Cheapest wine $12 tasted old. It was a Sauv Blanc but had a yellow tinge. The Pate was dry & tasteless and the cornichons were diced finely which made it hard to put on the toast. Hubby had the anchovies. I was wondering if they'd be fresh & plump - but no, just hooked out of a jar!
Not very impressed at all.
Great location, good service. Needs to change the name and alter the menu to attract more customers.
Small bar / restaurant near Middleton beach. Didn't get food but very expensive for a beer at $14 for a schooner of mid strength
Was not nice. Lady serving was so unhelpful and cold. Very expensive. She may be in the wrong industry
We've been here on a few occasions, and we wanted to like it as it is a gorgeous little bar, but our experience every time has been the same. The manager/owner is incredibly rude and uninviting. I don't think hospitality is her calling. We had one drink and ended up leaving due to poor customer service. We won't be returning.
Aptly named, came in as a party of four and told by the waitress that they only have tables for two’s. She said we could wait even though it was obvious there was room she just do not want to move from behind the bar area. We waited for a while then another party of four walked in and promptly started to rearrange tables and chairs. The waitress clearly saw what was happening and did nothing to tell them there were other people waiting.
Clearly they employ rats for staff and happier with rats for clients.
Keep clear
Absolutely fantastic food, location and service. Came for lunch and came back for dinner. Highly recommend. The beef cheeks were divine.
Stopped in on a cold night for an Irish coffee, welcomed warmly by both atmosphere and staff.
Went back next day for wine, great local selection and service.
Rude and unwelcoming staff. Terrible customer service. Dirty toilets. Mice running around. Tried to support small local business. Advice to staff if you aren't prepared to liaise with general public choose another profession.
It's a real shame that such a great bar and location is ruined by such unfriendly and unwelcoming management. No amount of good food or wine can compensate a lack of hospitality and general politeness. It will be interesting to see how they fair with customer loyalty when the new development is done.
Terrible customer service by rude and abrupt staff. Seem to only want old clientele. Not children friendly. Have recommended this place over the years of coming & eating, but won’t be from now on. Very disappointing.
Horrified to be turned away by an incredibly rude waitress/owner as apparently this bar does not allow children! My 9 year old daughter was really upset and couldn’t understand why she wasn’t allowed a restaurant she loves. We have eaten here many times with her as she has grown up over the years, including during covid. We have recommended to others. We certainly won’t anymore. Incredibly disappointing and quite frankly very rude to turn away good customers who would have eaten and drank and spent a lot of money.
-My husband and I came by for a drink after our dinner at a nearby Tavern
-Ok service
-Nice atmosphere and vibe
-Lovely background music
Walked in at 7.30 on a Monday night after a long drive from perth hoping to have a few drinks and a bite to eat. The lady at the front was incredibly rude and told us that there was ‘no food left’. She was so rude about it as well, she seemed completely uninterested and obviously didn’t want to be there. The website says 9.30 close but we walked by an hour later and the place was closed so clearly she just wanted an early night. I work in hospitality so I understand that times are really difficult right now during these times but having this attitude is not helping your business at all. Based on other reviews this seems to be a common problem. Oh well
The food here is A. Mazing! Four of us ate here last week, it's the best pork belly I've ever tasted. The others had the risotto, and the Moroccan dish and couldn't stop raving about theirs too. Delicious
I have given this place many chances now as the food is delicious and the drinks menu is great but I'm not willing to spend anymore money at a place that doesn't make you feel welcome. The lady manager is always rude and blunt. Last night we asked for a table for 5 people and she bluntly said that she doesn't allow big groups. My friend asked if we could sit at a table that was clearly set for 6 people and she said "fine, I guess so". We were going to spend the whole night there eating and drinking but decided to spend our money elsewhere. Very disappointing as everything else about this place is amazing.
Everyone in town you talk to about this bar has a horror story about how rude the staff are.
If she didn't work there I would 100% come back!
11/10 food
Jesus Christ the risotto was good. Amazing tasting dishes
A must goto if visiting Albany.
Perhaps the most bizarre experience ever at a restaurant… arrived with family and was not greeted with hello, but rather told bluntly told sorryyy… unsure what this meant we had to make clear we simply wished to dine for dinner, and was told because we had someone under 18 we couldn’t stay. Never in my life have I been refused eating at a restaurant for having a child. No where does the website or menu state children are not allowed. Even if this was the case for some reason, this could have been expressed far more politely without being extremely rude. Will not be returning to such a discriminating restaurant…
This was so close to being a 5 star wine bar. The dishes are very tasty and well portioned. The drinks selection is well selected and not over bearing. The ambience was excellent until a group of loud drunk people walked in and started talking as loud as they could. The noise was unbearable, we commended the chef and indicated why we were leaving. I'm not sure why the offending table was not kicked out like any other wine bar owner would have.
The menu could also do with adding 1 or 2 more vegetarian options.
