Ohnamiya reviews
65Small japanese restaurant. Always serves great Japanese food. Simple place to keep cost down and reasonable priced.
Ordered online at the end of the night and it took over 20 mins for them to make one small rice box.
I can't live without ohnamiya.infact I'm going to order some more right now.
(15 mins later *Nom Nom Nom Nom*)
Ordered a mixed salmon and tuna don for $18. Portion was a bit small and sashimi was quite thin. Still felt hungry afterwards (even though we shared 2 sushi rolls).
No frills Japanese food, very popular with families. Prices are quite reasonable, however, if you’re after large servings, you may end up being disappointed as their dishes are rather small.
Very upset and disappointed experience. Order a very simple meal - teriyaki chicken with steam rice, which made me wait for nearly 25 mins. Customers came after me were served with food. Only me being left. Came to check twice and the only answer is will come right now. No APOLOGIZE! Very rude customer service.
Safe place to go if you want to have a quick Japanese meal. Most of the dishes have a choice of regular or large. We had fish teriyaki don, chicken katsu curry & karage chicken. Food weren't too bad. Service was good. Will definitely back if around the area.
One of the regular japanese that I frequent. Price is quite reasonable and the restaurant has a large variety of japanese dishes.
My personal recommendation would be the seafood katsu and fish teriyaki in deluxe box (this comes with salad, 2 sushi roll and age dashi tofu).
The only downside to this restaurant is the portion is much smaller compared to their applecross branch
This place is a hidden gem! The rice box is amazing, I had tofu which was very fresh and the friendly service could adjust it to be vegan (without the egg and seasoning). Especially the sauce for the cabbage salad and tofu was standing out for me. It is a very good quality for the price (12.95$ for a large tofu rice box). The food came within 10 minutes and the complementary green tea is very nice.
$20+ Deluxe box is a joke (deluxe box doesn’t come with rice & miso, I added $4.5 for those)
Miso soup with onion and carrot instead of tofu and seaweed??(never seen that before)
Sesame chicken is a nightmare too.
Only 4 small pieces of Karrarge chicken. What a shame.
IGA standard sushi roll.
100% sure the food was prepared by non Japanese people
Very pricey for the quality and quantity of the serving. Take a long time for the order to come out.
This is the right place for whoever have a tight budget these days.
Food is good, hot tea is free. Parking is usually full but with a bit of patience you will get one. Cashier is nice and you got share toilet in the rear
Close every Tuesday.
Very fast service, tasty food and good value, medium size filled me up, I would have battled getting through the large and I would normally go large when out.
Do yourself a favour and go here! Some of the best Japanese around. Been here many times and will continue to return here, the food is amazing
Food was served promptly and hot! Portion was good and taste was delicious. The curry fish katsu was crispy on the outside and soft when you bit through. Curry was flavourful and resembled what we had in Japan. The Bento is very value for money and we left happy and fulfilled!
Cheap and delicious Japanese place. It's almost as if its a staple for those who love Japanese food and live near the area. Had their salmon don and takoyaki. They were satisfyingly delicious. We were there once to celebrate a friend's birthday and they charge $2 per person corkage fee for cake. Which is understandable but pricey as there were 8 of us and I was paying
Nice tasty food. Good for families.
I allllways get the teriyaki fish bowl. Yum!
The restaurant is always busy, theres no table service so be sure to order at the til.
I understand that the price of groceries and essentials have increased lately but the amount of sesame chicken I received in my karagge DELUXE box was ridiculous. 3 pieces thinly sliced and 2 shredded pieces. The standards and quality and amount has definitely deteriorated since a few years back. Used to be one of my go to for Japanese but not anymore. Very disappointed.
This thinly sliced pathetic amount of salmon on rice and onion cost $11.50.standards have definitely dropped drastically from the last time we were there. We used to visit every week. Never again.
Will never come back.
We ordered two simple Shushi rolls (5 pieces per roll) at the counter in OFF-PEAK hours. The counter girl told us it would be ready in 10 mins. No other customers were waiting when we made the order, and I could see at least five people working in the kitchen. 22 mins had passed when we finally received the order. There were no communication updates or any apologies during this period. We would not order here if we knew it would take that long!
Also pricy for the portion compared to other Sushi shops.
