65 Chose to go to Modo Mio for a special occasion.
The venue and the wait staff were excellent however they were let down by the kitchen.
The prawn pasta was disgraceful. Totally bland and tasteless and no resemblance to pasta dishes I’ve had previously let alone Italian. Nona would turn in her grave. Unfortunately I didn’t read the reviews before booking because my experience appears to be common. I recommend management read these reviews which are meant to be helpful and act on them. Would not recommend.
It's been a long time since we've been back here due to unappealing menu choices of late. The menu looks to have been revamped though and we struggled on what to choose! Our entrees were divine, possible the finest veal we've had in Australia, and the Lobster Mosaic was an explosion of complimentary flavours. The mains were a little of a let down with my Duck ragu tagliatelle a little on the dry side, however the pasta and sauce was cooked to perfection. Desserts of Panna Cotta and Italic, a trio of mousse were divine. White chocolate cocktails rounded out a superb evening overall. The staff and service was professional and friendly.
WARNING - if you need to reschedule or cancel your booking, Modo Mio at Crown Perth charges a $50 per person CANCELLATION FEE.
DO NOT BOOK ONLINE or give them your credit card details. I understand that cancellations can be costly for a restaurant, however when you let them know in the morning, that is more than enough notice (I'm married to an exec chef from Crown who has also worked for this restaurant, and I know how their kitchens work).
You cannot contact Modo Mio at Crown Perth until after 6pm, so despite calling in the morning to reschedule your booking, so they get the notification "last minute" which apparently justifies charging outrageous "cancellation" fees.
Will not be rebooking and the food has going down hill, the only reason we were going there was because not much else is open on a Tuesday night. We'll be taking our hundreds of dollars per meal elsewhere.
This is the second time ive been to Modo Mio and it has never disappointed! Lauren, our lovely server was so accomadating to me dietary needs as I'm pregnant and had excellent recommendations for me! I'll be back, hungry for more!
