Hillside is amazing with cosy cottages set in beautiful grounds just a short stroll from York town and Joy the owner is very hospitable and caring

My sister and I shared the best short break at this beautiful property. From the driveway with its rustic farm machinery each side to the beautiful gardens and our gorgeous olde worlde cottage called “Sophie’s Retreat” a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom hideaway, this place is a gem. Our hostess, Joy, is delightful and as welcoming as the roaring logfire awaiting our arrival. Everything anyone could need here plus even more has been supplied. Loved it all

Stunning location, with a short walk into town. Beautiful, cozy accommodation. The owner is lovely, she has the fire going for you in winter upon arrival and nothing is too much trouble. Will absolutely be going back again, would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in a peaceful location for a weekend away.

Joy was a wonderful host from the time we arrived to the time we left. The property is amazing our ensuite room was very comfortable. Definitely will stay again.

We had 4 nights at the hillside cottages with 20 of us staying in the 3 cottages. We were greeted on arrival and Joy walked us through the cottage. The wood fire was already on and the cottage was lovely and warm. A nice gift basket was there to greet us as well. Nothing was too much trouble for Joy and she really made us feel welcome. We had some good times in the games room and we had 2 dogs with us that we had no issues with on the property. I would really recommend hillside cottages as a place to stay and we all had such a great time. Thank you so much.

Our family of 7 had the pleasure of spending the weekend in Julians Cottage at the Hillside Country Retreat. We chose this property as it is 'pet friendly' and some of our family were skydiving so we thought we would make a weekend of it. What a fabulous time we had.in fact there was no reason to leave the cottage at all.the facilities were perfect, the property so.clean and offered a variety of activities.
