Cannot recommend the team at Highlights Hair Salon enough! They are incredibly skilled and professional at what they do. Whenever I come into the salon with a new idea they take their time to explain and talk through it with me to ensure the best results. (the best head massages too). Sam and Ingyin recently coloured my hair for me and when they started blow drying it I actually squealed with excitement because it was just perfect, I love it!

I had an amazing experience at Highlight Hair Salon. From the moment I walked in, the staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. Had my first appointment at Highlight Hair Salon with Ingyin today and I am really happy with the result.
The ladies were so welcoming and I felt comfortable there. I appreciated Ingyin’s honest opinion and professional advice when deciding on my haircut. She exactly implemented what we agreed on and gave me some helpful tips about hair treatment. A big plus is that they only use cruelty free and vegan products in their salon.

Love love! Had my hair done by Ingyin & Sam. The original hair I wanted wasn’t doable because I boxed dyed my hair (i won’t do this ever again I’ve learnt my lesson!) but during the consult, ingyin and Sam worked well with me to find a hair colour I would love that was safe and achievable. I loveeed the results, my hair is still so healthy & I definitely felt cared for in the salon. Coming back in a couple weeks for a touch up and definitely would recommend ️

Can not recommend the experts at this salon enough! Thank you to Georgia for fixing up my bangs that I had cut myself. The salon has such a great atmosphere and is so comforting to be around such vibrant, funny and welcoming women (Julianna you give the warmest hugs!).

Had my hair cut, blow dried and an exfoliating scalp treatment yesterday with Mercyll. Really lovely experience and my hair smells and feels amazing now. Major perk that she was able to see me for a late appointment on Tuesday! Will definitely be back ️

The girls are super talented, the place is great - you’re pampered all the way (even if it’s just a hair cut). They will listen to your wishes and recommend the way to go - always with a great smile! Highly recommended

Juliana did an amazing job on shaping my very curly hair. I haven’t had a haircut this good in ages! She also recommended some great products too that worked well with my curl type. Thanks so much!

Mercyll was incredibly wonderful. She knew the vision I wanted for my hair cut and also had recommendations that elevated it. All the staff in there were friendly and you get greeted with tea or coffee on arrival which was a nice touch.

Hadn’t had my hair cut for ages and was very nervous to try a new style but they did such a good job couldn’t be happier

Such a good experience, I was a walk in from the street and they took me in no worries! The stylist was so thorough with talking to me about what I wanted and what we could achieve! Will definitely be back next time I'm in Perth!

(delayed review, have been very unwell). After having had such a wonderful first visit and cut, I was very much looking forward to my second visit (for another cut, and a colour) ; unfortunately due to miscommunication, my second visit was not as great and was very expensive.

I had the opportunity to speak with my stylist before my appointment, and at this time I very clearly expressed what I was wanting; a very short hair cut and my hair dyed white. I advised at this time, my re-growth was a lot, so I would need a full head bleaching, but as my hair would be very short, the re-growth would actually just be my hair (Highlight's had provided their updated prices, so I had a general idea of costs).

On the day, I re-iterated what I was wanting; a cut, full head bleach. What I didn't do was ask for a pricing break down up front, I would encourage first time users to this salon to do this if you are getting a colour, and to clarify what certain things actually mean.

My stylist advised did I have a budget because as I wanted my hair to be white it would take a double bleaching, I thought this meant bleaching my hair twice, which I was OK with so I said, not exactly, but was OK for her to do what she needed within reason.

One lot of bleach was applied and then removed, and it wasn't successful, it was blotchy and dull. I thought a second lot of bleach would be applied, but my stylist suggested a coloured toner, to soften the bleaching. I agreed to the toner as the stylist said it would fade with washing and just end up as a very faint tint. The toner was applied for 10 minutes and then removed. It had grabbed at the more bleached places so was blotchy and uneven too, but my stylist again advised it would fade with washing and even out.

I then went to pay and was charged $545.00 for a cut and colour.
I was gobsmacked, but had been in the chair for 3+ hours and had other commitments, so I didn't question the bill at the time. I also didn't have my glasses on so I wouldn't have been able to see the Ipad screen (which was offered).

I emailed the salon, as the feedback form wasn't working with my concerns. I was advised I didn't ask for a price break down, but was provided a break down of the service costs; I was charged $153 x 2 for bleaching, apparently as my re-growth was more than 2-4cm any additional re-growth is charged as a full bleaching. I had advised my stylist of my re-growth, also my hair was cut super short, so most of my hair was just re-growth, so for maybe 5% of my hair being 1cm over 4cm I was charged $153.00 and now I know that's what was meant by a double bleaching. It particularly stung as it didn't work. The toner was also charged as a full colour $123.00, I would never have agree to permanently dying my hair lilac, I only agreed because I was told it was a toner and would fade and because it had to be better than the blotchy bleach job.

So I will re-iterate again, ask for costings upfront and say you have a budget when it comes to colouring your hair; otherwise you may pay a fortune for unsatisfactory hair colour.

The salon doesn't give refunds, but did offer to correct my hair (free of charge), I declined. I was able to correct my hair for $50.00, $25.00 colour stripper and $25.00 home hair dye.

The customer service was still excellent.

Highlight hair salon is a hidden gem, especially for us curly girls! The salon has a warm, welcoming atmosphere because of the lovely business owners. Juliana is a perfectionist and is passionate about what she does. Georgia is so talented and a true colouring genius! I did not understand how it felt to be happy with your hair until I came here. They really go above and beyond and genuinely care. 100% recommend.

Beautiful salon with very friendly staff. I got my haircut and keratin treatment done last week. It took almost 4.5 hours. The lady who did my treatment was very patient and did an amazing job! She also advised me on hair care routines and products to be used. I'm very happy with the outcome.
